  1. Woops! Sorry. Our dates were 2/19-2/22, Presidents' Day Weekend. :)
  2. We ended up dropping to 3.5* in Palm Springs proper and got the Renaissance for $75/nite. Not bad! Not a boutique hotel though.
  3. I'm trying to win a 3.5-4* boutique in Palm Springs but my bids have all been rejected. I'm looking for 2 rooms not more than $120 each. My highest bid was $100. So far I have been increasing my bid in 5-10$ increments and using Indio as my free re-bid, but I'm hesitant to use Palm Desert as a rebid bc I dont want to end up there and I fear that even if I dont select the Resort option, by selecting 4* I may get a resort. Is this true? Does PL interchange the 4* and the resort categories? If you have any advice on strategy that is much appreciated. I am hoping to get Colony Palms, Zozo, Viceroy, or Ace. Thanks so much in advance!
  4. I'm actually confused by this now, how do I select the size of the condo? I put in two rooms thinking that meant two br condo, but it charges twice as though for two hotel rooms. Is there a way to select the number of bedrooms?
  5. Thanks--I just amended my last post, which was for a Priceline win :) I have never used Hotwire before, but the condo option seems like a good one for us. Checked again this morning and the offerings seem a bit lower, ie the 3.5* is $139 and the $119 I got yesterday is now a 3* For the 3* 2 bedroom condo in Ka'anapali the amenities are: Oceanfront, Fully-equipped Kitchen, Free Parking, Daily Housekeeping, Air Conditioning, In-Room Laundry, Pool(s), Front Desk, Laundry Facilities, High-speed Internet Access, Golf Nearby, Property is located within walking distance or a short drive of at least one golf course; an extra charge typically applies. Tennis Nearby, Property is located within walking distance or a short drive of at least one tennis court; an extra charge typically applies. 3.5* Amenities are same as above but also include: Beachfront-Property is located on the beach. Studio-Condominium offers a combined living and sleeping area, plus a kitchenette or complete kitchen. Children's Activity Program-Property offers supervised programs, events or activities for younger guests; an additional charge may apply. Fitness Center-Guests have access to exercise equipment; an additional charge may apply. Thanks for your help!
  6. The win was for April 21, 2010. It wasnt the best hotel at all, management was rude and we got a room that had not been made up--as in, the beds were undone--so we went back to the front desk and and they just handed us another key without apology. Next time I need a convenient place in that area I will choose Emeryville or Oak Airport. :)
  7. There is a little group of us looking for a great deal on something nice in Ka'anapali or Wailea Maui from 12/13-12/20, and 2 bedroom condo would be better than 2 hotel rooms--any advice what this zone 1, 2-br condo might be on Hotwire, or where else to try? Thanks!
  8. Bid 3* @$56 thru board link and got Doubletree, my first choice! :) Thanks!!
  9. Thanks Yellowdog, I was more trying to get a sense of hotels in the 3* range and make better sense of why some hotels like Doubletree appear as 2.5, 3, and 3.5, and how I can clarify why these star rating range. Also, if anyone could offer any strategy to getting Doubletree, Courtyard, or Hilton without getting Four Points, that would be awesome. It seems like four Points usually gets rated 2.5, however I have seen it posted at 3* so I'm wondering what advice might be available. Thanks!!
  10. I have been reading the board for Berkeley, and have found the 4* very clear cut as there is only one (Claremont), however, it seems the Claremont also lands in 3.5* too. What are the 3.5* hotels, and how often do they fall into 3* class? Seems like Courtyard, Hilton, and Doubletree both orbit 3* but I do see Doubletree in 2.5* as well. This is confusing! Is there any way NOT to get Four Points if I'm aiming for any of the aforementioned? Thanks for your help! :)
  11. I'm curious to know just how 4* (or 4.5* or 5*) Priceline goes. To me, the W is the pinnacle, and I'd love to be able to bid on a stay there. I've searched your SOMA tips and havent seen anything about W SF. Thanks for any advice!
