  1. I'm looking to bid for 4 nites in NY right after New Year's. Based on the prices I've seen on various 4 * hotel web site it looks like this is a slack period. I've seen rooms on the Starwood and Hilton web site for under $200/nite ($189 at the NY Hilton for example). I've seen winning bids for $120 at the NY Hilton on this forum. Based on date and prices found, do you think this period would be a good time to win such a bid? I consider $120 for a 4* in Manhattan an excellent deal. Thanks.
  2. I never bid on any of these. Plans changed and went elsewhere.
  3. From what I've researched the only 3* unless things have changed is the HI Pompano Beach which is fine. Lowest rate on HI website is $86/nite which is a prepaid rate. Next lowest is $90/nite. Max willing to bid is $75/nite. Only free rebid zone in Ft Lauderdale for a 3* is Miramar I believe. Need 1 room. Thanks!
  4. Got it on the first try. Marriott Courtyard Palm Desert for $41/nite. I'm stoked! Thanks for the help!
  5. Thanks. I'm trying to work through your logic. So you are saying sign into Priceline, bid $41 in PD only, if rejected close out my browser without signing out, go back in, sign in again (I dont save my signons), bid $46 in PS only, if rejected add PD and bid $51. What does closing out the browser and going back in do? Sorry, guess I'm missing something.
  6. 1. Palm Springs 2. Acceptable Zones: Palm Springs, Palm Desert-Rancho Mirage 3. Check-in: 12/26/04 4. Check-out: 12/31/04 5. 1 Room 6. 2.5* 7. Marriott Courtyard Palm Springs: $76/nite Marriott Courtyard Palm Desert: $84/nite Holiday Inn Express Palm Desert: $96/nite 8. Marriott.com Holidayinnexpress.com 9. No free rebid zones. There are 2.5* in both zones. 10. Maximum Willing to Bid: $55/nite
  7. Does anyone know what hotel or hotels fall in this category in RM/PD area? Thanks
  8. 72 hrs? Then how come when I try to rebid on a rental car for this weekend I'm being told I cant because this is the same bid I placed within the last 7 days (original bid was done a week ago today)?
  9. If I've had unsuccessful bids on Priceline how long do I have to wait to rebid all over again using the same selections? I thought it was like a week or 10 days. Thanks.
  10. Sorry about that! Yes, I'd like to do absolutely no more than $60. I'm looking at the web rates for hotels in those zones and everything is running over $100/nite so if there is any way I can snag smothing for max $60 that would be great. Of course, will definitely take a 3* at that price but am willing to go down to 2*. Also, has to be in those zones. Thanks!
  11. Need one nite only in Arlington/Crystal City/National Airport area Willing to do 2 1/2 or 2* Sorry, don't have complete data on current rates for that nite. I'm typing this with only the above info to provide. Thanks!
  12. 1. New Orleans 2. Desired Zone: French Quarter Second Choice: CBD 3. Check-in: 10/1 4. Check-out: 10/5 5. 2 people, 1 room 6. Free rebid zones: Garden District, NO East, NO West Bank 7. Current rates for these dates: Wyndam Bourbon Orleans (FQ) - $197/nite Hyatt Regency (CBD) - $135/nite Radisson (CBD) - $139/nite All of these rates found on hotels web site. Thanks!
  13. and perhaps closed. Just read on TOBB that sale could go thru by early Sept and hotel could possibly close. I went to Marriott's web site and put in ficticious dates in Sept and Oct and Mountain Shadows was not one of the options that came up. Oh well, that probably explains why I did not get this a couple of weeks ago when I bid $30+ for a 3* hotel in Scottsdale over Labor Day weekend. Just thought everyone would like to know.
  14. You're right, MS is NOT a free rebid zone. UES is. Thanks! Guess I'll learn to go onto PL and do as you suggested rather than depend on anyone's "list." I'll let you know how I do. Don't worry, you caught me in time. I hadnt started bidding yet.
  15. Yeah, sorry, guess I've spent too much time on TOBB. I'm indoctrinated into automatically formatting requests that way. Sorry 'bout that! :) OK, your NY hotel list shows Midtown South as another free rebid zone so you're right, but I was also checking the list on TOBB and they list 1 4* hotel in Midtown South, Morgans, so that is why I didnt list MS as a free rebid zone. The only zone on their list that doesnt have a 4* is UWS. Just wondering. I know, I probably shouldnt be going back and forth across lists like this but I tend to use all available resources even if ultimately my bid will be thru SavingsBarn.com and not "their" requested link. I'll let you know how I do.
  16. I was fairly certain I could get this property for $30 as I've seen quite a few people get it at that rate. Thanks again.
  17. First selected 3* Scottsdale zone and bid $30: rejected Free rebid with Fountain Hills zone, increased bid to $33: rejected Second free rebid with Phoenix West, increased bid to $35: rejected Added Tempe zone (not a free rebid), increased bid to $38: rejected (so much for getting the Mountain Shadows for a cheap rate!:)) Added Mesa zone and lowered bid to $30, got Hilton Mesa, which I am very happy with. Also, won bid on SavingsBarn.com, which I will use for all future bidding. Details: Check-in date: 9/4/04 for 3 nites Subtotal: $90.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $18.20 Total Charges: $108.20
  18. 1. NYC 2. Southstreet Seaport - Financial District 3. Check-in: 12/26/04 4. Check-out: 12/31/04 5. 1 room 6. 4* 7. Millenium Hilton: $189.00/nite Embassy Suites: $160.65/nite (Only 2 4* hotels listed in this zone) 8. Hilton.com Embassysuites.com (both Hilton owned) 9. Free rebid zones: Upper West Side 10. Max willing to bid: $140.00 Am willing to go down to a 3* property in same zone but it must be Financial District only. UWS is a free rebid zone for 3* also as I believe 2.5* is highest rated hotel in UWS zone. Thanks!
  19. I've read on another BB that some people who've gotten rooms at Hiltons thru PL are given the least desirable rooms in the hotel, whether that be because of location or whatever. Has anyone had a problem with this? If this isnt on the right forum feel free to move it. I wasnt sure what category this would fall under. Thanks!
  20. Thanks! I'm planning on bidding this Fri morning so will post what I want to do ahead of time.
  21. Gotcha. So my free rebid zones would be any zone that doesnt have a resort in it, correct?
  22. I have a question when bidding for a resort on Priceline. If you select the 'Resort' category and you don't get your first bid, are you able to downgrade to a 4 or 3* category? In other words will any category of hotel quality be blacked out (i.e. if you bid initially on a 3* you cant choose a 4* on your next try)?
  23. And yes, I've rented cars at Sky Harbor before and am very aware of the taxes involved. We just went over Memorial Day weekend and my $18/day mid-size car from National (which btw I did get on Priceline) came to over $80 total for 3 days.
