  1. I can bid on a 2 star hotel, BUT there is no 2 star hotel inside the map boundaries. I've identified several 2 1/2 star properties; Holiday Inn express, Wingate and Hlton Garden Inn.

The Comfort Inn 2 star is not inside the map boundaries. What do you think the 2 star is? Or will I get bumped up to a 2 1/2 star? There is also a Staybridge suites- what star level would that be?

    THANKS.

  2. It's the only 4* that has been *reported to the board* in the downtown zone. There may be others, but there are not too terribly many hotels in this zone, so - while no guarantees - I think there's a good chance it's the only 4*.

Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.

Thanks- got the Hyatt 4 star, June 4-8 for $85.- had to work my way up to that price to get it accepted. I also used $5. bonus per night in that $85 total.

used your link- sorry I posted it was $90 by error.

    thanks.

  4. May I offer my opinion? Clearwater Beach has the Hyatt as the only 4* hotel and you are going in the prime vacation season. There are two 3 1/2 * hotels reported, the Hilton and Marriott Suites. Have you researched if those would be acceptable, it's really only a 1/2 * difference and would improve your odds of getting a winning bid.

You could try a low bid just for the heck of it and work your way up.

On Expedia, the Hilton Clearwater beach is $190 avg for your dates.

You should also consider booking a room now that is totally refundable.

    Good luck.

  5. I won on Priceline:

    Loews Vanderbilt Plaza 4*

    2 nites, April 16 &17

    Total with taxes:$191.76

My bid was $85. per nite, but I had $10 credit per nite. So I paid $75 and PL added $10.

    Your offer price $75.00

    2 nites

    subtotal $150.

    taxes & fees 41.76

    total> $191.76

Parking there is $21. per nite.

Their website had the rate at $198/nite with AARP discount.

Thanks, and I used your PRICELINE link.
