  1. Okay. Trip went about as great as anyone could hope for. I would stay at this hotel again. Check-in at the Capitol Hill Hotel went smooth as silk. Hotel has recently been renovated, heavy emphasis on design. No hotel bar or restaurant, but in this neighborhood, who needs one? Continental Breakfast would not be out of place on the Continent, right down to hard-boiled eggs, breakfast meat, and cheese. I will report further after I verify the location refunded a $30 deposit.
  2. Amenities: Free breakfast, Free Internet, Pet friendly, Suite, Fitness center, Business center, Self-service laundry, Internet access, Accessible for visually impaired, Accessible for hearing impaired, Accessible path of travel, In-room accessibility, Accessible bathroom, Roll-in shower. (also, please remove my dupe post. thanks.)
  3. Needed a last minute room in Washington DC, so simply went through the Bidding.Helper. This is what I got from Hotwire. I will return after my trip to let the board know of quality, room, etc.
  4. Just wanted to close this thread out -- I looked at my budget & concluded I need to save a bit more before heading to NYC. Thanks for your help, and I'll keep you folks in mind when I head out on trips.
  5. Thanks for getting back to me on this. What I'm looking for, as you noted, was the best bang for the buck. I've got to crunch some numbers, as I'd rather come into NYC via Penn Station if I can help it. I'll be back in a day or two.
  6. Just used the PRICELINE link to get a ballpark idea of what's available for how much. Also used the HOTWIRE link to put me on the cluetrain. Looks like the $100 hotel of my youth has now turned into the $150-$200/per night hotel of today. Thinking now of staying in Rockville Centre area or possibly Queens now, as I had been thinking in the $100 range, but may have to go higher, based on reality, haha.
  7. Not quite sure which part of NYC to bid on. Is it better to stay outside the city and take my chances with either NJT or Metro-North? I'm open to the board for suggestions & bid strategies. Thanks.
  8. Didn't find this site until after I booked; made sure to register and bookmark for future trips. Anyway, I needed a room in the Baltimore area on a kinda last-minute midweek trip. Since I'm travelling by Amtrak on this trip, I decided to start on Priceline looking for something around BWI at $65. No go. Expanded the search again to include Baltimore proper. I ended up with a win for the Sheraton Baltimore City Center Hotel on 5/2 at $70. Apparently, this hotel is undergoing some renovations. Based on other things I've seen posted, I'm probably going to sign up for the Sherwood affinity program before I go. It may obtain me a nicer room. We'll see.
