  1. Could the first one be the Hampton Inn ? I won Hampton on a PRICELINE side , but while there, met someone who bought on the HOTWIRE side.
  2. 3* Chicago Suburbs (Oakbrook-Downers Grove) Holiday Inn Oakbrook $32 ... 8/17/09-8/21/09 Also, the review is as follows: This was my first time to get the dreaded Holiday Inn in this area. Checked in and got one of the special "priceline" rooms. (slightly smaller, paisley bedspreads and no chair for reading or working desk). Room also needed cleaning. Went downstairs and requested a new room assignment. New room was larger, better linens, work desk and comfortable chair for reading. Room still needs a carpet shampoo and the dust is pretty bad in bathroom shelves. I carry Lysol cleaning wipes so I gave it my routine cleaning as I normally would. The bed itself is very comfortable and is a newer pillowtop style. The hotel offers free appetizers for priority club members in the evenings. I was "carded" , not for my id for the drink but for my priority id for the appetizers. lol. There is a hot tub/whirlpool. Upon inspection, both look clean but I did not use the facilities. The workout room is adequate but located right in the indoor pool area. There is a small gift shop where one can buy softdrinks, snacks, haagen daaz ice cream treats. Fairly reasonable prices for a gift shop. Less expensive than the hotel vending machines. The 3rd floor has a guest laundry washer/dryer 1.25 per load. It's an older hotel, hallways are dingy, carpet very worn and the room doors are dented / metal. They do provide a complimentary microwave / mini fridge upon request and availability. The business center has been relocated permanently to the hotel lobby. There is one computer and a printer. They charge is 39 cents per minute minimum of 3.00 to use the machine. One can swipe a credit card and use it. There is free wifi access for guest rooms and all common areas of the hotel. One thing different about this hotel is that they do offer more international television channels, 2 indian channels, 2 spanish channels. I have not figured out how to access a pay per view movie. Does not seem to work. Hotel desk did not have instructions couldn't assist. Not a big deal , but, would have liked to use this a couple times. There is a shuttle that will take guests anywhere within a 5 mile radius. The hotel has an onsite restuarant and bar area. I did not eat there so I can't evaluate it. Appetizers were below average but free. I would avoid this hotel at all costs if you are buying it at retail prices. At 32.00 , I'm completely satisfied. There are minor issues here and there like any hotel, but, for this price I'm not going to whine. It has met my needs / expectations and I'm satisfied.

  4. Okay doke, I no longer need assistance , so please take me off the waiting list. I bought a HOTWIRE room for 2 stars in Itasca area for 28 , ammenities shown were complimentary breakfast, gym, laundry, hs internet, golf. It turned out to be a Days Inn in Elk Grove , IL. I entered a new request for 3 star in Oakbrook Lombard Downers Grove priceline and got the Holiday Inn in Oakbrook the bid ws accepted on first try at 35. Thanks! P.S. Just to confirm, I used the site link as it is bookmarked permanently for me.
  5. I bought this hotel to see what it was for 28.00 on HOTWIRE. 2 star hotel in Itasca area, IL zone on hotwire. DAYS INN 1000 W Devon Ave, Elk Grove Village, IL Ammenities Icons shown were Complimentary Breakfast, Gym, Laundry, HS Internet, Golf I believe it is not currently on the master hotwire hotel list.
  6. Update, I tried again at 30 in a 3 * in Oakbrook Lombard Downers Grove area zone for arrival on Saturday and out on Monday. (Thought I would shorten it / book the 2nd leg next). I was rejected for the 2 night stay. It counter offered again at 38.00. I decided to change my arrival date for Monday as it's getting too late and this works better for me too. Do you think that the price points are changing within the zone ? I've been watching this zone / posts and seems some are bidding 34 and 35 for 3 stars in this zone / area where 30 previously worked. I met lots of travellers who are using this at hotel and they reported similar results.
  7. Yesterday, I entered a priceline request for Oakbrook Lombard Downers Grove zone area for 2.5* @ 30 for eight days. Check in for this Sat 8/15 . I was rejected and it asked me to counteroffer for 8 dollars more. I tried to do my first attempt with a rebid. I used Algonquin and raised my price to 31.00. I was again regected. I did not do anything else. Not sure what to do next ? It locked me out until tonight for 24 hour suspension before I can rebid. I've won bids in this area at 2.5 * and 3* @ 30. Do you think the rate has changed is now higher ? How do i enter extra rebids ? I do not see other areas on North Shore available as choices for me to enter ? For this stay, I would like a strategy for Oakbrook and a strategy for something in the Northbrook / Glenview / North Shore area. Either option can work fine for me. How do you go back / forth in the same bid ? It does not seem to be a choice for me to choose a new area other than the few that are listed. Thanks for your thoughts.
  8. Just a note to say that I made a bid for 2 1/2 star in the area zone of Oakbrook Downers Grove Lombard and was accepted and assigned to Hampton Inn. I did use the PRICELINE link from this site. Just wanted to say THANKS to everyone for their help.
  9. Thanks so much for your response. I made the bid for 2 days through Priceline instead of Hotwire. I was assigned Hyatt Place in Lombard a 3 star hotel in the area zone of Oakbrook Lombard Downers Grove for 30.00. I owe a BIG , BIG APOLOGY. I goofed and forgot to click on this link. I was multi tasking and it slipped by me. I PROMISE, when I bid this coming week for the balance of this stay, I will use the link properly! SORRY!!! I really appreciate this site and the administrators and better bidders that frequent. Will do what I can to contribute. Thanks.
  10. What about trying for a priceline bid 3 stars in Oakbrook Downers Grove Lombard zone area for 30.00. I just got Hyatt Place. At that price you can get 2 rooms. pull out bed / king or pull out bed and 2 queens w/ free continental breakfast. IM me if you would like details. Hope you and your family have a great stay!
  11. does anyone have an idea of the id of a hotwire hotel 2 star / amenities complimentary breakfast, fitness center, pool, business center, high speed internet , golf nearby the stay is for 7/17 to 7/27. any thoughts / guidance would be appreciated. thanks!
  12. I could live with everything but those ants/silverfish bugs. I paid very little money , so , I am satisfied with the transaction. However, going forward, I wouldn't stay at this hotel. I would try their hotels in other areas. This location was just too rough of a property for them to have bought and tried to upgarde. No amount of paint / furnishings can bury the memory of the former hotel. THANK YOU very much for sharing your thoughts and experience.
  13. Hi Was wondering if anything be done to ask Priceline some questions re: Hotel Indigo ? This "Schaumburg North" zone is incorrect in location / was recently changed. I think they should change it back. I'm sure the hotel had enough weight to get this done. IMO, it is misleading to consumers. This hotel is not anywhere close to a 3 star hotel. Can customers request that the re evaluate this ? Not sure that they will respond to one request, but, if other members think appropriate perhaps over time they will change the rating to be more accurate or it will force the hotel to raise the standards. Fix things that are broken and get an exterminator service. Other than the major facilties issues, the hotel would be acceptable. Overall, the staff is very good. When using priceline bidding in Schaumburg, and you want to avoid 3 star properties (Hotel Indigo), does anyone know if you can , select either 2 stars or 3.5 stars only ? If you select a 2star will it "UPGRADE" you to a 3 star / possibly Hotel Indigo ? If you select a 3.5 star is there anyway that priceline will offer you the 3 star ? If you bid higher in $$ in a 3 star , does that mean that you will possibly get another 3 star other than Indigo , or just pay more for Indigo ? Was wondering if there are price teirs within the software of priceline in addition to the star teirs ? I thought I read here in one of the tutorial posts that the $$ has nothing to do with the choice one is awarded. Just thought I would clarify with the experts. I may have to change my zones for next hotel to avoid this hotel. Alternatively, I may have to learn how to use the hotwire product.
  14. I have stayed there and it's a good hotel. The only issue is that you have to pay 10 per day for internet service. Due to the location, one needs a rental car to get around if you are there longer than a couple days. It is about a 15 minute ride to get to the station at Cumberland. From there, it is a 10 minute ride to get downtown. The hotel was clean and had a restaurant and a place for coffee. Staff was very good.
  15. Sorry I didn't get this post done correctly. The stay at hotel Indigo was for June 15 - June 22. Overall, the staff were EXCELLENT employees, I appreciated their helpfulness. Unfortunate that the hotel itself is lacking so much as is the physical condition of the hotel.
  16. Last week (Thursday), I think, I bidded for a hotel in Schaumburg. I got the Hotel Indigo for 30.00 on the first bid for a 3 star in the Schaumburg area using Priceline. The hotel is very cheap at that price , but , is really quite a dive. Luggage cart broken, desk light does not work, handle for faucet broken, hairdryer does not work, internet in room is with a cable and does not work / must go to lobby to get wireless there, small ants in bathroom. Hotel shuttle runs 2 hours in morning and 2 hours in evening when they run. If the driver calls in sick, there is no shuttle for that day. They charge 10 per day for use of mini fridge. same fee for mircrowave.
  17. A second review of this hotel is that it's really run down. The luggage cart has a flat wheel. The shuttle driver takes off and has no back up for that day , it just does not run. When the shuttle does run, it is from 7 - 9 am and from 5 - 7 pm and that's it for the day. There are bikes available for guest use, I suppose these are offered because the shuttle doesn't run ? Not sure. There is ONE working washer /dryer and it does not work well. The other one is broken. Total of 2 units for entire hotel. The wireless access advertised , means wireless in the lobby only. There is cable access from the desk in the guestroom. The desk lamp and hairdryer do not work. The hotel door has a huge crack all the way across it on the diagonal and they have glued it together and painted it. If you want a mini fridge or a microwave they will bring one down to your room but the charge is 10 per unit per day. If you stayed 30 days at this hotel that would be 600 dollars for the use of a mini fridge/microwave. Seems a bit expensive to me. There is no guest microwave anywhere in a common area to share. I do not understand how this hotel got into the priceline Schaumburg bidding zone area as it's located in Palatine. Other Palatine hotels are in the other zone. I'm sure someone paid someone dearly at Priceline to change the bidding territory to get this lousy hotel included. This makes it difficult to bid in Schaumburg to avoid this hotel. It's classified as a 3 star in Schaumburg. I would give it a 1 at best. Most of the time I'm pretty generous. The only thing positive is that it's very cheap.
  18. Sorry 4 posting in wrong place / please note that I used PRICELINE . (my mistake). Too long of a day ! Your Price Was Accepted (USED PRICELINE) Congratulations, you got your price of $35 for a 2
