  1. I have seen that The Empire has been coming up pretty often on Hotwire. I have stayed at that property in the past and enjoyed it. I know that they have many rooms with just a queen size bed.....does anyone know if the rooms that are being won on hotwire are rooms with a queen bed or a king bed? I am tempted to try and get it for next weekend, but hubby doesn't want to get stuck with a queen bed. Thanks!!
  2. We just stayed at the Barclay and had a great experience. We requested a low floor, king bed and were granted this request even though the hotel was booked. Our room was beautiful with a wonderful bed and quality linens!! Have a cosmo at the bar...they make great drinks! Enjoy!!
  3. Bid $120.00 midtowm east got rejected. Added midtown south...rejected. Increased price to $135.00 , accepted...Intercontinental Barclay! 2 nights May 26-28. Thanks! Robin
  4. Wow...that is a great price! What areas did you bid for? I am trying to get a 4* for 3 nights, December 12-14, have been bidding mid-town east and have gone up to $200.00.....no luck yet. Robin
  5. Going to be in the city 12/14-12/17. I have booked the Dumont at a rate of $400.00 per night but would like to find something a little less expensive.Hotwire has a 3* midtown central....fitness center, highspeed internet, restaurants listed as amenities, and a 3.5 tripadvisor rating. Any idea what hotel this is?? Thanks, Robin
  6. Thanks...but luckily it was my Dad who had the stones....I was just taking care of him!!!
  7. Hi! I go to New York quite a bit, here are my thoughts. I don't think there are any comparisons between the" Mandarin" and the" W Time Square"...I think the Mandarin is a much nicer property. The Mandarin is a more traditional hotel and is located in the new "Time Warner" building so therre is plenty of shopping,restaurants.....Centarl Park is also right there. The W hotels are very nice, but very trendy and from my experiences the rooms are a little small. The "70 Park Ave "is a beautiful small hotel , a Kimpton Hotel ,in Murray Hill. It is a quiet, more residential neighborhood. It is also a very trendy hotel, small lobby and small rooms, but very nice. There is nothing more romantic than having a drink in the lobby bar of the Mandarin...it is beautiful with a great view!! A great web site to get all the info you need on hotels is www.tripadvisor.com. Also www.nymag.com is great web site for what is "happening " in New York. And lastly.......Jersey Boys is a great, very fun show!! Have fun!! Robin
  8. First bid 4* in Dupont Circle for $80.00, did not get anything. Then bid $90.00 adding Capitol Hill, and I got the Grand Hyatt Washington. Unfortunately I did not get to use it....ended up in the ER with my Dad..kidney stones! Oh well ,maybe next time!!!
