Trekkin--no, it was definitely a 3*. Most likely, there is just not any 3* availability for your particular dates.

As stated in the title and body of the post, I received the Hilton El Conquistador (North zone, then). Not a clue how to edit the title of the post, but that's the hotel I got :)

We "won" the Hilton El Conquistador for an $80 bid for the night of March 5th. We had bid on a 3* (the highest shown as being available), but were upgraded upon bid acceptance to this hotel (listed on betterbidding as being in the resort category). There was an offer to extend our stay, but our travel plans only allow us to stay for that one night, unfortunately. Hope this info helps someone else!
