  1. Thanks AaronJB for your recommendations on the Argo Tea Stand and Eataly! We will definitely check both out! I'm glad to know that you prefer the Omni. I have never stayed there but have stayed at the Intercontinental several times. Looking forward to our trip in the next couple of weeks!
  2. Thanks for your input AaronJB! I decided to go back to PRICELINE.EXPRESS DEALS and put in for the 4.5* property that was originally listed for $165 when I first posted about it. The price had gone up $1, but the other available properties had also gone up, some by as much as $20, so figured I had better go ahead and do it. The Ivy does look like a nice property, but since we have friends staying at the Intercontinental were hoping for that. We got the Chicago Omni Hotel, which is just a couple of blocks from the Intercontinental, and still a good price for a 4.5* property.
  3. I am trying to figure out which hotel this is on HOT.WIRE for $221/N. Amenities shown are: free Internet Restaurant Pet friendly Smoke free Fitness center Business center Self Serve Laundry Trip Advisor rates a 4.5/5 and 95% of Hot.wire guests recommend. Also wondering about a 4.5* property listed on PRICELINE.EXPRESS DEALS. Property is listed as North Michigan Avenue River North at $165/N save 25% Rating 8.0 Guest Favorite Amenities: Indoor or Outdoor Pool Pets Allowed Fitness Center Restaurant Business Center Bed Choice Available Any help identifying is greatly appreciated!

  5. Just booked one of my favorite hotel properties for a good pricefor the 4th of July Holiday week! Amenities listed were: Fitness Center Restaurant(s) Business Center High-Speed Internet Access Accessible for the blind Accessible for the deaf Accessible path of travel In-room accessibility Accessible bathroom Subtotal: $644.00 Taxes: 65.64 Occupancy tax: 47.48 Fees: 27.80 Total trip price $784.92
  6. Well, when you snooze you lose!! Went back yesterday thru the HOTWIRE link provided here, to book the Midtown Central property that had gone up to $242, and it was gone! Found a Travelzoo promotion for the Warwick for $269 which is decent for my dates, (on other sites, is showing $440 for my dates), and I like the hotel, so booked that. My reservation can be cancelled 72 hours prior so if closer to my dates prices start dropping I may still see about saving some $ on either PRICELINE or HOTWIRE! Appreciate this board and the info provided!
  7. Thanks for the input! Still pondering what I am going to do, PRICELINE vs HOTWIRE, since now the Midtown Central property has gone up to $242/n. I have a backup reservation at the Park Central for $218/n that is cancelable, and I don't really want to stay there, but was kind of nervous about this busy time of year so grabbed it when I saw it several weeks ago. I will keep you posted as to what I do.
  8. Thank you Thereuare for the reply! I would prefer to stay nearer Times Square b/c we are visiting friends that live at 52nd btwn 8th and 9th. In looking further at the Midtown Central property when I click on details it does give me a bed choice of a king or 2 doubles. I'm wondering if this might be the Warwick then b/c I saw another post where that was mentioned? I usually prefer using PRICELINE just b/c I know I can get a better deal, but may go for this HOTWIRE property and take my chances, b/c I do like the Warwick. I'll use the links provided here and let you know the outcome when I do!
  9. What would be the best guess on the following 4* hotels? Midtown Central-$233/n Amenities: Fitness Center, Restaurant, Business Center, High Speed Internet Access Recommended: In 90% of Hotwire customer reviews. Times Square-Theatre District-$284/n Amenities: Fitness Center, Restaurant, Business Center, High Speed Internet Access Recommended: In 90% of Hotwire customer reviews. Thanks for the help!
  10. I ended up bidding through PRICELINE (with the link provided here). I bid on a 4* property for one night, pre-cruise, Sept. 11, 2010. I started at $50, increasing by $5 each time, winning the Hyatt Regency Miami for $65. Winning bid: $65.00 Taxes: $16.37 Total: $81.37 This is the 4th time I have stayed at this hotel, and each time has been a pleasant experience. Upon check-in, I was upgraded to a corner suite (without even asking for an upgrade), which was very large with a living room, and panoramic view! A very nice perk considering the price I had paid!!!
  11. Thanks so much yellowdog! I am still trying to decide whether to bid on PRICELINE, but either way, I will use the links provided here and will definitely follow up with what I decide.
  12. I am looking at two properties on HOTWIRE (Downtown Miami), that I don't see a match for on the hotel list. I am looking for 1 night Sept. 11, 2010. The amenities listed are as follows: 3.5* $63/n Fitness, Pool, Restaurant, Business Center, Internet, Tennis nearby. Recommended 95% of the time. Trip Advisor rating of 4/5 4* $96/n Fitness, Pool, Restaurant, Business Center, Internet, Golf, Tennis, Spa, Childrens Activities. Recommended 100% of the time. Trip Advisor Rating of 4/5. If anyone has any ideas as to which hotels these two might be, please advise. Thanks!
  13. Went through the HOTWIRE link here and just booked the Doubletree Guest Suites. I have been bidding on PRICELINE for this time period up to $200, for over a month with no success, and although it is down to the last minute for booking am pleased to get a 4* property for under $200. The lowest price I have seen this property on other sites is $269/n. Hotel rate per night:$186.00 Nights:4 Rooms:1 Subtotal:$744.00 Tax recovery charges and fees$157.07 Total price:$901.07 Amenities shown: Suite Fitness Restaurant Business Internet
  14. Went through the HOTWIRE link on this board and booked the hotel listed above. 3.5* Sheraton Albuquerque Uptown for 5/26-5/27 for the rate of $57/night. Amenities listed: Non-smoking Fitness Pool Restaurant Business Center Laundry Internet $57 nightly rate $13.72 tax Total Price: $70.72 Happy with my win. Thanks for the help!
  15. Trying to figure out if this property is the Sheraton Albuquerque Uptown. Amenities shown are: Non smoking Fitness Pool Restaurant Business Center Laundry Internet Recommended in 90% customer reviews 300+ total reviews 4 1/2 out of 5 Trip Advisor rating What has me thrown is the 300+ reviews, because the Sheraton Uptown shows 125 reviews. In fact I don't see any hotel in Albuquerque with 300+ reviews! Any ideas?
  16. Thank you thereuare for the info on the cross marketing approach that PRICELINE is now doing when bids are declined. Well, as you suggested, I went through the HOTWIRE link here, to go ahead with my booking, and willing to go ahead and cough up the $175/n, with the hopes of getting the Venetian or Palazzo. I guess today is my lucky day, because the same listing was down to $144/n this morning, so I went ahead and booked it and won the Venetian, which was the property I wanted. I am very pleased, because not only will my daughter get to celebrate her 22nd birthday at the hotel she wanted to, but I also get to stay within my original budget of $150/n. Considering that 2 weeks ago this same property was listed at $184/n for my dates on HOTWIRE, I did wonder if I waited a week if it my go cheaper. And there was a part of me that wondered if I waited to bid on PRICELINE tonight if I might get lucky cheaper! With it being my daughters birthday and a holiday weekend, didn't want to chance it though. So, I am very happy! :) Thank you again for such GREAT communication to help me save some dollars!! ps: I also posted my win on the HOTWIRE page.
  17. Very pleased to receive my property of choice for a great deal! The past two days this same listing has been at $175/n and after bidding up to $172 on PRICELINE the past 2 nights with no win, I was willing to bight the bullet and book at $175. What a welcome surprise to see it was down to $144! Savings of 44%! Cheapest rate on other sites is $259/night. Total savings of $377.53! Amenities listed: Resort Suite Casino Fitness Pool Restaurant Business Center High Speed Internet Gold Nearby Tennis Nearby Spa Recommended by guests 90% Overall Satisfaction of guests: 4.5/5 500 + Total reviews Trip Advisor rating: 4/5 3 Nights at $144/night 1 Room $432.00 $60.71 taxes and fees $492.71 TOTAL I did use the HOTWIRE link on this site for booking. :)
  18. You were right thereuare, I had not waited 24 hours from when I finished bidding. At any rate I bid again this afternoon going through the PRICELINE link provided here, with no luck. I started at $141, with LVS North, 5*, for the 27-30th. As had previously happened, my offer was declined, but I was offerred to increase my bid this time to $220, and win a hotel with out making any changes. I declined, continuing to bid, each time adding a re-bid zone until all 10 were used with a maximum bid of $172, with still no win. So, what do you suggest from here? Should I just give up on PRICELINE and take the HOTWIRE offer of $175 for the property that appears to be either the Venetian or the Palazzo, or should I hold out and keep trying PRICELINE? I do not want to go higher than $175. Also, I wonder if you can answer another question. I have been bidding through PRICELINE for a few years now always going through this site, but this time when I bid after the counter offer, that I refused, and I added another bid, upon getting the answer I was sent to a page telling me that my offer was not accepted but showing the hotels with prices that PRICELINE was offering. No where on the page could I find a way to get back to my bid page and add another zone, etc. So, each time when this happened I would close out and reopen through the link provided here. Is this something new that is now occurring or is there something else I can do to stay with my bidding? As it turned out that meant I was closing out the browser with every other bid, opening the new page and continuing where I left off, and each time I opened the new page, I was given the $220 offer to accept an immediate win. This is the exact scenario that played out when I made my original bids 2 nights ago. Any thoughts on this?
  19. Well...don't know what I'm doing wrong or what is going on with PRICELINE tonight. I started my bidding again, 30 minutes after I had started 24 hours ago, going through the links provided on this site. I started with LVS-North, 5*, bidding $145, and was told that I had made a duplicate offer and that Iwould need to either add more zones, change star levels, or dates, and if I didn't change any of those then I would have to wait for 24 hours from my original bid. So, I added 2 re-bid zones and upped the bid to $146, and got the same "duplicate" response again. Added another re-bid zone upped my bid to $152, and same thing again. So what's up?? I know it has been over 24 hours because I even went back to my emails that PRICELINE sent when my original bids last night were not accepted, to verify the time. Has this happened before and does this mean that I have to wait another 24 hours to re-bid?
  20. Very valid point thereuare! I will take your advice and let you know the outcome!
  21. No, I do not want to change hotels. That is why I thought if I just bid for the 28th and 29th, since those two nights are the ones that get pretty pricey, once I knew what hotel I had won, I would just go either directly to that hotels sight to book Thursday, the 27th, or another sight, and probably save more money booking just the one night, (thus not bidding on PRICELINE for the 27th.) Out of the hotels I am looking at in the LVS North zone, none are over $159/n for the 27th, yet I have seen the 29th as high as $399.
  22. I was just giving the reference that I had seen the $175 HOTWIRE offer, which takes some of the guess work out, since it looks like from amenties listed that it is the Venetian or Palazzo. I would prefer not to go up to $175 bidding on PRICELINE if at all possible, and maybe I was close to winning one of those properties since usually I have found that you can get a lower price by bidding vs a HOTWIRE price. In your opinion, how high do you think I will have to bid thereuare? I'm wondering if I should just bid tonight for the 28th and 29th, see what I win and then go back and book the 27th since it shows considerably cheaper even directly with the hotels. Your thoughts on the best strategy? In answer to your question, my maximum bid would be $165.
  23. If I am correct Trump is in the LVS-Vicinity North, which I do not plan to add while bidding, hopefully keeping me from getting this properrty, and Mandalay Bay is in the LVS-Vicinity South, which I also do not plan to add. Considering HOTWIRE is showing a property for my dates for $139/n, which appears to be Trump, if Trump was in LVS North, by bidding up to $156, I would have already won that property. I was only bidding on LVS North, because all other zones I added were re-bid zones that did not have 5* properties.
