  1. Hotel for tonight. PRICELINE EXPRESS deals showed 3* with amenities matching the Little America for $67, so I was hoping to get the room for less than that. If not, planned to get the express deal with the spring code. Used the PRICELINE link to bid: Bid $51 for 3* in Flagstaff, rejected Offered free rebid at $64, knew I was close. Instead added 2.5* and bid $45, rejected Bid $59 for 3*. Expected Little America, but got the Courtyard instead. Happy with my win! Hotel direct is $129. Courtyard By Marriott Flagstaff Flagstaff 2650 South Beulah Boulevard, Flagstaff, AZ 86001
  2. Just to close out this thread, I booked through the Luxor hotel directly and didn't end up doing my bidding on PRICELINE. Thanks for your help.
  3. My S.O. chose the Luxor and had me cancel my LVH reservations. I'm still shopping around in hopes of getting a good deal, but I don't want to book a no cancellation hotel without running it by him first. He's in Death Valley till the weekend, which is when we'll make the final decision. Thanks for helping to identify the hotel.
  4. Thanks for the info and your expertise. Hopefully the deal is available still this weekend when I have to make my decision. $109/night seems like a great deal for the Trump!
  5. Hello! I've posted in the Priceline forum about my Priceline experience for this same trip, which was denied. We decided to add an extra day and I'm looking at Hotwire. 6. Staying one night in Vegas 3/16/2013. Already have a room booked via for $85 at the LVH but was hoping to get a room more centrally located for around $100. Used PRICELINE link to bid; 5* Las Vegas Strip North $101 - rejected 5* Las Vegas Strip North $110 - rejected 5* or 4* Vegas North $120 - rejected I'm not really surprised, but I'm not sure I want to go much higher knowing I already have a room without resort fees for ~$100 after taxes and no resort fees. I'll update if I try again tomorrow.
  7. Thanks, The Family Ghost!I'm here right now and I went ahead and let them valet my rental. I got here late and it was dark so I just went the easy route. Tomorrow I'm going to look and see if that would be an option that did't put me out too much for the second night. I'm surprised this hotel comes up as a 4*. It has that 'fancy' appeal to it, but I have to agree that the size of the rooms makes this a strange hotel. There is just enough space in the room for the queen bed and 2 nightstands. There is no extra table/desk area, nor is there a closet. That being said, I'm not altogether picky, but if I paid full price for this room ($104) plus parking ($46) I'd be very disappointed. Perhaps this is the standard for this area and I just have sticker shock! Thanks for the advice on Whole Foods. I stumbled across Walgreens for snacks when I was on my way to Portillo's, which is within walking distance. This trip came to me sort of last minute so I didn't plan anything with my time. What shouldn't I miss while I'm in town? I'll be off work around 3 tomorrow and fly out Tuesday afternoon. I like historical sorts of things, inexpensive shopping, and of course, food.
  8. Had a bunch of re-bid zones (5) so I started at: *4 Millennium Park, Loop & Grant Park Area
  9. Looking for a hotel for 4 nights near Dulles Airport (8/2-8/6). Looking for 3.5* and hoping for an airport shuttle. Used the PRICELINE link to bid: First bid $52, was offered free re-offer: "If you are willing to raise your price by $8 to $60 per room, per night, you can try the same request again right now." I had 5 re-bid zones but decided to take the easy route since I knew I was close. Used counter-offer and raised my bid to $60. Sheraton Reston Hotel 3
  10. I had my boss also try for hotels, starting at $130 for the price point. She was unable to book, so she got me a room in Framingham, which is about 30 minutes from Boston Logan. I'm not sure how her bidding went, so I'm unable to help the board. But she did get a Priceline room at the Sheraton Framingham for ~120/night, I believe.
  11. Looking for a hotel near the BOS Airport. Had 5 free re-bid zones but failed up to $130 for a stay 7/26 (Tuesday) Revere-Logan Airport $70 failed Added South Boston $80 failed Added N. Cambridge $90 failed Added Medford $100 failed Added Fenway $110 failed Added Brighton $130 failed Will try again tomorrow :-/
  12. Bid $75 for 3.5* in Newark Airport (EWR) - Elizabeth. Declinded. Was offered free rebid @$95+ I had 2 rebid zones so I declined the offer & used free re-bid zone and added Newark 3.5* Offer accepted at $85 for: Renaissance Newark Airport Hotel 3
  13. Thanks for the feedback, inqubus! The hotel was a little difficult to find (TomTom dropped me off in the middle of a road, no hotels in sight!), but I called the front desk for directions. No worries there. Not sure what the bad reviews were about. It was a decent hotel, and located right on the mountain (literally right next to the ski lifts!). A little old, perhaps could be updated, but I have no complaints. There was a $20 resort fee, but since it included internet, I was happy. Overall, a decent hotel. If I hadn't been in a hurry to book, I probably could have gotten it for less. It didn't seem crowded but it was a last minute trip so I just went with it.
  14. Yosemite- 3* Mammoth Lakes area- bid $62 , denied Added 2.5* Mammoth Lakes- bid $72 , accepted by Mammoth Mountain Inn Not great reviews, but we'll see!
  15. Bid for a 3* in San Diego Mission Valley. First bid of $60 was accepted. I wish I'd bid lower, since I had 6 re-bid zones! Congratulations, your price of $60 was accepted by Marriott San Diego Mission Valley. Mission Valley 8757 Rio San Diego Drive San Diego, California 92108 619-692-3800 Website prices $139 for the same night stay. $14/Daily parking fee, $18/Valet. No (free) in-room wireless, but I can go to the business center. Used the link.
  16. Just a quick update. The hotel itself was pretty nice. I encountered my first 'snafoo' with booking through Priceline. I checked in late at night as well, so that couldn't have helped. When I arrived they only had 'smoking' rooms available. The room reeked, but I know room selection is something we give up when we book through Priceline so I was only mildly annoyed. Completely disgusted, but only mildly annoyed :) The hotel is about 8 minutes' drive from Disney property. We parked at the Toy Story lot just past Katella, which seemed faster than navigating to the parking structure and taking a tram.
  17. Used Priceline for a one night stay in Oakland, Ca. tonight 10/7. 18. Looking for a room for a last minute trip to Disney. Last time stayed at the Crowne Plaza, was looking to save on the respot fees this time around. Was really hoping for a 3* but I don't spend much time in the room anyway :) $38-- 3 *. 'Disneyland - Anaheim'. Denied. $42-- Added 3* Disneyland - Orange - Garden Grove' Denied. $45-- Added 2 1/2* Disneyland - Anaheim. Denied again. $48-- Added Disneyland - Orange - Garden Grove'- Accepted Holiday Inn Express Garden Grove Disneyland - Orange - Garden Grove 12867 Garden Grove Boulevard Garden Grove, California 92843 714-539-3535 Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $48.00 Subtotal: $96.00 Taxes & Fees: $20.30 Total Charges*: $116.30 I used the PRICELINE link from the site.
  19. Just a quick follow-up. The hotel is very nice. They did mention at the desk that my booking was 'paid through Priceline'. Just a heads up for future stays that they may not mention the resort fee at check-in, although I knew from reading this board that I would be charged $14/daily. They asked for it on check-out. Several blocks from the parks, and I wouldn't consider this walking distance. Not a big deal to me since we had free parking at the parks, but something to be aware of. The shuttle comes every 30 minutes. The room did not have a fridge, but instead had a mini-bar. It was empty so we were able to use it as a fridge. There was a safe in the room as well.
  20. Started with Disneyland Orange and Disneyland Anaheim for $38. Priceline offered re-bid at $48. Disneyland Anaheim and DL Anaheim Hills for $42. Disneyland Anaheim and Seal Beach for $46 Disneyland Anaheim, Disneyland Orange, and Seal Beach for $50. Bid accepted. Staying at Crowne Plaza I named my price for a hotel room in Garden Grove, CA at priceline.com and my offer was accepted. Here are the details on where I'll be staying. Hotel: Crowne Plaza Resort Anaheim 12021 Harbor Blvd Garden Grove, California 92840 United States 714-867-5555 Check-In Date: Friday, September 10, 2010 Check-Out Date: Sunday, September 12, 2010 I believe the 'resort fee' on this location is $12/nightly. Ends up being more than I intended to pay, but hopefully the hotel is nice and clean!!
  21. Sorry if I wasn't clear in my first post. I tend to get wordy and my message gets lost sometimes. Anywhere within quick driving distance to the parks would be fine, since we will be driving. I'm looking for the best price, anything 3 or better would be fine. I want to avoid 'Motel 6' sorts of places, basically. I don't have a bidding strategy but I want to have the room booked tonight so I'll probably just start bidding with my fingers crossed! Thanks, Tammy
  22. Either zone will be ok, as I'll be driving into the parks and location doesn't matter as much as trying to get a nicer place. Thanks for the rest of the advice as well. I'll look into the hotels suggested, but I'd love if someone could help me with a bidding strategy so I can start low.
  23. Making a short trip to Disneyland this weekend. Looking to spend less than $50/night. Have parking with our AP so no shuttle is necessary and would prefer not to have any tacked on fees if possible. The fees look to be an average of $10/nightly. Would it work to start my bidding at $35 and work my way up from there in case I do get a hotel with a fee? Prefer 3 or + stars. Distance from the parks isn't too important, as we will be driving in each day. Thanks in advance! I've read the bidding strategy pages but I get a little confused about the re-bid zones. I'll be happy with any hotel I get if I can get it for a good price and it's not so hideous that I embarrass myself with my guy-friend :)
  24. Just wanted to update: The hotel was nice, built from an old mansion. Really beautiful grounds. Lots of parking, but in a lot across the street from the hotel itself. We checked in on Prom night, which was downstairs in the ballroom. The clerk offered to put us in a different building but we preferred the King size. The noise from the ballroom was loud but the clerk told us about the prom so it didn't bother us. Outside the room we had a shared balcony, which was nice. We got to say hi to our neighbor. We didn't find an ice machine or soda machine in our building, but it's possible we just didn't look in the right place. Well worth the price.
  25. Went through PRICELINE link at this site. First bid of $49 was accepted for a 3* stay tomorrow, April 17th. Hotel rates from website are pricing at $99 for the same date. This is the one I wanted. Whoo hoo!
