  1. This is my betting history for 4 nights from the 1st April 2009 to no success... Any ideas? Monday 27th Oct (last bid 19.24) bid 1 -
  2. Hi there! I'm going to Hong Kong again in 2009 and I would like some (of your friendly) assistance and a betting strategy for my stay in Hong Kong. I would like to stay in a 4* (or better) hotel in Hong Kong (Central Kowloon and Tsim Sha Tsui only). I would like to check in from the 1st April 2009 and I will be checking out on the 19th April. What I'd also would like to know is... 1. I know 18 days might seem like a long time to book but I'm willing to break it up as I might also be travelling in China during my 18 day stay in Hong Kong. What's are the maximum (duration) amount of days allowed for me to stay in Hong Kong at reasonalbly cheap rates? From searching around, I'm getting the impression that the maximum allowed is 4 days. 2. How early should I start looking at bidding in general? I realise I might be a little early making a bid and that the inventary might not even be released. By the way, I'm willing to bid (ideally) no more than $150 including taxes. I can see in the past history of the BetterBidding forums on Hong Kong that the last 4* hotel (Eaton Hotel in Central Kowloon) was won for $90 per day for four days on the 2nd April 2007. I know this has been long (essay) but I've wrote down as much detail as I could to help you guys aiding me to getting a good deal. Thank you for taking your time reading this and many thanks in advance to all replies to this. P.S. If this is in the wrong section, can one of the mods help me move this or can you let me know where I should post this?
  3. I looked at previous bids and it looks like I got this cheap but I reckon I might have been able to get it even cheaper! First bid $66 for a 5* - Rejected. Then bid $66 for a 4* in this zone. Accepted at $66 per night! 2 Nights - $132.00 ($62 per night) Taxes - $16.22 TOTAL - $148.22
  4. After checking recent Hamburg bids on BetterBidding, my first bid of
  5. Thanks for all your help but I'm going to give up on this one... According to blindman I had 6 free bids but they were all unsuccessful! I hope my bidding history helps other people though but I really couldn't get a room in Central Kowloon or Tsim Sha Tsui for the 5th March 2008 for 5 nights. $70 - 11/01 12.50am $90 - 11/01 1.00am $92 - 12/01 3.30am $94 - 12/01 3.33am $96 - 13/01 2.49pm $98 - 13/01 2.52pm $100 - 13/01 2.57pm $102 - 13/01 3.00pm $104 - 13/01 3.04pm $106 - 13/01 3.07pm
  6. Probably about $100 per night. I could stretch it to $105... What do you reckon?
  7. I did 4 bids on priceline for a 4* hotel that I need in Hong Kong this morning. I need the hotel in the areas of Tsim Sha Tsui or Central Kowloon and I need it on the 5th March 2008 for 5 nights. All these bids were unsuccessful. $70 - 12th Jan 12.50am $88 - 12th Jan 1.00am $90 - 12th Jan 3.30am $92 - 12th Jan 3.33am Can anyone help me out? I will update progress this as I got along. P.S. I just want say a personal thanks to blindman who helped me understand the priceline strategy. In case you've not seen his excellent thread on the free Priceline bids that you can make, you can see it HERE!
  8. I seem to have missed it out. I need it for 5 days. Thanks.
  9. Thanks for that! I've posted all the information that I need for Shanghai and Hong Kong in separate threads. blindman, if you're a mod can you close this thread, thanks!
  10. I'm going to Shanghai and will hopefully arrive in Shanghai on Friday 29th Feb and require accomodation near Changning or near the Bund, checking out on Wednesday 5th March. Budget for Shanghai is probably around
  11. Thanks for your prompt reply! I've booked on priceline for a hotel in Amsterdam before so I'm aware of some of the pricing strategy needed but I want to say thanks anyway for the lovely tips that you showed me on moneysavingexpert.com... It's always good to get a refresher on what to do. I'm going to be in Hong Kong on Wednesday 5th March and need to check out on Sunday 16th March. I prefer to stay in Tsim Sha Tsui this time but I can stay in Mong Kok and 'push come to shove' I can stay around Central as well. I was hoping to spend around
  12. Which priceline website is the best for me to try and get as cheap as possible 4 or 5 star hotel in Hong Kong? Would it be... priceline.co.uk (UK's version of Priceline) priceline.com priceline.com.hk (Hong Kong's version of Priceline) I am a UK resident and I can bid on any of these three sites but I'm not sure which option is best for me to try and get 11 nights accomodation in March 2008. Many thanks in advance to all replies.
