  1. I see that my post was put under the Hotwire flag. I won the deal using Priceline. Thanks for the reminders of the cookies :)
  2. I tried to get the 3 Star Hyatt Place, but they "upgraded" me on my first bid to the 3.5* Doubletree By Hilton Hotel Tampa Airport-Westshore. I wanted the Hyatt Place since they offered free breakfast and free internet, and a better shuttle service to the airport. At $45 I guess I can't complain. The online rate is $99/night, with a 'advance purchase" rate of $69. I used your PRICELINE link.
  3. Just called the hotel, and they said the fare to the airport is about $20. That adds $40 to the price of the night stay. Not a good deal from a PRICELINE perspective, but still good in comparison to their nightly rate. Hopefully this helps future Philadelphia Airport bidders.
  4. Bid according to the winning prices given on BetterBidding.com Bid $52, rejected Bid $57 (using multiple area) accepted. Using the hotel for a overnight stop over from the Philadelphia airport. Disappointed that the hotel doesn't offer a airport shuttle service. We will have to taxi the 4 miles from and back to the airport. The regular price is $156.99 for our night, according to the Holiday Inn website, so it was a considerable savings. The online review make make the hotel seem like a better stay than the other Airport hotels that are closer to the airport. The savings were about $10/night compared to an airport "shuttled" hotel from Hotwire, so after the cab fare, I figure we may end up paying about $20 more than our winning bid in total ($10 each way for the cab). Not a problem, since we will be in a seemingly "better" hotel, AND having more control over our arrival/departure in a cab, vs. a shuttle bus. Used the Betterbidding PRICELINE link for the transaction.
  5. The "add a nite" feature was offered to me, and I accepted it. Surprisingly, I was emailed back that there were no rooms at the same price. When checking in, I asked if they had rooms avail., at which they said they did, but at $219/night. Didn't work this time, but our one night was nice. Thanks for the bidding help
  6. Tried for 2 nights at a 3.5 and 4 star level. Downtown Montreal area. Same day. $95 + fees = $119.64 I couldn't get 2 nights, so I attempted the most important night (tonight). Had to settle for one night. I will try for the second night after we arrive. Hotel.com has the lowest price for this hotel for tonight at $219 + taxes = $258.23 So I got it for less than half price. Used the Betterbidding.com PRICELINE link.
  7. 'thepeanut' Thanks for posting your experience. You've given one of the most informative postings, in my opinion, about Priceline in quite some time. I know the property location that you won, and it doesn't seem all that bad. The location is very close to the casino, and is on the main road towards the I-90. You are also the first person to help identify the name/location of the one star hotel in Niagara Falls, US. Hopefully you enjoy your stay, and I look forward to a review of the hotel. Bretten
  8. Tried booking Buffalo Airport, but prices usually too high (for priceline) Attempted Buffalo Airport - 3 Star -at $35 (no deal) Added Buffalo south (no 3 star there) - increased bid to $37 (no deal) Added Downtown Buffalo - (no increase in bid - no deal) OFFER CAME BACK TO INCREASE PRICE BY $11 - Refused Added East Niagara - (no 3 star there) - Increased bid to $39 ACCEPTED Adams Mark Hotel $39 + $12.75 taxes and fees = $51.75 Hotels online rate is $99 + $13.61 tax = $112.61 Got it for better than half price. Negetives about Adams Mark is that they charge for onsite parking (so does the 3* Hyatt) But they have high speed internet for free. The Buffalo Airport is only a 10 - 15 minute drive away, so no big deal as far as not getting an airport hotel. Used the BETTERBIDDING "PRICELINE" link to do the bidding for this booking. Thanks
  9. Jan 16 2009 - Jan 17 2009 Bid $43 ACCEPTED Taxes/Service Fee = $15.44 TOTAL = $58.44 Used the PRICELINE Link from the Betterbidding site
  10. Used 4 re-bid areas. Started at $35 and move up in $5 intervals. Won the Sheraton Terminal 3 for $50 plus taxes. Sheraton website shows $99/night rate special. Used PRICELINE link from the Betterbidding.com site for the bids.
  11. I may be bidding a bit early, with a whole month to go. I went all the way up to $82 with free bids in about 5 or 6 locations. No go. Travelocity has Sheraton Gateway for $265/night. Maybe its a busy night. I'll wait a couple of weeks, and rebid. If that doesn't work, I'll go down to a 3*, which should be MUCH cheaper
  12. Bid $48 first try. Priceline countered with "TRY $14 more". Ignored this, and added Mississauga (doesn't have a 4*) and increased price to $52. Accepted.
  13. Went as high as $40 for a 2*, but again was rejected. Since the departure date is 2 days away, I went online for a direct hotel search. Found Microtel Hotel (listed as a 2*..and got good reviews) , a 5 minute drive from the Buffalo Airport. With a coupon from Roomsavers.com, I got it for $39.95 + tax. Guess the hotels are busy, and are not giving the rooms away as cheap as I got it on Priceline in the past, for the day I need it.
  14. Tried bidding $37 today for a 3* and then with the 2nd try, a 2*, for the Buffalo airport area. Rejected on both tries. I'll try again later.
  15. Ok.... Heres the outcome of my efforts. Hotwire came out with a 3.5 * catagory for the Nov.6th night (wasn't avail before) for $132. Checking all the possibilities by going onto the hotel websites for availiability, the only hotel that actually HAS rooms availiable was the Wyndham Condado Plaza. I figured that must be the hotel being offered, since the "web rate" was $144. I bid $110 for a 'resort' in san juan, and as expected, I was rejected. I reentered $110 for the 3*, and again was rejected. I called the Wyndham in San Juan directly, and asked them for their rate. They quoted me $180. I told them I had the "Entertainment Card" (from the Entertainment Book) and was given a room rate of $115 plus tax. I booked at that rate. I know that the Wyndham doesn't favor all too well on the reviews, but when we don't have much of a choice, this will be our "BACK-UP". I may try again on Priceline next week, knowing I can cancel the room until 3 days before. Hopefully this is some assistance to others!
  16. If I "HAD" to book tommorrow, and that day may come next week sometime, I would probably go on the individual hotel site directly rather than Priceline/Hotwire. For example, Hotwire has a 3* for November 6th at $132/night. I think I read the Best Western is considered a 3*. Its being offered for $113 on the hotel section of entertainment.com (entertainment book affiliate). Even the 4*WYNDHAM CONDADO PLAZA HOTEL is offered there for $197 including taxes, when the Wyndham site has it listed as sold out. I was aiming for what everyone else seemed to be getting on Priceline over the last year in San Juan. A "resort" in the $100 range. I'll still try a couple of more times before I give up on Priceline and search elsewhere. I'm still finding it hard to believe that San Juan is so busy before winter!!! :)
  17. Well, I tried again. Boutique and Resort San Juan and Dorado $115. All Rejected. I'll make an attempt again in a few days. Unless I find another hotel that I can book direct. Doesn't look like "low season" to me!!! :)
  18. Good question! The Hilton website has plenty of rooms left for that night... but as I read, they don't get released until quite late. So, how late is late?? Actually, by going on the individual hotel websites....it seems that the prices are in the same ballpark as Hotwire (and perhaps lower if you are a member of AAA or have an Entertainment Card...even with the additional $10 off). I guess I'll try Priceline for a bit longer. If I succeed, I'll post my winning bid. Anyone else have any other suggestions???
  19. I'm looking for a nice hotel in San Juan the beginning of November. I'm being rejected at the resort level at $87, and nothing cheap is coming up on Hotwire. I obviously am bidding too low, but thought this time of year is still considered low season. How soon before booking date do they release more rooms at the Hilton?
  20. I've been trying to get a deal in the Buffalo airport area Oct.29th/Oct.30th. I started with $32 last week for a 3* (I've won twice before with that rate) I was rejected this morning with a $36 bid, for both the 3* and then 2* as the added 2nd bid. I guess their prices have increased. I'll have to try again later this week.
