  1. After several days of not being able to get ANY info on amenities, I called Hotwire and they told me the same thing -- still gathering reviews. Ugh! We decided to direct-book with a Hampton Inn in Alexandria, VA instead.
  2. Thanks for your response.... Tried your suggestions and nope, nothin. A new search yields a new price -- now $99. Pressing the green button gives me the same error -- "can't find amenities." Pressing it multiple times just makes it mad and the message changes to 'cant process your request.' Same thing when I click on the star-and-rate box, as if I'm selecting it to proceed with booking, and it takes me to a whole page of 'cant process your request.' The full text after that is: Thank you for visiting Hotwire. We're always working to improve our site. Occasionally, we reorganize our pages, and as a result, bookmarks you have set for our site may no longer be accurate. If you are attempting to use a password assistance link, please make sure that you have cut and pasted the entire URL that was provided in our email. This link also expires within 24 hours from the time it was sent to you, so if you need to request another one, please click on the "Password assistance" link below. This is turning out to be very frustrating and possibly more trouble than it's worth. I mean, I'd probably like to book this property but Hotwire's own site won't work and I can't do it.
  3. Quick update on my own stupidity......clicked a couple things and came up with a list of ALL ares in DC. Selected Convention Center only, still just one 3-1/2 * option, $97, but now have a green box to click with list of ALL AMENITIES.....but when I click, it says 'Error 701: can't find amenities." So at least I got to the page I should've been on to begin with (the result of too many windows open at once....sorry) but still, legitimately, there aren't any amenities listed. My plea for help is still in play.....thanks! :)
  4. Hi! Could REALLY use your help on this one.... Used link to search for Washington DC-Convention Center area for 07/04 - 07/07, 2 guests. Came up with only one hotel, a 3-1/2 * option for $97.....but I'll be darned if I can find the list of amenities! It says "still gathering reviews". Am I being really dense and missing the obvious or does this seem different than what's usually shown? I'll accept it if I'm just overlooking what's right in front of me because I'm over 45 and that just happens all the time now.....but I promise I really don't see ANY kind of list of amenities for this property. Can you shed any light on this? Thanks in advance!
  5. We opted for the 3.5* Alexandria/Old Town property at $94/night and got the Crowne Plaza. Looking at their website, had we booked directly with them it would have been $126/night, so we saved about $100. That makes for a good day! Bummer that wi-fi isn't free, but oh well. Thanks for your help!
  6. Hello! Trying to work with a bit of a budget for Washington DC next weekend. Downtown DC seems a bit more than we'd like to spend so we're looking at VA & MD. Here are the results for 6/8/13 - 6/11/13, 1 room, 2 adults: OPTION #1: Alexandria & Old Town area: Airport Shuttle Fitness Center Restaurant(s) High-Speed Internet Access Tennis Nearby Accessible for the blind Accessible for the deaf Accessible path of travel In-room accessibility Accessible bathroom Handicapped parking Roll-in shower 3.5*, $94/night OPTION #2: Bethesda / Chevy Chase area: Free Internet Boutique Hotel Fitness Center Business Center High-Speed Internet Access Golf Nearby 3*, $99/night Any help would be appreciated! Thanks a million!
  7. We used your HOTWIRE link and went with the recently listed 4* in the NMA/Water Tower/Gold Coast region and it turned out to be The Sutton Place. I've looked at their website and it looks like it will be a very nice place for us! Ought to be a great time in a great town! Just to recap: THE SUTTON PLACE 4* NMA/Water Tower/Gold Coast July 19-23, 2011 $110/per night Boutique hotel fitness center restaurant business center hi-speed internet access Thanks for ALL of your wonderful help!
  8. Sheesh, just when I thought we'd decided which hotel to pick, I used your link and ran the Hotwire search AGAIN and I'm being offered a new property in NMA/Water Tower/Gold Coast. dates remain: 7/19 - 7/23 NMA/Water Tower/Gold Coast 4* at $110/night (2 people, 1 bed is fine) Amenities: BOUTIQUE fitness center restaurant business center high-speed access The "boutique" part is throwing me...I've searched all over the board and either I'm just plain missing or this particular amenity group hasn't been listed. It does NOT say anything about a pool, or non-smoking rooms or golf or tennis nearby. I believe I've seen some conjugation of those amenities sprinkled around the board, but not this one...at least I don't think I have. Oh, and it also lists 95% recommended by Hotwire reviewers; when I click 'continue' and look below the map on the page, it says "4.5 stars on Trip Advisor." Any thoughts, please? Any at all?? Thanks again!
  9. Whatever problem I was having with the zones seems to have righted itself (but really, it was weird). We're going back and forth between the HOTWIRE deal for the Knickerbocker vs. the other possibilities. Who knew trying to decide on great deals could be so intense? LOL! All your input is greatly appreciated!!!!
  10. Yep, I'm searching for 2 people, but one room. We don't really care if it's one bed or two...she's just my sister, not a big deal. LOL! I thought I had been using these links here to search, but when I tried it a little bit ago, I got the strangest screen -- I could still choose MagMile as a zone to search, but the NMA,etc. was nowhere to be found! How confusing! Am I doing something wrong or not looking in the right place? Sorry, don't mean to sound dense but I couldn't believe it wasn't even a choice.
  11. Thanks for your comments! I'm curious, though, about your search on Mag Mile and the 3.5*....I just searched again and it's still showing. Maybe I should have mentioned that we're looking for just one room?? Does that make a difference in your search? Any personal opinion on Hotel Felix? I've never heard of it, but it's been about 12 years since I've been in downtown Chicago so that doesn't really mean much. :) Thanks again for your help.
  12. Hi there! My sister and I will be heading to Chicago from 07/19 - 07/23 for some shopping, touristy things and just some fun. Close enough to drive but opting to fly so we won't have to hassle with parking, traffic, etc. so we'll be staying downtown. I've looked at two areas mostly -- Mag Mile and NMA/Water Tower/Gold Coast. In the NMA/WT/GC zone I'm wondering about: 4*, $116.12/night with the following amenities: fitness facilities restaurant business center high speed access 3.5*, $117/night and amenities: boutique fitness facilities restaurant business center high speed access golf nearby In the Mag Mile-Streeterville zone: 4*, $105/night super savings and: boutique smoke-free rooms fitness facilities restaurant business center high speed access 3.5*, $134/night and: boutique smoke-free rooms fitness restaurant business center high speed access Sorry if I've overwhelmed you with you info/choices, just want to make sure we have a great trip! The $134 per night in the Mag Mile zone is a little more than I'd care to spend per night (prefer <$120) BUT smoke-free rooms hold a GREAT appeal for us both. I tend to prefer a more modern atmosphere, my sister doesn't really have a preference. Any insight? Any good restaurants no trip to the Windy City should be without? Thanks a ton for your help!!
  13. *** VERY INTERESTING UPDATE ON THIS PROPERTY *** After I'd made my selection and found out the hotel was the LaQuinta Inn and Suites, I read some reviews online and was quite uneasy about the choice I'd made. I'd finally decided I was just going to swallow the $75, not use the reservation and chalk it up to "oh well, better luck next time." Believe me, I'm not well-off by any stretch but I DO insist on a nice hotel so it was going to be worth it to me to just pass on this room. Just the other day I decided to contact Hotwire and let them know of my concern about this hotel and the reviews I'd read online. I asked if it was at all possible to get a refund....I wasn't expecting to but thought I at least had to make an attempt. Here's the reply I got: "We periodically review our representation of our hotel partners' star rating. After doing so for this hotel, we have decided to adjust the star rating to 2.5-Stars. While we are confident in the quality of all our hotel partners, the new rating more accurately reflects the service level, accommodations and facilities of this property. Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience this may cause you. Our customers are very important to us, and we would like to ensure that you are provided with the best possible experience. As such, we would like to offer you the option of either canceling the reservation for a full refund, or keeping the reservation and receiving 15 HotDollars for use toward future bookings on our site......" I was amazed! As I said, I didn't really expect much, but at least wanted to make them aware of this property and the reviews it had been getting and they came through for me! Of course I took the refund -- and thanked them for their wonderful customer service (though I opted to find a hotel on my own this time.) So, make note of the new star rating and also the fact that Hotwire DOES listen and is willing to work with you if there's a problem (and I hadn't even checked into the property yet!). Thanks for letting me update!! -- Nancy R.
  14. Used your HOTWIRE link to book a room in Providence/Warwick, Rhode Island for one night, 07/2/2010. Offered at $59/night; with taxes and fees the total comes to $74.02. Amenities listed for this 3* hotel included: - Airport shuttle - complimentary breakfast - fitness center - pool - business center - laundry facilities - high speed internet access I was just sure I was going to get the Hampton Inn but, disappointingly, got LaQuinta Inn & Suites. (Our flight gets in around midnight; shuttle service stops at 11pm. Thanks, LaQuinta....) Oh well, better luck to me next time. -- Nancy R.
