1. Used the BetterBidding.com PRICELINE link! Thanks. Maybe not my best deal ever, but a lot cheaper tha PRICELINE EXPRESS deals & hotel sites on 3.5* on my first bid... oops! Now I can check this off the list for a last-minute cruise from Seattle. Are there any suggestions for shuttle to the SMITH COVE CRUISE TERMINAL 2001 W. Garfield Street for Princess Cruises?
2. I have to report we were *extremely* pleased with this property. It's a short walk to the Capitol and Union Station. The Red Line Big Bus (Hop-on Hop-off) stops at the front door, so most tourist stops were very easy to get to. Rooms were nice and clean. Staff was friendly and helpful to first-time visitors to DC. Food was good in the restaurant. Like everywhere else in DC, parking was expensive! We'll skip the rent car next time. Thanks again, betterbidding.com !
3. Bid $81, $92 White House - Downtown + Silver Spring (4*) Bid $95 after adding Capitol Hill - Convention Center (4*) I think this is a pretty good price for a short-notice tourist weekend in DC. Parking will be a killer at $48. Does anyone have alternate parking suggestions? Overall I'm very pleased. Used your PRICELINE link. Thank you BetterBidding.com!
4. Won on the 4th Round of Bids. Westminster 5* $175 Westminster 4* $155 Westminster + Mayfair-Soho 4* $167 Westminster + Mayfair-Soho + Wembly 4* $179 Westminster + Mayfair-Soho + Wembly + Hammersmith 4* $189 Won This looks like a nice, new property.
5. Won on third 24 hour bid set: My bids today: Heathrow 5* $101 Heathrow 4* + $105 Heathrow 4* + Luton $115 Heathrow 4* + Luton +Stansfed $125 Won Total $163.11 with fees Maybe not the best deal I've ever had, but probably fair. Thanks for the PRICELINE link & Thanks for the help, betterbidding.com!
6. Bids yesterday $71, $76, $81. All rejected. Bid today $75, came back with a "...are you willing to try a $95 bid?". In the interest of time, responded "yes" and got it. Was that message what is considered a counteroffer from Priceline? Could/would they have rejected it even if I did respond "yes"? Could I have bid less than $95 and gotten it, or would they have rejected anything less than $95? Regardless, I'm happy with a $95 3.5* room
7. Report on the stay: This was our first attempt at a Priceline reservation. We were pleased to have gotten the Westin at a great rate. Arrived around 8:30AM after disembarking a cruise, expecting to stow our bags until late in the day. We were immediately given a room. Clean room. Great hotel. Well worth much more than the $125 we paid. The desk clerk even took my frequent customer number in case we had any miscellaneous charges, so we even racked up some points (not for the room!). Before we left for Seattle, we ordered and received a Passbook coupon book. Smart move. We saved $28 alone on dinner at the restaurant in the Hotel for a DELICIOUS meal! I'll do the passbook thing again when traveling. It saved us about $50 around Seattle over two days. Thanks for the help BETTERBIDDING.COM members!
8. I have been bidding for a Seattle DT 4* for 7/16/08 - 7/18/08 using up to 5 re-bids each time by adding areas without 4* properties. Over this 4th of July holiday I have bid higher than I would have thought needed and all bids have been rejected. There are several possible reasons: 1) It's a really busy period with few vacancies. 2) It's just expensive in Seattle downtown and I just got lucky when I won a night in Seattle 4* 7/25/08-7/26/08 for $125. 3) Priceline and/or the hotels' set the bar high on holiday weekends and go home! If you want to win a room, you have to PAY! Does anyone have any thoughts about bidding strategies over holiday weekends or Seattle DT 4* for my specific dates?
9. I made 6 sets of bids over 6 days (1 bid + 3 rebids per day). Lowest bid $77. Highest Bid $125. Last bid set $90, $100, $115, $125. I got Westin, downtown. I've also bid 7/16/08-7/18/08 $72 to $125 and have not won a room yet. Will continue trying. Does anyone have any strategy suggestions? We're trying to sandwich a cruise with pre & post rooms.
