  1. Free Internet Pet Friendly Boutique Hotel Smoke-Free Rooms Restaurant(s) Business Center Internet Access Accessible for hearing impaired and path of travel This hotel offers twin beds. That was my tip-off that it was the Z. We got a queen though. Maybe I can talk our way into a king later. Should be a good room where it happens in the greatest city in the world. Convenient to subway to Broadway and to LGA. Plus it's way more cost efficient than staying in Manhattan. How lucky we are to be alive right now.
  2. Started w 4* San Jose only at $75. Came back with buy right now offer for $91. Added 3.5* then areas one at a time (Cupertino, W San Jose, Santa Clara, Sunnyvale) bumping offer up a buck as I added areas. So looks like the $s and the *s were deciding factor.
  3. plus 18.00 daily resort fee. 70% or more off. Never stayed there--read mixed reviews. But we can walk to the CC.
  4. It's at the Washington Plaza and I sincerely don't think it's big enough to influence rates. We haven't paid the rate yet ($149)--we were looking for a better deal before decide. And I will investigate if it is refundable. Good tip.
  5. Based on my research here, I just bid $75 for a 3* in White House/Downtown but got rejected. To further check out the terrain, I went to Hotwire and they have only 3 properties listed in this region--all for over $200. Am I dreaming to get anything for a bid under $150? We're confined to that area because of our convention location and our transportation (the Metro and our feet). Our convention hotel has a special rate but it's still borderline-too-high for us. Input welcome! I'm willing to be patient!
  6. Well crud! I'm looking for at least a 3* in the same area for 10/31-11/8/11 and am only coming up w 200 bucks and above on Hotwire. I'm jealous! :)
  7. Bid $70 for 3.5*. Rejected. Tried again immediately...went up 5 bucks and lowered to 3*. Accepted. And of course I went through the Better Bidding PRICELINE link! :)
  8. November 12-19, 2007. It's for the LDI convention. And no, I didn't use the link on the support page to make the ESA reservation. I'm still getting to know the site. I'll look into this in the future. I am also interested in Hilton Garden Inns, and also may try bidding in hopes of getting the Peabody. Who knows?
  9. Looking for an extended-stay type place with a kitchen (or least a fridge and microwave) near the convention center. I'd like a Candlewood or Homewood but these do't seem to be available for Priceline bid (at least, I'm not seeing any winning bids for these). We do have a reservation at the Extended Stay Convention Center for $70 a night but I was hoping to beat this. Looking at November 07. Any advice?
  10. Good points. Looks like there is a chance of not getting a direct MCO/IAD flight, but not a huge risk. There seem to be many direct flights available. but you never know in this biz... I'm not married to the Candlewood, although my experience with the chain is good, the online reviews are positive and the location is perfect. Still, the 2* options in Sterling all look fine and dandy. I would not have thought that getting a $189 hotel for a 40 buck bid was very likely. I usually don't have success unless I bid at least 50% of the non-opaque Priceline rate. So I learned something very useful today. Thanks for your comments!
  11. Method to my madness...Priceline is offering a flight/hotel package (MCO to IAD round-trip which is normally $178 a person and 9 nights at a hotel that's priced $119 a night on the chain website and $189 on Priceline) for a total of $700 for two of us. Seems a very good deal. Then I'll book the LAX/MCO flight, hotel and car separately.
  12. Wow, my first post and I already made trouble...sorry! The trip within a trip would be a roundtrip from MCO to IAD. We'd fly to MCO, then fly up to IAD the next day (for Civil War trekking mostly, so we do need a car), return to MCO for the convention and then fly home to LAX.
  13. Uh, FLIGHT not fight. My fella and I get along great and love traveling together. :)
  14. Hello friends-- We're trying to get the best price for a November 07 itin of LAX to Dulles to Orlando and back to LAX plus hotel in both Washington DC/Dulles area for 9 or 10 days and then Orlando Convention Center area for 7 days plus a car in both places. I e-mailed Priceline and they said no, can't be done except in pieces. Seems to me they could extend their discounts to such a big package. But maybe it would make their software too complicated or, more probably, it isn't profitable. The best bet I can see so far is bid on LAX/Orlando airfare, Orlando hotel and Orlando car separately and then do an airfare/hotel package for MCO/IAD. A trip within a trip, as it were. Also, when is the best time to start bidding for November? I'm also posting this in the Orlando, FL section. I welcome your comments!
