  1. That's really strange that the parking fee is not included in the resort fee. Parking at the resort has always been terrible, I know the past couple of years they've had to offer free valet if their self-park lots were full (almost always the case). It's a shame now they're trying to make a quick buck. PRICELINE's T&C is pretty clear about not covering additional fees like parking, so you're out of luck there.
  2. Ended up going with Costco Travel for our package, they just added complimentary room upgrade to Pool View. Didn't realize how expensive a 6+ passenger rental car was going to be over the duration of our trip, it only cost an extra $160 to upgrade the Costco Travel package for a van, plus $18 for an additional full sized car. Also found out that Costco no longer covers the resort fee as it had in the past (although I believe this would be waived for Diamonds). Subtracting the cost of all the additions of the Costco package, not including the additional rental car, we booked each room at $202/nt after tax.
  3. Hi SWURDHAM, Thank you for the post/info, curious how you set up a PRICELINE bid alert? Thank you. EDIT: Figured it out, thanks for the tip.
  4. Thank you again for telling us to stay away from the Palmer, a colleague of mine ended up echoing the same sentiments after our travel. Unfortunately, the Conrad and Homewood Suites Mag Mile were both booked, but I was able to parlay my HHGold into a Hyatt Diamond Trial. We ended up staying at the Hyatt Magnificent Mile for $90/nt with my new status (Free Suite Upgrade + Club Access + 4pm Check Out + Internet), although the rate was great, the hotel was very underwhelming/in desperate need of a refurbishment. I was kicking myself after having brunch at NoMI in the Park Hyatt just down the street, it would have been well worth the extra $40/nt.
  5. I think I’m going to limit the bidding to two rooms and pay retail on the third if necessary. Costco Travel has a package right now where if you factor in car rental + resort credit + resort fees + daily breakfast, each room comes out to an effective rate of ~$260 a night, so I’m going to try to keep bidding under that. It’s not a deep discount as people have been getting, but as you mentioned, I have not seen very many wins in the later months of Fall/early Winter. I’ve also noticed most wins have been coming 0-2 months of travel, which makes sense since it is the most popular resort on the island, we’re probably unlikely to get a discount this soon. As far as backup, there’s currently code for 20% off rack rate for Wyndham (Coupon Code: 1000005930). The Koloa Landing at Poipu Beach Wyndham Grand Resort is very nice judging by the photos and reviews, we’ll surely get our money’s worth, but the biggest drawback is the proximity to the beach and ongoing construction. I’m not too wowed by the other resorts on South/East ends of the island, and I’m afraid the amount of rain we may see in the North if we choose any of those resorts. I’ll be sure to update this thread as our travel approaches, thank you again for your help. PS – I’ll be sure to update the CHI thread as well.
  6. Hi All, I always use your PRICELINE / HOTWIRE links, just had a couple of questions for bidding in this area for 2 (possibly 3) rooms for the dates of 11/17-11/22: 1) I'm trying to win multiple rooms, am I better off trying to bid individually or as a group? 2) Seems as there is only one other rebid zone? 3) I have been bidding from 160-190 since last week with no luck, I am okay with going higher but is it too early? Advance rack rate is currently around $310. 4) How often should I be rebidding? I've read it's better to keep them infrequent? 5) I'm not seeing this resort show up on HOTWIRE, does that mean anything for PRICELINE? Thanks in advance for your help.
  7. Question, as I'm HHGold, am I better off staying at Palmers and receiving a complimentary upgrade to executive level with lounge access (if available) plus free internet? Looking at the win calender, it seems there may be potential to score the same hotel or similar for ~$70/nt, so we're talking ~$50 difference plus some taxes. Factor in, upgrades + additional amenities of my status, and we're probably even, perhaps slightly favored as the weekend doesn't seem to be too high of a demand for hotels. Any thoughts on this hotel and location? Looking at the reviews, seems fairly split, not great or horrible. I see River North is fairly close, any particular reason you would recommend River North over Millennium Park? Thanks again, and as I always, I will continue to use PRICELINE. :D
  8. Hello, Dates: 4/6-4/8 Star: 4*+ Budget: <$95/nt (I've already secured the Palmer House Hilton with a standard discount at this rate) Looking for: Restaurants, sightseeing and ease of public transportation. Don't care much for nightlife. Always use PRICELINE, thanks again.
  9. Taking a short weekend trip to CHI, any suggestions on where to stay? Just looking to walk around, eat, explore the city, and eat! I see Millennium Park, Loop & Grant Park Area is a popular zone, good choice? Thanks in advance.
  10. Started bidding at $45, got a rebid offer for $56, rezoned for $48. Thanks again.
  11. Romelle/Thereuare, As usual, thank you for the help. I was confused because the HOTWIRE forum contained Dulles North/South.
  12. Have a late night layover, was looking for a list of the 3.5*+ hotels in these areas. Thanks (already used the PRICELINE link :) ). EDIT: Made a mistake in title, date is for the night of 12/16.

  14. Wonderful, went ahead and booked the Omni can't beat that price and I can always cancel by noon, day of travel. Thank you so much for your help. I'll go ahead and post this as a win. :D EDIT: Actually, not sure where I should post this win between the two forums?
  15. Good idea, not sure what the typical going rate is with Hotwire, but compared to past wins, prices do look slightly inflated a bit ($30-50). Done. Apologize for my laziness. If it's any consolation, I always use the links above to access both Hotwire and Priceline. I also went ahead and posted an upcoming travel in the Hotwire - Puerto Rico and other Caribbean Islands forum.
  16. Matching amenities as those posted in forum. Great rate, especially for time of year. Closets comparable I could find was at the Westin for $163/nt (which is currently undergoing a major refurbishment). Everything else was $260+.
  17. Hello, I've been unsuccessful the last couple of days trying to bid in the Financial District/USE 4* Zones (starting at $80 up to $110 (max)) for 12/3 - 12/5. I've never had trouble in the past getting a room within that bid range, I'm curious is there an event going on during this upcoming weekend that I am unaware of? It doesn't look like there are any wins in the calendar between that date range for a comparison. Should I expand my zones/lower my star rating? Or should I keep trying as the date approaches? Thank you.
  18. Amenities: Fitness Center, Pool(s), Restaurant(s),Business Center, High-speed Internet Access Just booked today 5/7 for 5/22-5/25 for $116, thanks.
