  1. You're right - my mistake, it is 3.5 stars
  2. Had a really lovely stay here last week, and were hoping to get the same place again for the last few days of our road trip - and we did! Original bid at
  3. Sorry for adding this late, but forgot to put it up earlier. Stayed at this hotel, and got upgraded to a harbourside view room even though we booked through PRICELINE. Hotel was really really lovely, incredible given what we paid.
  4. hmm, topic should be 3.5* Seattle (Bellevue) Hilton Not sure what happened...
  5. Originally tried for downtown seattle, but even at 3* was having no luck within our price range, so moved to Bellevue. Tried for the 4* in Bellevue but again got nothing, so bid
  6. Is that for 2/21 to 2/29, because I can't see a 4* MTE hotel for those dates at $126
  7. There's also fixed accomodation taxes, and fees as you said. I just checked on priceline to confirm, and as I thought, a bid of $155 works out to almost exactly $185
  8. Tax and fees will roughly work out to an extra 20% of the amount you bid. When you bid on Priceline, it will show you how much the total (including taxes and fees) comes to before you confirm your bid. If your maximum is $185 including taxes, then you shouldn't bid much above $155.
  9. If you click 'continue', you'll see that the Tripadvisor rating and number of reviews are given near the bottom of the information about the hotel.
  10. Assuming we're looking at the same one, the tripadvisor review number and rating precludes the Sofitel
  11. We've now booked a room at the Pod Hotel, but around $128 night + tax and charges, working out at about $160ish night. We can cancel this up to a week before, and only pay $25, which we'd be happy to do if we found a 4* on Priceline for around $150 a couple of weeks before. Are Downtown and MTS very 'out' of it, or can they be cheaper if you don't mind a bit of public transport each day?
  12. If I understand it correctly, the problem is that Priceline only guarantees double occupancy - it doesn't guarantee that you will get 2 beds. Therefore, if 2 beds is a must (as you say it is), then you can't use Priceline, and the only option is Hotwire. If you'd rather risk getting only one bed for a lower price, then you can try priceline, but they can't guarantee 2 beds. You need to choose which you want before thereuare can help you :)
  13. Our budget's still the same, I guess, but we probably wouldn't want to pay quite as much. Maybe max of $160/night inc taxes, so $135 bid. I haven't managed to find any hotels for anywhere near that on Priceline or elsewhere, so may well consider looking at just booking somewhere if I could find it cheapyl. I don't have a backup yet, but it's still quite far away, so not sure if I should worry.
  14. Thanks for the help! I followed the instructions, and went up to $166/night (which is my maximum, including tax) and couldn't get anywhere. Not sure whether to try in a few days, or go for a 3*. My worry with a 3* is that someone has got the Sheratton Manhattan for those dates, and it sounds pretty horrid after reading the reviews on TA - wouldn't want to go there. If I did go for a 3* then presumably I could bid a lot lower? Any advice appreciated!
  15. Sorry, just realised I posted this in Hotwire and not in Priceline - could an admin move it?
  16. Heya, first time to New York and to Priceline. I understand that the best areas to stay for tourists are MTE, MTW, UM/CPS and Times Square. If this right? Ideally, I don't want to spend more than $200 including taxes, so I guess I can't big more than ~$165. Do you think it might be possible to get a 4* hotel at this time for that kind of money? I know that people are getting them for less than that at the moment, but I don't know what the difference in price will be between now and mid March. Thanks in advance
