  1. I often find that in a particular geographical area, there is at least one hotel in a Priceline star category that is a real clunker. (Say, for instance, the Red Lion at the Portland airport.) The likelihood that I will end up with the Red Lion makes me reluctant to bid in the 3* category at all. However, I note that at present, the Red Lion is listed on Priceline's regular (non-bidding) page for $75 per night. I was wondering what would happen if I were to bid $76 for a 3* on the opaque portion of the site. I would, of course, be irritated to the max if I still ended up with the Red Lion!
  2. Appears to be the best LA deal currently; used the PRICELINE link.
  3. Initially bid $62.00 which was rejected, with offer to accept at $79.00 (which, I believe, is the current price on HOTWIRE. I declined, added Convention Center, and bid $67.00.

  5. Breakfast Fitness Pool Business Center Laundry Hi Speed Internet $85.00 12-11-08 to 12-12-08 (There were hotels with superior star ratings at comparable prices, but 3.5* has some clunkers that I try to avoid.) Having trouble accessing HOTWIRE from this site. I use Foxfire as a browser.
  6. Sheraton. Yes, I understand that parking charges are common in downtown Seattle, but $38.00 is a very significant amount, specially for people traveling on business who may have limits on their daily expenditures. Also, I researched Priceline's 4*s in Seattle, and Sheraton does not specify the amount of their parking charge anywhere on their website--- as does Hilton, the Edgewater etc. Further, their charge is $10.00 more than either of those hotels.
  7. Although the price for this hotel is probably OK, it imposes a $38.00 valet parking charge ---no self-parking or other options available--- which effectively increases the cost of the room by almost 50%. PRICELINE characterizes this charge as "incidental." I think that it's basically a fraudulent business practice on their part.
  8. Hilton Suites Anaheim/Orange - 10-22-08 to 10-23-08 $69.00 Suite Fitness, Pool, Restaurants, Biz Center, Hi-speed internet. The hotel imposes an additional $11.00 self-parking charge.
