  1. Bid $35 for 2.5 stars only - rejected Bid $40 for 2.0 stars + 2.5 stars - accepted 1 night at $40 + 10.86 taxes and fees = $50.86. PRICELINE quoted $89 + taxes/fees on the regular priceline website for this hotel, for perspective. There was no search history for Port Huron so hopefully this helps the forum out.
  2. Booked and stayed same day (Jan 31st, 2011). Used the BetterBidding PRICELINE link to book it. Have to support this invaluable resource! I offered $53, and the bid was accepted. Another $10 or so in taxes added on. Hotel was rock solid. Staff was super friendly, place was very clean, free breakfast was a nice touch and the room was beautiful. It was a suite really, with a full kitchen and granite countertops. I was impressed.
  3. Booked and stayed same day (Jan 29). Used the BetterBidding PRICELINE link to book it. Have to support this invaluable resource! I offered $43,, but was rejected. Priceline offered the room for $57. I declined. added the re-bid zone (has no 3* hotels) I offered $47 and bid was accepted. Another $10 or so in taxes added on. Hotel was alright. More of a 2.5 start than a proper 3. It was very 80s-90s...i.e. worn. All around it was fine for what we wanted, and per usual thanks to better bidding, the price was right.
  4. post a review on that hotel....I've been thinking of bidding on that Marco island Hilton Looking forward to seeing how many exclamation points you use... :)
  5. booked! used the PRICELINE links etc. thanks again better bidding p.s. $50 was rejected...then they said 'offer $65 and it will be accepted' instead I added 'taylor' region and raised price to $59. $74.55 including all fees
  6. Tried a few days in a row up to $120 and had no success. Trying again today. Maybe its a busy week in San Fran, because i know of a couple of hotels who said they were sold out.
  7. All good advice. USW doesn't really work since the hotel our conference is based out of is on the east side of USE. I'd hate to have a 20 minute walk to and from meetings all day...that'd make me kind of stuck at the conference, and my wife will be in our USW hotel bored stiff! I'm also 35 days early, so perhaps waiting a week or so will help my chances.
  8. OK Thanks. Just tried with the 4 rebid zones. Started at $75 and went up $105 with no luck. Used the PRICELINE link here on the site. For my rebid zones I used... Lombard Cathedral Hall Civic Center South San Francisco isn't Fisherman's Wharf also eligible? On the priceline hotel list for California there were no 4* hotels listed in that zone... I have a back-up being held for me (Westin St. Francis for $205+tax per night) however I'd be keen to book somewhere for $120 taxes in. Fingers crossed...! If anyone has an opinion on the Westin St. Francis, and thinks I should stick with that versus paying $120 for a random Priceline USE 4*, I'd be happy to hear it. Cheers
  9. I will be staying in SF from June 4 to June 7 and need a 4* or better hotel room in the Union Square East area. I've used the service for New York, and there were a couple of re-bid zones without a 4* property. Same thing here? Thanks!
  10. Having trouble getting anything 4* UMCPS, ME, MW, DTSoho 5/9-5/11 Have tried up to $279, and have even done so splitting up the nights. Is the city sold out? my maximum would be 300 + taxes any of those neighbourhoods would be fine Regards, Ian
  11. I'm guessing they're choosing the Sheraton over your Beekman recommendation because they've never heard of the Beekman Tower, and since it's not really that impressive, and since it's 2 miles away from anything other than the mob-morgue (east river)
  12. thanks again. I'll book a back up, and wait a while. The Soho-Downtown thing is fine. There are only 4 hotels in the 4 star class...60 Thompson, SoHo Grand, TriBeCa Grand, Millennium Hilton. I'm very happy with all 4 of those. I work in the financial world, so would feel 'at home' there! Cheers, Ian
  13. P.S. I used the link's that help the site when going to priceline no reason not to...it's exactly the same, and keeps this site in business. If an extra 10 seconds of our time can help this resource that saves us hundreds, if not thousands of dollars, well that's a no brainer! cheers
  14. thanks for the help. I think you are right. I tried, and won nothing. I have a few questions... 1. are the '3 rooms' killing me? 2. I'd consider adding MTE...would that change anything? 3. should I wait till we're closer to my trip date? we're 2 full months away, so I'm just wondering if Priceline even gets a good deal on rooms this far out. 4. I've just found that the conference schedule isn't too bad, so why not just book in SoHo? Subways are amazing in NYC. thanks again. I really appreciate your wisdom.
  15. Yes, it is the only area, as we don't like the crapshoot of the 9 four star hotels in Midtown West. Midtown East might be marginally acceptable, but is a fair distance from where we will spend most of our time. The downtown four star hotels would be fine, as all four 4* in Soho are excellent. We need to be in the UM-CPS area for a conference however, so Soho is inconvenient. We figure we'd just stay downtown if we're going to be more than a 10 minute walk from the conference...thus no point in staying in Midtown East/Midtown South etc. We're very comfortable with UM-CPS Our maximum bid is $225/night. P.S...you list 4 hotels as 4 star in UM-CPS. Looks like The Swissotel is closed...The Westin is not a Westin...it's a Jumeriah. How old is that list? 16. We ended up forgoing hotwire, and stayed at Le Chateau Frontenac on a corporate plan (not much of one!) 4 nights, $329/night CDN$
  17. Hi there. I'm interested in booking the following 1. 3 rooms (3 couples) 2. May 9-11 (departure) 3. any 4* in that area please itemize a bidding strategy for us thanks!
  18. Dates are August 16-20th...and the price has changed to $110 USD per night + tax Regards, Ian
  19. Hi all. I've been offered the following... Hotwire Quebec City, QC $116 per night 4 Star Amenities - Fitness, Restaurant, Internet, Pool, Business Thanks!
  20. Thanks JD, or merci mr cote. I actually ended up not booking my montreal stay through hotwire because I really wanted to stay at either the Ritz Carlton or the Sofitel. Went with the Ritz. Thanks for everyone's help. Stay tuned for my Quebec City posting...I'll be there from 16-21 and will likely use Hotwire and the better bidding referral link in order to do so.
  21. plan changed, thanks to the terrorist morons in England cheers

  23. Thanks for the help. I'd love to stay at the Sofitel. Looks sharp. When I looked up availability at the Omni on other sites, there was only the final day available, not the 3-4 we were offered on Hotwire. Does that mean anything? i.e. OMNI is booked, and it's likely Sofitel that Hotwire is offering? Also, couldn't this be the Hotel Intercontinental? I noticed the Hotwire page said the 'TripAdvisor' rating was 3.5 out of 5 from users. This matches the intercontinental, however the Omni and Sofitel are 4 out of 5 thanks
