Tried bidding in the airport zone up to $60 with no luck, so added downtown and this came up for $50. Total with tax was $61. Great deal, it's newly renovated and is currently going on the hotel's website for over $200.
I need two rooms in Sydney July 17th. I've tried bidding both 4 and 5 star hotels up to $165, no luck. From what I've seen reported on the boards I should have been successful at a lower price. None of the regularly won hotels are sold out for that night, so that shouldn't be the problem. Does PRICELINE sometimes just not have rooms available?
Ooops, sorry I was so focused on the fact that the hotel was wrong and that I didn't actually end up using the booking. It was a 4*,Sydney Australia, Restaurant, Pool, Fitness, Business Center, High Speed Internet, Shuttle. $114, July 17.
I just bought a 4* Sydney hotel, zone A (Sydney). Winning hotel was the Stamford Plaza Sydney Airport hotel. The map Hotwire gave me with the location showed it being in the central city, yet if you look up the given address on google maps it shows the hotel being located directly beside the airport. Which is a completely different zone, zone B. I looked up the hotel on Tripadvisor, and sure enough all the pictures show it being located next to the airport, well outside of the green zone on Hotwire. After calling customer service they did refund my money and say they'd look into their computer system, but who knows how long it will take to fix it. So in the meantime, be careful booking a 4* in Sydney, it might be in the wrong zone!
