  1. We stayed at the Grand Hyatt during the last weekend in April, 2008. Like yourself, we won a single queen bed room. I e-mailed a week before asking for two doubles only to be refused. Got to the hotel walked up to reception and to our surprise the check in assistant offered us a choice of either a single queen or two doubles without me even asking. So, hopefully (fingers crossed), if you are unable to secure a double before you check in you still maybe offered a twin room upon on arrival. PS. I'm not a frequent hotel stayer but the Grand is a really nice hotel, in an excellent location. Have a great trip
  2. ******RESULT******* Managed to secure the Grand Hyatt for $165 (total $568 inc. taxes for 3 nights). Hope this a good choice. Cheers for all your help
  3. I'll be arriving NYC on thursday 24th and leaving Sunday 27th I'll give this a shot. If i raise my max to to $195 could you suggest a plan? thanks for your advice once again. PS. Keep forgetting to query this, but on the last stratergy posted, on the final bidding block for the $145-$155 range it writes: Select 4* MTW and MTW... Bid $145, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $150, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $155, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously. Should there be two MTW's?
  4. Do you reckon i could get this same hotel cheaper on PRICELINE?
  5. I'm paying $189 for the first two nights then $209 for the last night.
  6. Quick update: Only 7 days before departure and still not secured a Pricline hotel but have now got a reservation at the Milford Plaza (through Quikbook). Looks like this is where we'll be staying if Priceline doesn't come through for me in the next few days. :) Will keep you updated if things change PS. Can anyone reccommend nice places to have breakfast around Milford Plaza hotel area.
  7. Managed to book the Jolly Hotel Madison Towers as a backup for $210 per night (cancellable) through Quikbook. Lets hope priceline can deliver me a gem before i depart in april. Still trying though :-)
  8. If you could ammend the stratergy to reflect my highest bid value of $185 then that'll be much appreciated. Cheers
  9. Just a quick update. I've tried for a few weeks using the stratergy given but have been unsucessful. So, tonight i tried downgrading to 3* and using the stratergy. But alas, still no luck. Will stick with it though and in the mean time i will book a back up hotel (which i should have done a long time ago :) ) will keep you posted Question: If i was to increase my max bid to $185 do i simply add $15 to each individual bid given in the stratergy? Thanks
  10. Been trying this strategy with no luck so far. Will persevere a while longer before deciding to include 3* in my bidding.
  11. Thanks for the stratergy. I'll give it a try over the next few days and provide you with an update.
  12. Don't really have the funds to go above my max bid but, ideally i would like to search for a 4* first and then if unsucessful i would have to lower down to a 3*. Cheers
  13. Cheers for the info folks. My max bid amount would be $170
  14. OMG, this is starting to confuse me a little now. The original budget in my first post was inclusive of taxes. As i am not sure about how tax is calculated i was assuming it was a one off payment ..........or is a percentage of the bid price??????????? HELP!!!
  15. Not particularly. I left them out as I thought it would be way above my budget. But you never know, there may be a bargain to had in these zones if i'm lucky? I guess there is no harm in including these zones Also, i should be able to stretch my budget, inclusive of tax, to $185
  16. Hi All I've never used priceline/hotwire before so hope this forum can help me out! I looking to book a hotel for 3 nights (04/24 to 04/27). I would prefer to stay in the MTS, MTE or MTW area's ( would liketo be close to the shopping centres, Empire State etc.). However, the other zones are also acceptable apart from SoHo My budget is approx between $150 & $165 per night, please can some advice on a strategy bid amounts etc. Ideally would like a 4* but a good 3* is ok too. If you require any further info please ask and i'll do my best to answer. Many thanks folks
