Have tried a couple of times to win at previously reported $ 45/46 range with no luck. Started at $ 50 this time 3.5* level and won on the first bid. Chose the option to extend the stay for a night and so am actually staying on the 1st as well. Online price is $ 109 so not a bad deal.

Bid 2.5* andover at $ 32. Was offered a chance to get a hotel if I upped my bid by $ 8. Declined and added billerica and increased to $ 34.
Pretty good deal as it was upgraded to a 3*. Prices through Marriott are in the $ 179 range for that night and the least expensive price online was $ 99, so it is a very good deal. Not really what I wanted but how can I complain.

Tried 4* at $50 with no success. Dropped to 3.5* at $ 44. Rewarded with Sheraton. Parking is expensive but a good price considering it is $ 151 on other sites for the same night.

Looking for 2.5 or 3* in the Lowell area with no success. Finally followed previous post by Orionbob and had the same result.
Same day bid. Started at $70 and won with the first bid. Bid last night a variety of areas, star levels up to $60 with no success.
It sounds like the Emory Inn but it is 2.5* and in the past this has been a 3* property. Any thoughts?

It was excellent with a large room, full kitchen, free popron and as always a real breakfast. Great deal.
Tried Portland Me first upt to $ 65 for all areas up to $ 65 with no success. Won first bid of $ 50 for this property. Good price for a same day weekend bid in New England in the summer. Who know if it might have gone lower?
But Hotwire did not really beat Priceline here; the Inns of Banff is rated 2* by Priceline. Pretty much every case where Hotwire's price appears to be better than Priceline's is the result of Hotwire rating a particular hotel higher than Priceline does.
Interesting. I did not realize this. I'm guessing if I had dropped to 2* and bid on PRICELINE I may have done better. Thanks for the idea.
Started with downtown 4* at $ 60 failed. added airport + 3.5 * dropped to $ 58. Probably could have gone lower but all in all not a bad win.

One of those times when HOTWIRE beat PRICELINE. I bid to $ 80 on Priceline for 2.5* for the same dates with no success. I was hoping for a different property when I purchased but based on clues available thought this would probably be the hotel. For the time of year it is $ 25 / night less than any other alternative.

My mistake, it used to be a 4 * but it seems to have been downgraded to 3.5*
First bid of $ 46 in the Quebec zone won. I had bid a couple of times over the past week with no success into the high $ 50's using rebid zones so I was a bit surprised. Guess it proves to start early to give yourself time and keep at it. Used the link.
I was hoping to get the 3.5* Embassy Suites. Bid $ 46 Montreal Zone. Refused but offered a "one time opportunity" to increase my bid by $ 13 and get a hotel. I refused. Added Dorval. Stayed at 3.5*'s and upped bid to $ 48. Accepted at the Hyatt Regency (4* Montreal zone hotel). Would rather have had another hotel but this is part of the fun of PRICELINE. As always used the PRICELINE link from betterbidding.

Started at $ 39 adding a new zone and increasing by $ 1 per bid for 6 zones finally winning at $ 44 / night . Was willing to take 2.5 * (ie bidding for 2.5 +). Needed three rooms so I was happy to get a decent 3 star close to the I95.

Perhaps it is simply too far in advance but it is letting me bid so I thought it was worth trying. Perhaps hotels are expecting a huge turnaround. Anyhow, I bid north and south strip plus free rebid zones up to $ 150 for a 4* with no success. As I am new I thought it might be instructive for long range bidding in general. I know Vegas is different but was kind of surprised.
