  1. I actually stayed there last just after they finished their new pool, it was pretty nice. There were a lot people and really busy. They were also still finishing up the lobby and some other areas. overall I thought it was nice. Next time we go to Oahu we are going to stay on the north side.
  2. My goal is try to get the Hyatt, my preference anyways. I ended bidding 3 times starting and rejected, I didn't use the Wailea zone for the 4th rebid. First bid: $110 (Resort, Ka'anapali-Lahaina) - rejected Second bid: $120 (Resort, Ka'anapali-Lahaina, Kihei) - rejected Third bid: $130 (Resort, Ka'anapali-Lahaina, Kihei, kahului) - rejected I plan on trying again tonight starting at $135 at $5 increments.
  3. This is going to be my second time using priceline to bid for a hotel in Maui and this site was useful the first time. I haven't bid yet but this is going to my strategy. My goal is to get the Hyatt, but the other resorts seem to be fine if I don't get the Hyatt. First bid: $110 (Resort, Ka'anapali-Lahaina) If rejected Second bid: $120 (Resort, Ka'anapali-Lahaina, Kihei) if rejected Third bid: $130 (Resort, Ka'anapali-Lahaina, Kihei, kahului) if reject Fourth bid: $140 (Resort, Ka'anapali-Lahaina, Kihei, kahului, Wailea - Makena) Am I missing any zones for free rebids? if there aren't any suggestions, I will use the link on the message board to start my bidding tonight and will let everyone know how it goes. Thanks.
  4. I will be sure to do that, I have one more month to go!
  5. That is funny, didn't even know it had its own name either, lol. I was thinking about calling ahead of time as well...maybe I will do both. Either I will let everyone know how it goes over the phone and the over the counter $20.
  6. But does it work in Hawaii? Guess it doesn't hurt to try.
  7. I guess the parking fee makes up for the no resort fee. How does the 20 dollar trick work at check in? Just ask for a free upgrade showing a a $20? Never did that before. I wasn't worried about the construction (I believe the only thing going is the lobby which is finished in Sept 2009)...the main thing that I chose this was the finished product of the pool. I was mainly looking for something kid friendly and I found it! :)
  8. Does anyone know if there is a resort fee for the sheraton? I know about the parking fee, but I noticed somewhere that some resorts in Hawaii have resort fees. and also are there any coupons that anyone knows for free parking or any other pointers?
  9. So after further reading and using forum resouces, I decided to bid for $120, I won and it was the Sheraton Waikiki. I did use the PRICELINE link. Thanks for everyone's reponses. thereuare...if you can edit the title of this post that would good, I would do it but I can't.

  11. thereuare, Okay, I am willing to bid on resorts in the marina and waikiki beach area. What kind of bidding recommendation do you advise. I was thinking about starting at $75? I was looking at other posts and you have a pretty helpful way of a bidding strategy, can you do the same with me if you have time? thanks.
  12. I am currently bidding on priceline, but I was also considering a vacation rental or something as well. Do you have anymore sites you might recommend. I am now checking out Homeaway, looks like a promising site. Thanks.
  13. Well I tried to bid 80 about %50 off their website, no go, got rejected.

Thanks
  15. Okay, I am willing to take the risk. What would be a good start to bid?
  16. Yes I was only searching for 1 room. I thought usually a room can accomodate 2 adutls and 2 children? on the Hawaiian Village website, the 169 price has the option for two beds as well for 169. Even the hotwire price of $137 a night right now shows up in the waikiki marina. I looked at the hotwire hotel list but doesn't have the marina area for 4 stars. But it does have the 4 star in waikiki beach area, its the only one with the golfing, so I assume its the Hilton Hawaiian? It would be nice staying at the Hilton Hawaiian Village. What kind of price could be had for the resorts for waikiki beach? My main concern is finding something that is kid friendly, I like the Hilton becuase of the pools and the lagoon. What do you think? I sure hope priceline means by double occupancy means 2 adults and can have 2 children.
  17. Well I haven't bidded yet, waiting for some input. anyone? What would the cheapest price I could get away with bidding on a resort on either waikiki beach or marina?
  18. There are many things to do in Oahu and personally I think 7 days is good for Oahu. The good thing about staying ont he Waikiki beach is you have access right across from the beach if not the beach. You walk down the street and there are shops and things going on every evening. I am not sure if you like it busy or not, if you do then you will like staying on waikiki beach. I have been to Maui twice and Oahu once, and going back to Oahu this June and I just ran into this great forum and priceline. I can't believe the deals people have been getting using this as a resource. I for one could have saved a lot money, but lesson learned:) I will be sure to use the links when doing your bidding to support this site, a great tool!
  19. Okay, did a little more research. There is a 4 star hotel (waikiki marina area) on Hotwire for 139, and it looks pretty close to what is described on the HOTWIRE hotel description. I did a little reading that making a smart bid is 15% off hotwire's list price and %30 off the lowest price found anywhere else. So from that I concluded that, 15% off 139 from Hotwire is about 118 a night, and 30% off the listed lowest price on Hilton Hawaiian site is 169 for this date period is about 118 as well. So it looks like 118 might get an accepted bid. What does everyone think? Should I just start at $100 and go increments of $5 until reached to $118? any input would be greatly appreciated. I will probably put in the bid tonight using the PRICELINE links on this site since I used the resources to maybe win a price for a cheap hotel room :)
  20. just wanted to add that the main reason this resort is nice is becuase I have 2 kids which are 4 and 6 and I thought this place would be the more kid friendlier places. Does anyone else have kid friendly hotels or resorts in oahu?
