  1. I thought of that...figuring that sometimes Priceline lets you add a night after you accept, but I'm already staying at the Marriott Seaview for work on Sunday night...so really didn't want to switch hotels (possibly) 3 times...at this point in the process, I'm thinking our "nice weekend getaway" will just be too expensive, so I may reduce my stay to 1 nite (5/2) if we stay at all - if I do, I'll post my information. My maximum bid was going to be $110-125/night (depending on the number of nights). It's amazing the price difference Sunday thru Thursday...the same hotels that are $200-300 per night on the weekend are $49-$79 per night (thru their websites)...guess AC is really just a resort town and for those of us that work a normal M-F job are out of luck.
  2. I'm looking for a 3 or 3 1/2 Star hotel this weekend (5/1-5/3) in Atlantic City or Absecon. (might even go as far as Ocean City...but would prefer not). I've already placed the following bids: 3* Atlantic City for $90 - offer came up for $171 per night rebid 3* with Absecon for $100 (rejected) closed and started over w PRICELINE Link 3.5 * Atlantic City and Absecon at $100 (offer for $192 per night) rebid 3* for both areas again at $110 (rejected). Am I too low?? Looking at HOTWIRE and the PRICELINE prices, I noticed Friday night (5/1) is a lot cheaper than Saturday - could that be why the prices seem so high for "offers"? Reg rates were showing around $179 for Friday and $229 for Saturday. Guess the recession has not hit AC yet :-) Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
  3. I have to say this was one of my worst stays in a hotel in the DC area...and because of the issues, I will NEVER use priceline again to stay in the New Carrollton / Largo area...I'd rather stay in Annapolis and drive 20 minutes to the Metro. The hotel was in a Corporate Office Park, so not a bad area, but forget the staff at the hotel doing work. First issue: TV would turn itself off and on (by itself) including at 2 AM and 5 AM!!! When I explained what happened at the Front Desk the next morning, Maintenance was right there and said they would look into it...probably just needed to be "reset" - me, I think the TV needed a good kick out the window. When I returned back to the hotel that evening, they said the TV was fixed...wrong...again, while watching it kept turning itself off...so I had the Front Desk send someone to help me move the TV so I could unplug it before I went to bed, then I could not watch it in the morning, since unplugging it caused programming issues. Again, the 3rd day, the Front Desk said the TV had been replaced...long story short...it had not, and I even had a witness who saw the TV turn itself off by itself (another maintanence guy) and he verified the TV had not been replaced. 2nd Issue: Sleep Number Bed did not work properly....felt lumpy and no support at all...was supposed to be changed out (like the TV) but it wasn't...I ended up sleeping on all the extra blankets and bedspreads I could find in the room to make it halfway comfortable. 3rd Issue: Restaurant overcharged me for a Ceasar Salad...said my price was from an OLD menu in my room...well, then it should have been replaced. One postive was the Shuttle/Maintanence person, Frank, who was very nice and did his best to try and make my stay better, but other staff members seemed to not care...just standing around getting paid to do nothing....yes, I'm very disappointed in this hotel. and for those that might ask, why didn't I change rooms? There were none available the first night...and by the third (final) night when they finally said they could move me at 9:30 PM, I was too tired to pack up everything just to move for a few hours.
  4. 3rd try (day) worked. 1st bid $14 per day + 1.88 bonus - for midsize and then standard 2nd bid $15 per day + 1.88 bonus - for midsize and then standard 3rd bid accepted for midsize Offer Price Summary Bonus Cash Per Day: $1.88 (per day) - was a $15 total bonus....spread out over 8 days. Your Offer Price Per Day: $15.00 (per day) Total Offer Price with Bonus: $16.88 (per day) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Total Charges to Your Credit Card Your Offer Price: $15.00 (per day) Total Rental Days: 8 days(7 days and 6 1/2 hours) Subtotal: $120.00 Taxes and Fees: $79.86 Total Charges: $199.86 Lowest Published Price: $298.99 Total Savings:* $99.13 (You saved 33%) Note: Had a reservation with BUDGET for $246 - $16 rebate = $230, so was not going to bid more than $15/day Also, saw on their winning bids site that mid-size cars were going for $14-15. Also, on my first tries, it said a good chance winning bid was $40-42 (yeah, right) when I tried again (after checking their winning bids website) it said good chance winning bids were $20-21. (Budget's regular rate for me). So, not that much of a savings, but still saved about 15% over a regular reservation...this is my first time renting a car through PRICELINE, so we shall see how it goes...my hotels have been very good.

  7. 1st Bid $49 + $5 bonus = $54 - not accepted 2nd Bid $52 + $5 bonus = $57 - not accepted looking to stay for 3 nights in late july mid-week - 2.5 * hotel "We searched hundreds of options to find your hotel room, however we can't accept your offer of $52, plus your $5 in free bonus money, per room, per night. Your credit card has not been charged. If you are willing to raise your price by $15, you can try the same request again right now. Normally you are required to change additional items (add zones, star level, or dates) in order to try your request again. However we are able to extend this one-time opportunity to you because of the zone, quality level and dates you requested. " the last time I did this I got a 3* hotel, that was okay, but about a mile away from where I wanted to stay....and paid $20 more a night....all I need is a bed and to feel safe. I'm really trying to get the Courtyard in New Carrollton (or 2nd choice the 4 Seasons Sheraton) as my office is right across the street. I've seen accepted bids of $53 and $55 for these hotels few stays a few weeks ago (mid-week stays)...I'm now at $57 (if the bonus money really works)...and I get the above message...should I wait another 24 hrs and add a few dollars to keep my same bid? I've called both hotels and they have MANY rooms available, so I know they are not sold out. I know my other choice would be to add areas that are closer, but I'm not too keen on some of those areas and how safe they are and I'm very familiar with Annapolis. So my other choice is staying in Annapolis, like I've done in the past and drive about 25 minutes. Best Rates I could find online are: Courtyard $134, Four Points $97.50 Appreciate your thoughts or comments on similar bids. P.S. Yes, I'm placing my bids through this site's PRICELINE link :)
