  1. 3.5* Savannah Historic District Please help ID this hotel! Dates: 08/21/11- 08/23/11 $79.00/night Boutique hotel Smoke Free Complimentary Breakfast Restaurant Business Centre High Speed Internet Access Golf nearby It thought it matched up with the Avia that was previously posted but maybe it's something else because this came up as a 3.5 star and the Avia was previously purchased as a 4* hotel. Any ideas?
  2. Sorry folks, I think I screwed up my earlier post somehow and don't know how to delete it! Let's see if this will work as a "new topic". 3. 4* Savannah Historic District 08/21/11-08/23/11 $81/night Amenities include: Fitness centre Pool Restaurant Business Centre High Speed Internet Access I posted a separate query for a 3.5* as well --it's only a 2 dollar difference.
  4. Ideas on which hotel this might be? I am looking for a hotel in the Savannah Hotel District for 2 nights.Would like a 3.5-4 star with location being a key factor. Can anyone ID this description? 3.5* Savannah Historic District 08/21/11-08/23/11, Please help ID this hotel! 08/21/11- 08/23/11 $79.00/night Boutique hotel Smoke Free Complimentary Breakfast Restaurant Business Centre High Speed Internet Access Golf nearby Thanks!
  5. Hi, I'd appreciate any assistance this forum has to offer in helping me choose a hotel to bid on in Charleston SC for 08/23/11 - 08/25/11. My IDEAL wish list would include: - free parking - safe area for walking - in downtown or is a short drive to downtown - air conditioned of course! - good value for the money. I'm ok with 2.5-3 star
  6. We had an amazing stay at The Edgewater! Here's a summary: We took the Amtrak from Vancouver, BC - Seattle and grabbed a cab to the hotel We arrived at 10:30 pm on April 9th and were greeted warmly at the door. The check-in process was very efficient and we were given a room with no mention about being Priceline customers. We were not offered any upgrades. I was pleasantly surprised to discover that we had a lovely room on the 1st floor with a spectacular waterfront view! I was totally expecting to get a noisier city view room after some of the reviews that I read. I had called about 3 days before to confirm the reservation and to give advance warning of our late check-in time. I was told over the phone that my reservations were good for their standard Priceline city view room. I am wondering if we lucked out with a water view because we checked in at a later time (perhaps the city view room was offered to another Priceline customer that arrived earlier in the afternoon?) I appreciated the cute little touches in the room--the furry bear footstool by the fireplace, the basket of treats, an impressive liquor selection, signature Edgewater bear and bathrobes. The closet was spacious and I like that a light goes on automatically when you open the closet door. My 3 favorites of the room: 1) view and smell of being by the water 2) stunning bathroom (decked out with an amazing rock wall shower, spa-like showerhead, bowl basin, tilt mirror, magnifying and light up makeup mirror, dimmable lights 3) huge King bed super comfortable We were scheduled for an early departure next day so we decided to have a quick breakfast in the beautiful hotel restaurant "Six Seven". He ordered the marion berry pancakes and I had a continental breakfast (3 pastries and a very lovely fruit platter - honeydew, pineapple, strawberries, blueberries, blackberries. Coffee/juice. I asked the front door man (Jason) to arrange for a taxi to take us back to the train station at 8 am and he offered to take us there himself in the hotel van for free! I thought that was a nice gesture given that the train station is on the outskirts of downtown area and there was one other girl who had requested the shuttle into downtown. Thanks Jason! I was really sad our stay at the Edgewater was so short. I felt the experience was quite luxurious, romantic and a perfect start to our Easter weekend. The hotel location is not in the heart of downtown, but I rather preferred it that way! Highly recommend this hotel.
  7. Originally I started bidding on a 3* in the same Downtown- Pike place zone. Bids were rejected at $55 and $60. I was thinking that if I bid much higher, I might as well try for a 4* in the same zone as previous postings showed successful bids in the mid-70's. At the 4* level, I bid at $68 and then rebid at $70 which was finally accepted for the Edgewater Hotel. I am mixed about the reviews of this hotel but I received some helpful feedback from this forum. We are arriving into Seattle late at night and leaving for Portland early the next morning so getting a great deal on a comfortable place to sleep was more important than a room with a view. I'll let you know how things go. Room Cost (avg. per room, per night):$70.00 (USD) Number of Rooms:1 Number of Nights:1 Room Subtotal:$70.00 (USD) Taxes and Fees:$17.85 (USD) Total Room Cost:$87.85 (USD)
  8. Followed your re-bidding tips / PRICELINE links and watched other winning bids for a few days before being brave enough to make my first bid offer. Started with $40 bid for 4* in Downtown Portland - declined rebid $48 adding Lake Oswego - declined rebid $53 adding Beaverton - accepted! 3 nights (Apr. 10-13/09) @ $53/night Subtotal: $159.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $29.55 Total Charges: $188.55 I've read mixed reviews out there about the hotel but am pleased about the price and location. Thanks BB! Now, I just need to figure out what to do, where to eat while I'm there! :)
  9. Thanks for the reply YellowDog. NYairport thread updated! I am open to accept any downtown Portland hotel in the 4* or better rating. Budget max is $80 for 4*. I will continue to do a bit more research and monitor the recent bids. Your suggestions are appreciated.
  10. Thanks for all the suggestions. I ended up NOT booking accommodations through either Hotwire or Priceline. Stayed with friends in the Upper West side instead yay! My stay in NY was wonderful. I flew Vancouver - Montreal - Newark. Took your suggestion to take the Airtrain - NJ transit - Penn Station and subways 1,2,3 all led up to the apartment. I arrived around 8 pm on a Tuesday night and found that the airtrain/NJ transit and subway were very efficient. The return trip to Newark, I decided to call for a shared shuttle van (Airlink?) because my luggage was quite heavy and I had several other bags to carry. The cost was $20. They arrived to my doorstep on time and because I was the last on the stop (there were two other couples in the van) the trip back to Newark only took 30-40 min. Would highly recommend this as an alternative if you have more than 1 luggage.
  11. I'm looking for advice on how I should set up my first bid and subsequent bids. I read somewhere that it wasn't necessarily good to win on the first bid?!? (what zones should I select and does it matter what order i look in?) I am looking for a 4* or higher hotel in downtown Portland from April 10-13, 2009 (for 2 adults) concern. I would give more preference to hotels near Amtrak station. Budget is around $80/night. Thanks for your time.
  12. I'm just looking for a place near the Newark airport to rest my head for the night and then take a bus or shuttle into Midtown. I am arriving in late to Newark on March 13th. One night only and I am not particular on star rating for the purposes of this stay, I would start at 2.5-3 star ratings. Thanks for your help!
  13. How do you think my chances will be for bidding and winning a Newark airport hotel between $50-60? =)
  14. I've researched flying into all three NY airports. Newark ended up being about $60 cheaper. I would be arriving very late into any of the 3 airports I choose and am reluctant to pay the high price of staying in Manhatten an extra night just to sleep for a few hours. I was thinking of booking a budget hotel near the airport and then looking at my options for cheap transport into the Midtown. I would like to hear your suggestions on whether I should save money on the flight, stay in a cheap hotel in Newark and possibly end up spending a bit more commuting to Midtown. or.... should I spend a little more on airfare, fly into Laguardia or JFK and stay in a cheap airport hotel and commute to Midtown the next morning? It would be one night stay in an airport hotel (Friday, March 13/09), commuting to Midtown the next morning. I will be travelling alone. Any thoughts?
  15. Starting bid was $95 My final bid was accepted at $110 and I'm thrilled! The total after tax is $134.25 USD Check-In Date: Sat, Feb 3, 2007 Check-In Time: After 03:00 PM Check-Out Date: Sun, Feb 4, 2007 Check-Out Time: 12:00 PM We are heading down from Vancouver, BC to Seattle to see David Sanborn play @ the Jazz Alley Club. The Westin seemed like the perfect locale to get to all the sights. Thanks to this Board for all the helpful tips!
