  1. Started my bidding at $75 looking for a four-star room for one night in either the Embarcadero or Union Square areas. Re-bid in $5 increments using free re-bid zones until my $90 bid was accepted at Le Meridien. Used the PRICELINE link on this site before starting my bidding.
  2. Using the PRICELINE link on this site, with the goal of getting a property near Fisherman's Wharf, I started with a $68 bid for a 3 1/2* property in that zone, then increased my bid by $2 increments until I had reached $80 and had all seven downtown SF zones selected. I then started over at $68 for a 3* property using the same strategy, and eventually ended up with the Holiday Inn Golden Gateway on Van Ness for $74. I've never stayed in this part of the city, so it will be an interesting change.
  3. Started the bidding process yesterday at $28, and increased my bid in increments of $2 using the free re-bid zones until my bid of $36 was accepted. At $34, I was offered an instant re-bid for $44, but declined. Honestly I was hoping to get the Doubletree if only for the free chocolate chip cookie, but I can't complain about getting a three-star property at this price.
  4. Used the PRICELINE link on this website to begin my bidding. I was aiming for the Comfort Inn & Suites in the airport zone, but am still happy with getting the Holiday Inn. The reservation is for 7 rooms total. First bid: Rejected $30 for 2.5* in PDX Airport zone, offered to try bid again immediately by adding $10 Second bid: Rejected $33 for 2.5* in PDX Airport and Tigard zones, offered to try bid again immediately by adding $10 Third bid: Accepted $35 for 2.5* in PDX Airport, Tigard, and Convention Center zones, automatically upgraded to 3* property
  5. I used the $10/night PRICELINE coupon in the Entertainment Coupon book, which is good for up to $100 off your stay of a 2* or better hotel. With seven rooms and three nights, this meant my coupon was worth $4.76 per night, and increased my $56/night bid up to $60.76/night. My bid of a 3* in the downtown Edmonton bid zone was accepted on the first attempt.
  6. Using the PRICELINE link to start my bid, my first bid of $33 was accepted for a 3-star hotel with the Durham, Chapel Hill, and RDU Airport zones selected. My bid was upgraded to 3 1/2 stars and I received the Millenium Hotel in Durham. The total cost for one night including taxes and fees was $44.82. Very happy with the outcome as I have business to attend to at Duke in the morning, which is right down the street.
  7. Once again using the PRICELINE link on this site, started out looking for a 3-star in Ocala with a $32 bid, then used multiple free re-bids in $5 big increments until I got the Courtyard by Marriott at $47 for one night. Total including taxes and fees was $58.60.
  8. Began the bidding process by clicking the PRICELINE link on this site. Selected three zones (Peachtree Corners/Norcross, Perimiter, and Galleria) and my first bid of $28 was accepted for the Marriott Atlanta Norcross Peachtree Corners hotel. Taxes and fees were $11.10, making the total cost for one night $39.10.
  9. Got the Mariott at SFO Airport in Burlingame for $60 for one night this weekend (came to $76.23 with fees). Second bid was accepted after I tried $60 for a 4* in the same zone on my first attempt.
  10. My first time using Hotwire got me the MGM Grand at $130 per night for a Friday and Saturday night stay. I'm not sure how great a deal this is, but I avoided using Priceline since I was afraid of getting stuck with the Westin Casuarina. All in all, I am pleased as I haven't stayed here before and specifically wanted something in the south end of the strip. Amenities were: Casino Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center High-Speed Internet Access Golf Nearby Tennis nearby Spa Services
  11. Just booked the 5-star Trump Hotel for $65 per night for two nights. Tried a $62 bid but was rejected and offered the opportunity to raise my bid by $17 and try again. Instead I added a zone and upped my bid $3 and was accepted. It is also offering to allow me to extend my stay at the same rate, which I am considering since I'll be there through the weekend.
  12. Bid of $45 for 4 rooms was successful on my second bid. First bid was $45 for a 4* in downtown and National City zones, then expanded second bid for a $45 3* hotel in downtown, National City, and Mission Valley zones. I'm not sure if bidding on 4 rooms made a difference as opposed to only bidding on 1.
