I was suprised to get Hotel 480-it is under construction- a bit-(and hadn't seen any posts for it )- they promised to only work 9-5- wrong- first 2 mornings before 8 am -ugh-complained - then 2 minutes after that maid knocked on door to ask when we needed room cleaned-and they slammed the heavy doors all the way down the hall-- perfect location though-so much easier to get around- right around corner from major bus route - (I goofed its not a 4 star, just 3) but not sure if I would even call it that if not for the location- cute modern rooms view of mechanical roof-bathroom/shower really loud in the rest of the room requested a fridge- had rotten food still in it. Our dead bolt never worked- no safe for valuables- sometimes no one at the front door and smokey smell due to location - but smoke free hotel- nice-but again location was perfect-I would stay there again but for less-

Mark Hopkins offered the rest of my week at $164 a night- no thanks- The split bid was great- I could not see walking up Nob hill any longer- since the cable cars were always so full-

For first part of my stay I got 10/4-10/8- Mark Hopkins $115, and was upgraded from a 3* to 4*- and took a little longer to get 2nd half of stay- but ended up with 3* Hotel 480 USE-for 10/8-10/12 $133- little more than I wanted to spend- but I was running out of time- also used another trick by having my husband bid every other time- so we went back and forth with the options and pricing- hotel 480 says they are under construction too-(does it count as 3* if under construction?) of course didn't know that and they aren't on the pricline map links for winning bids-

I am having trouble getting a room 3-5* San Francisco- USE/USW/Fishermans Wharf for 10/4/08 thru 10/12/08 I have tried all the tips and tricks..but am having no luck- already over $123 bid ..is it harder to get a room when its for 8 nights- I have seen winning bids for less in the area and * rating I want- what am I doing wrong??
