I was using Priceline 1st and ended up bidding up to $60 for a 4 star and was rejected so I went to Hotwire and bought it for $59.

Got the Best Western Premier Ivy hotel for $125 a night, started at $100 and worked my way up in $5 intervals. Now trying to get another room for just Sat night, but no luck yet, up to $130. If booked through the hotel website it would cost $70 more per night.

I got the same hotel Sheraton Marina for Aug 27,28,29 for $65 a night. I have been trying to get a 4* in san diego for Sep 4, 5,6, and I am up to $80 so far and no deals yet. Been trying through your PRICELINE link. Are the hotel lists you post accurate as for star levels so I can not be so nervous when I check other areas besides downtown san diego to get free rebids?
