  1. I used bonus money ( $90 +$6.00=$96/DAY) This was just after getting a counter-offer at bidding $85 for a 3-star I am now scared to re-bid for a 3-star in Toronto-Downtown-North,as the Bond Place Hotel is billed as 3-star,and hardly resembles a 2-star. The hotel rooms look like a college dorm, twin beds are uncomfortable, and rooms are basic, and carpetless. No free-wifi,pool, and horrible elevators. Only positive thing is good location.
  2. I statrted at $65 using $20 bonus money ( additional $6.67 per night for 3 nights ) I added dummy zones and at $69 + $6.67 I got a counter offer to up the bid by $20. I upped the bid by only $2 for $71+ $6.67 and won the Delta Chelsea. This is the most I ve ever spent for a win on this hotel, but I am still satisfied
  3. I tried for a 4-star-up to $75- no luck. I tried for a 3 1/2 -srar-up to $75-no luck I then tried 3-star at $70-accepted right away I used the PRICELINE link Joe
  4. You don t have to wait 24 hours to rebid. You could use the re-bid zone strategy,by adding zones that have only inferior ratings, as dummy zones. The moderator will lead you to the link explaoning it clearly.
  5. Hi: I have a weeding here in July-11 and had $50 Priceline bonus money that would have expired. - started with *3 1/2 at $60(+ 10 bonus cash) ..up to $80.. all rejected -did *3 at $75 (+ 10 bonus cash) and was accepted at Courtyard. - rack rate for dates were $149..so I got it at half price -great reviews and perfect location for the wedding.
  6. When lowering the quality level of the hotel ,I would not have raised my bid. At most,I would have kept it at the same rate.
  7. Used PRICELINE link- started at $65 for Downtown Ottawa and got $15 counteroffer . - refused counteroffer, added Goucester as rebid zone and raised bid to $73- accepted I saw the same hotel on HOTWIRE for $79 for the same date. Also ,I hear the rooms are tiny, but I hope for one person, bearable.
  8. Colfax-Yes I am . My 2 female friends were so jealous of my win, that they decided to hop on the bandwagon. Not only did they buy a plane ticket, but they put the onus on me to find them an equally -good -value hotel on PRICELINE. What is more intriguing is that they have become avid followers of BETTERBIDDING.COM, like me.
  9. Tracee- Good luck. I am also pursuing a win in the same area.I originally tried 3* in both USE/USW but bidding up to $80 got me nowhere for sept 24th-27th. I will now do like you and try over $80 for 4*. As far as posting in this forum is concerned( and all other forums) there will always be people who will post gratuitous remarks, and then they will use the excuse they do not like doing other people s homework. Well if they don t like doing other people s homework,no one is forcing them to do it. No need to intimidate other well-intentioned,if less experienced people.
  10. I don t want to sound insolent, but I find the above answer rather unhelpful, if not other things. It appears that the o.p. already has a basic knowledge of PRICELINE , and what to do.Do we need proof that the FAQ s were already read? My humble answer to Tracee is YES..you are on he right track.
  11. Hi- I used the PRICELINE.COM link and I used the bonus money found on the forum. I started at $55 plus $10 bonus money for USW - added Marina/Lombard as dummy zone - started again with USE- rejected again -added Marins/Lombard as dummy zone- still rejected -Then did USE + USW at $67 + $10 bonus money- accepted (Good - because my max was at $70 + $10 bonus) -Got the Warwick at $67 + $10 bonus = $77- normally $200 per night rack rate for 9/24-9/27 I am thrilled!!! Thanx guys for this site and thanx for the tip on bonus money
  12. I just took advantage and got the $50 bonus money. Thanks to the participant who suggested it. However I would like to know if bonus money as such would only drive up the wiining bid price? What is the experience of other users? Thanks
  13. I started with a bid of $45 with Downtown North plusDowntown South...then with of addition of dummy zones went up in different increments to $54 where the bid was accepted I used your PRICELINE link
  14. Thanks..Sorry to bother you again but if I decide for a higher caibre( I see that the Marriot is won at $75-$80), should I try $70 to begin and hope for a counteroffer?? Even if another hotel is won for that range in price it's o.k.
  15. Hi- I would gladly use your help. I cannot find any dummy zones to use for iSydney ,Australia( city center). I will be there betw. September 15th an September 20th( possibly a bit longer) I will take 3 star and up and would go from $ 55 to $80. Can you suggest a strategy that can still be used on Pricelinem please? Thanks Joe
  16. With limited time available ( need a hotel in Sydney for the 2nd week of September) can you give me a bidding strategy for 3-star and up ($55-$80) please. I do not see any possible dummy zones in order to have > one bid per day. Your help is greatly appreciated. Thanks Joe (Montreal)
  17. Hi- I helped my friend bid on PRICELINE, since he is francophone from Quebec. This was his first time on PRICELINE. He is taking his 2 boys to Boston in March for a sports event. We used the Betterbidding PRICELINE connection and started at $50. After 3 rebids we reached $59 , and my friend alerted me to a couteroffer of $17 whch we summarily refused. We upped it from $59 to $65 and won. Thanx to your site and kind supporters. (Rack rate for those days were $209. $189, $189) Joe
