  1. Not sure if I'm reporting this win correctly (total price won or with taxes & fees?) Here is the breakdown: Room subtotal:$75.00 Taxes & fees:$16.11 Total charged today:$91.11 Hotel fee:$33.60 Total cost:$124.71
  2. Last minute bidding (same day check in eek!) Super happy I got the Aria - I was down to my last bid! The Priceline summary says I saved 34%. It seems priceline assumes a $35/night resort fee. Viva Las Vegas! :D
  3. Just scored this last minute room. Perfect for Boston Calling this weekend as it may rain so we can duck under for a time and then head back. The amenities listed were: Pet friendly, Smoke Free Rooms, Fitness Center, Restaurant(s), Business Center, Internet access, Tennis Nearby After booking, total amentites are: Pet friendly, Smoke Free Rooms, Fitness Center, Restaurant(s), Business Center, Internet access, Tennis Nearby, Accessible for the blind, Accessible for the deaf, Accessible path of travel, In-room accessibility, Wheelchair accessible, Accessible bathroom, Handicapped parking, Roll-in shower I checked again and now the price for the same 'clues' is $224/nt so may have been one room left at that rate? Either way just glad my friend and I are not staying at the airport. Thanks Better Bidding! (I hope I used the HOTWIRE link correctly!!) -jwabbit
  4. Since I had a $25 hotel credit, I thought I would check prices for now to see what I could get. I selected the Strip North, 5*, for 2 rooms. First bid was $73 ($69 plus ~$4 credit) and it was rejected BUT I got an offer for $149/night. I suspect this could be for Trump? Anyway, I did not purchase bc it is out of my budget but wanted to report this price in case anyone can use this information.
  5. Downtown Toronto, 4*, $65 - Rejected +Downtown East (no 4* hotels), $70 - ACCEPTED This is for 2 rooms. Called and they said it was for King rooms but we've had good luck with requesting a double during check in - we'll see.
  6. Apologies - the original post was not clear, i thought $75 for a 4* in USE was accepted but there was a 'glitch' and I did not win the hotel. That was when I rebid lower to see if I could get lower than $75, but I was unsuccessful. I have been bidding the last few days and won this today: May 26 - May 28 4*, USE, $75 = Rejected, Counter offer to add $22 to bid but I knew I had 3 more areas w/o 4* to rebid; +Civic Center, $80 = Rejected +Cathedral Hill, $85 = Accepted: Hyatt Regency San Francisco I called Hyatt CS to check on bed type - 2 Double (we needed one bed, but we'll survive). I also asked if they will meet Priceline's rate for an additional room for just one night (May 26-27) and after checking around, the CSR said they do not meet Priceline's rate (they offered $169). Tried PL for one night and won the same rate/same hotel. That bidding was 4*, USE, $85 and was accepted. Confirmed as same hotel. thereuare - maybe you can edit this thread to include the confirmed winning bid (s)? I wasn't sure I should start a new thread. Please advise.
  7. First bid (USE, 4*, $75) was accepted so I thought, maybe I overbid (i know, 75/night for holiday wkend is great!). USE, 4*, $55 = Rejected +Cathedral Hill, $60 = Rejected +Civic Center, $65 = Rejected +South SF, $70 = Rejected +Boutique, $75 = Rejected So what happened to my previously accepted 4* at $75/night? Did I get too greedy? Does this show that $75 was the best it could have been so try the first bid again? Also, we need a 2nd room for only one night (Sat). I was thinking to call the accepted hotel for that same rate for one night. Worse case is to bid for one night and get a different hotel from our friends. =( Any thoughts?
  8. I first bid for for Milwaukee (Downtown), 3* at $30 to test my luck. It was not accepted but I did not want to change my criteria. Tried again at $35. PL countered to add $9 so I changed my bid to $44 and it was accepted. One thing I noticed is that Hotwire had a 3.5* for $53 and historically, that was the Hyatt Regency. I think in the past, 3* on PL has been Hilton City Center, but we're fine with either one. Subtotal: $44.00 Taxes & Service fees: $13.69 Total: $57.69 Used savingsbarn.com for PL.
  9. I actually bid several times, first 'low-balling', then realizing I had to follow the most recent bid win. It went like this: Old Madrid-Bourbon Madrid, 5*, $70 +Around Castellena, $75 +4*, $80 +East, $85 Ran out of bids bc i did not want lower than 4* and the only other area was the airport. Bid again - this time after seeing that someone in another site got a 4* for $93 around the same date. I checked out the hotel and liked the area, so was hoping to get the same hotel. Old Madrid-Bourbon Madrid, 5*, $90 +East, $95 +4*, $95 - accepted. It was in fact, the same hotel as I saw. We're happy with the rate since the hotel's rate is 99 Euros/night.
  10. This hotel is in the "Old Madrid - Bourbon Madrid" area (meant to put that in the topic title instead of "Spain"). There aren't too many areas for Madrid for free re-bidding, but "East" only has up to 3* so used that for a rebid. This hotel has good reviews on Trip Advisor and hopefully, I can add to that (and the reviews here). The hotel's rack rate was 99Euros/night. I'm a newb to bidding, but I'm pretty sure I used the SB link. Apologies if it did not go through! Thanks, all.
