  1. "Laundry" was not on the list of amenities. I did use the HOTWIRE link so I hope that showed up:-)
  2. Amenities: Smoke Free Rooms Complimentary Breakfast Fitness Center Pool(s) Business Center 1 room, 2 adults, 4 nights. Was going to do Priceline but liked the "certainty" of Hotwire. I knew I was going to get Chase Suites or Hyatt Place based on the amenities.
  3. forgot to add: Fitness Center Pool Restaurant Business Center High Speed Internet Tennis nearby Actually, it looks like it might be the Intercontinental...
  4. $109/night for May 14-18th. It doesn't match any on the list. It says "500+ total reviews" on Tripadvisor and I don't see any hotels in this area with that many reviews.
  5. Won Hilton New York MTW for $120 on first bid for 2/15/08 to 2/17/08. Wonder if I could have gone lower... Used SB PRICELINE link.
  6. Started out at: UMCP 100 MTW/UMCP 100/110 TS/MTW/UMCP 100/110/120 and got Hilton NY for $120/night. Used SavingsBarn link.
  7. Saw this 4* on Hotwire for $223. Tried MTW at $165 then added MTE and won for $175.
  8. Saw a 4* in DT/SOHO for $244 on HOTWIRE from Oct 19-22. Not sure how much longer that'll be available for. I believe it might be the Millennium Hilton. I've been tracking this weekend too b/c these are the dates I'll be there.
  9. Al, thereuare will probably be able to give you better recommendations on splitting your stay. It seems to me that Sunday night will be the one night when you'll be able to get the best deal since it's not a busy night. Six Columbus was a different hotel before and they have been renovating it for the last few years. I talked to them and they have 57 out of 88 rooms completed. They just opened last Monday. They said the renovation should not disturb your stay but who knows really huh? I believe Quikbook should be secure. If not you can call them and reserve it that way if that's something that you can do easily from the UK. The way it works with Quikbook is you secure your stay with a cc but you don't pay until after you've checked out of the room. And if you need to cancel, there's no fees. But you'll need to check the cancellation policy at the hotel first to see how far in advance you have to cancel. If you prepay your room through Quikbook, however, there will be something like a $10 fee if you cancel.
  10. One option you could do for Oct 20-22nd is Six Columbus 4* Upper Mid/CP (www.sixcolumbus.com). For a full it's $275 Sat and $165 Sunday (averages out to be $220/night), or a queen for $360 & $175 (average $268/night). It's newly renovated and just opened earlier this month. Found this on Quikbook.com . Rack rate on their website is $446-465/night. You could do this and see what you can priceline for the other two nights at the last minute.
  11. This is all very helpful information from blindman and katiesmom. I am actually looking to book the same weekend Oct 19-22. I have been keeping track of rates on Hotwire since 12Sep2007. On 13Sep2007, there was a 4* hotel in Times Square that was available for $259/night. That was down from the $300s and $400s. I didn't want to just jump on it because it was just too early. So what I did was look at the list of Hotwire hotels to match up which one it was and found that it was The Muse Hotel. I went to their website and booked a room for $279 as a cancellable back up. After I did that, their room rates went up to the $400s. I don't really want to pay $279 for a room so I think I will wait until the very last minute to Priceline. I have been Pricelining here and there around $200 to $215 in MTW, MTE, UM-CPS, and MTS but they've all been rejected. I read that October is a busy month in NYC. But as far as finding out what conventions are in town, does anyone know how to do that?
