  1. Uh...didn't I just do that? I was out there Dec 4-6 and bid $43 on a 2* thinking that it would give me Quality Inn (Hermosa) where I've stayed before (it costs about $100/night through normal booking) and instead I got "upgraded" to the Best Western Sunrise (Redondo). Oh - and you quoted it so you clearly saw it.... Thanks for wasting my time.
  2. I lived in Hermosa Beach this past summer and it drives me crazy that they lump all three of these together (Redondo, Hermosa, Manhattan). They are very different and I'd rather stay in a 1 star in Hermosa or Manhattan than a 4 star in Redondo (not as nice, no bars, nothing in walking distance). Anyway, I was out there Dec 4-6 and bid $43 on a 2* thinking that it would give me Quality Inn (Hermosa) where I've stayed before (it costs about $100/night through normal booking) and instead I got "upgraded" to the Best Western Sunrise (Redondo). In retrospect, it could have been worse and they could have put me in Hawthorne (ghetto) or El Segundo which is near the airport (why they are grouped in here, I don't know). I'm going back out there and could be out there for as long as 2 weeks (2/19-3/6) and am wondering if there are any strategies to increase the chances of getting the hotel I want - Quality Inn & Suites - the only 2* - and not get "upgraded". Would bidding lower help? Another thought I had was formally complaining about my stay at the Best Western and saying I would like them to be excluded from future searches (not sure if they would do that and if they did, would I end up getting stucking in Hawthorne).
  3. Does anyone know what hotels they use for the Brentwood-Westwood area? I tried $100 for the 3* which I'm guessing is the Hotel Angeleno. I'm getting in after midnight and leaving by noon so I don't need the place to be great and don't really want to spend more than that because with taxes and parking thats going to end up over $140 but am a little nervous about what the 2* would be. Also any thoughts about how to get a second bid in before 24 hours? Every zone has a 3* and I don't think there are any zones that it would be safe to assume would reject the bid.
  4. I'm actually looking to do the same - I want to stay in the Hyatt West Hollywood but have little interest in staying in the other two 3* West Hollywood hotels that show up in the list as ones that Priceline uses. Any way of improving my chances of getting that specific hotel or anyone know what the odds are of getting it at random? "Help" like that provided by 'thenewbie' is not necessary - but if anyone has any useful information - I'd be glad to hear it. Thanks!
