$56 + taxes & fees ~$70. Parking $12. Amenities: Airport Shuttle/Complimentary Breakfast/Fitness Center/ Pool/Restaurant/Business Center. Used BB HOTWIRE Link. The good: Clean, convenient, decent hot breakfast. Free wired internet. The bad: Best price on hotel website was $59, so would have been a bit cheaper if booked direct since no Hotwire fee.
Decided to try for San Diego Coastal 4*. Started at $88 and ran through free rebid zones until finally accepted at $124. Hilton La Jolla Torrey Pines. Used PRICELINE link. Thanks for the tips.
Decided to try for 4* Downtown. Used PRICELINE link. Bid at $4 increments starting at $87 using free rebid zones. Rejected through $127. Will try for Shelter Island 3* next.
Looking for 2 rooms, 3* Aug. 5-6 either Shelter Island/Old Town or Downtown/Harbor Island. Bids @ $95 & 96 today were rejected. Marriott (and affiliates) are sold out on that date. Bidding strategy suggestions would be appreciated.
2 Rooms. (Used BB PRICELINE link) Bid $40 for 3* - rejected. Ignored counteroffer of $52, but added 2.5* and rebid at $42, also rejected. Probably a couple bucks too low. Will try again tomorrow.
I did use the above link to get to PRICELINE. The all-in price from Hertz is $428 (Costco rate). As I have Hertz Gold status, it isn't worth the trouble to go through Priceline unless I can save at least $75 - $100. As I've seen successful bids in the high-teens (abeit for different dates), $25 didn't seem unreasonable. Perhaps I should wait until closer to my travel date, then up the bid to $30?
Full size - $25/day -- Rejected. Before bidding, PL's recommendation was $46-48, which is not much less than I would pay with a regular reservation through Hertz. Any suggestions?
