  1. Does anyone know why all of the hotels are booked for this night? I've bid a few times, but most of the hotels appear completely booked for only this night.
  2. Utilized the PRICELINE link through this site and started bidding for 3.5* hotels in Portland Downtown. Bid $50, $52, $54, $57, $60, $62 and $65 before finally winning the Hilton Portland & Executive Tower for $65 per night for 3 nights. My current reservation was at the Courtyard for $109 per night which I quickly canceled. It does not appear that a lot is included at this Hilton, but I am happy at $65 per night. I will report if I have a negative experience, but consider "no news to be good news" regarding my stay.
  3. I decided to use the PRICELINE link and bid for this hotel instead of purchasing it through Hotwire (thought I would get the Sheraton regardless). I used the following bidding strategy for 2 rooms on 6/5 and 6/6. 4* bid only $40 $45 $48 $51 $55 $58 The $58 bid was confirmed and it was the Sheraton Hotel in Downtown Denver. Very happy with the price and the location...we had the Courtyard booked in a few blocks away for more than DOUBLE this price. Thanks again to the great people at betterbidding...this is such a great site!
  4. Property is 4* and Hotwire price is $74 per night. Here are the amenities. Smoke Free Room, Fitness Center, Pool, Restaurant, Business Center, Laundry Facilities, High Speed Internet Thanks for any guidance you can provide.
  5. Re-bid from $85-$100 without any luck....Bid $105, then $108 and got the Sheraton Wall Center for 2 nights. Feel like this is a good price for a 4* hotel in the Entertainment District so thank you for the help. Used the PRICELINE link on this site to make the reservation. Thanks again....looking forward to our stay.
  6. Combined Downtown & Granville for 4* and Bid as follows: $90 $95 $98 $100 Added 3.5* and bid as follows for Downtown, then Granville (not as many rebid zones with 3.5*). $70 $75 $80 $85 $90 All bids were rejected.
  7. Ok, so here was my bidding today. 4* Downtown $70 $75 $80 $85 Closed browser and restarted. 4* Granville $70 $75 $80 $85 All bids were rejected. I still have my options to group them together and bid $90, $95, $100, etc. General question....is 2 months in advance too far in advance to get a good deal? Should I wait a few weeks or is it close enough to get the best deal? Also, any idea how much lower people get 3* and 3.5* hotels in downtown Vancouver compared to 4*? Just looking for another data point if anyone happens to have a % feel (aka...3*s are generally 20% cheaper).
  8. Ok, thanks. So I looked into this and it appears I can use City Hall, Burnaby, Langley, North Vancouver and Surrey as my rebid zones for 4 star hotels. The only area to avoid using is the airport zone since I am ok staying in the other 2. Did I do this correctly? If I am correct, then do I need to close my browser after each bid combination? In other words, I want to stay in A so I bid on A. Then I add C which is a rebid zone for me. Should I close my browser and reopen it before bidding A & D which is another rebid zone for me? Let me know if this is not clear. Also, what are my chances of getting a place for <$100 per night at this time? Trying to think about how much we could save by going to a 3 star.
  9. Wondering if someone can help me with a bidding strategy for Vancouver. We want to be in either Downtown Vancouver or Granville Entertainment District and we prefer a 4* hotel (even though we might consider 3.5* for the right price). So far, I bid the following. Downtown Vancouver, 4*, $75 Downtown Vancouver & Granville Entertainment District, 4*, $80 Both bids were rejected. Is there another zone I can add that DOES NOT have a 4* hotel so that I can bid again without waiting? Any other way to keep bidding without running the risk of getting a room somewhere else? I'm hoping to stay under $100, and I have a lot of time so I'll probably increase bidding in $5 increments. I noticed on HOTWIRE that there is a 5* hotel in Downtown West for $132 per night. It has these amenities.....Fitness Center, Pool, Restaurant, Business Center, High Speed Internet, Golf Nearby, Spa Services...any idea what hotel this is?
  10. Thanks. We have booked the Hotel Aspen right now for $~140 per night. We do not want the Sky Hotel after reading reviews unless it was at a really, really good price. We'll plan to bid through PRICELINE to see if we can get something for under $100 (maybe more). I'll start a thread there and use the PRICELINE links once we start bidding. Thank you, we love the site!
  11. Added a reply to Rome and Florence. Here is additional info using your "see all" idea. 4 Star - $139 Condo, 1 BR Suite, Fully Equipped Kitchen, Airport Shuttle, Free Parking, Fitness Center, Pool, Laundry Facilities, Tennis Nearby, High Speed Internet Access 3.5 Star - $155 Boutique Hotel, Slope side, Airport Shuttle, Fitness Center, Pool, Restaurant, Business Center, High Speed Internet Access, Golf Nearby, Tennis Nearby It looks like the 4 star may be the Gant??? Thanks for the help.
  12. Did not have any luck with PRICELINE in Florence so we booked a regular hotel for this trip. Thanks.
  13. We decided to stay with our original booking since we did not have any luck with PRICELINE getting under $200. Thanks for everyone's help.
  14. Any idea on either of these properties in Aspen? 4 Star - $139 Condo, 1 BR Suite, Fully Equipped Kitchen, Airport Shuttle, Free Parking, Fitness Center, Pool, Laundry Facilities 3.5 Star - $155 Boutique Hotel, Slope side, Airport Shuttle, Fitness Center, Pool, Restaurant, Business Center, High Speed Internet I will use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links before booking anything. Thanks for the help!
  15. Has anyone had any luck reserving a 4 or 5 star hotel in Florence, Italy recently? What was your bid strategy and what price did you secure? Thanks in advance for any help you can give!
  16. NWA, thanks for the info. I bid $152 and $162 today and received a $259 counter offer. Obviously, I have no interest in that price, but I thought I would update everyone.
  17. I have a room reserved in Rome Central for approx $160+tax. We do not want to spend much more, but we would love to upgrade to a 5 star hotel if it works out. I bid $150 followed by $160 3 days ago and followed up with $152 followed by $160 today. All bids were rejected, and I received a counter offer of $259 which we have zero interest in paying. Posting this more to inform others because I plan to keep trying lower rates as it gets closer because I have a 72 hour cancellation policy on my existing reservation. If anyone has had luck winning a 5 star hotel in Rome for under $200 per night (tax included), then please post and let me know your strategy. Thanks for everyone's help so far!
  18. I am interested in securing a 5 Star in Central Rome for 2 nights (May 17 and 18). I bid $150 and $160, but both were rejected (one of them had a $250+ counter offer). Are you suggesting that I should keep bidding these amounts with everything going on? I did not want to go any higher since I have another hotel reserved in that area for a similar price (not as nice), but maybe I should continue putting $160 bids out there? Increase by $1 at a time? Thanks.
  19. I wanted to let everyone know this hotel was perfect for our group. The hotel gave us 3 rooms with 2 next to each other and 1 across the hall. The hotel was very nice and the staff was very helpful. Parking is $26 per day, but that may be normal for that area of Baltimore. I definitely recommend using this site to book hotel rooms through HOTWIRE! Our group was very pleased so thanks again for the help.
  20. FYI....I booked using the HOTWIRE link from this site. I waited until today and the 4 star rate fell to $96 so I booked 3 rooms for 10 people for 2 nights at $96 per night (4/24-4/26). The hotel was the Hilton on 401 West Pratt Street in the Inner Harbor area. Thank you so much for your help! We will be really pleased with this hotel as long as they definitely give us sleeping accommodations for the 10 people we requested!
  21. I just checked with my group and we now have 10 people going so I plan to increase our request to 3 rooms. If I put 3 rooms and 10 people, then am I guaranteed to get 2 double beds in all of the rooms? What are the hotwire rules for this scenario? Also, I believe we are going to choose the 3 Star hotel...any other possibilities other than the Sheraton? Final question on this one....what is the rating on the Holiday Inn in the Inner Harbor area? Thanks!
  22. Thanks for the tip. I changed the search to 8 people and these are the options. 4 Star - $99 per night - Smoke free, Fitness Center, Pool, Restaurant, Businenss Center, High Speed Internet 3.5 Star - $116 per night - Smoke free, Fitness Center, Restaurant, High Speed Internet 3 Star - $69 per night - Fitness Center, Pool, Restaurant, Businenss Center, High Speed Internet Please let me know if you can identify these hotels. It seems obvious to take the 4 star instead of the 3.5 star, but I included it anyway. The 3 star might be a good value because of the price. Thoughts? I really like the website!
  23. Any idea what 4* hotel is being offerred for $99? It has a lot of amenities listed. Also, I selected 2 rooms and 4 adults...does the system know I need space for 8 adults or does it think 4 total adults? My second option is 3.5* for $77. Any idea on this hotel? Thanks for any help!
