  1. Very pleased to get this amazing resort for such a great price. I've stayed here before and loved it. I began my search through your HOTWIRE link. Amenity icons were: Resort Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center High-Speed Internet Access Golf Nearby Tennis Nearby Spa Services Additional tip: vouchers for this resort's restaurants are usually available on Restaurant.com
  2. Won a full size car from Alamo for $17 per day. Dates are 9/24 - 9/27. Tried a few days for an SUV but it was above my budget so went with full size. Bid up from $12 and finally got accepted at $17. This was a great price, and I used your PRICELINE link each time I opened Priceline to bid! Thanks for all your help!
  3. Went ahead and booked the 4.5* in North Scottsdale and it is indeed the Hyatt Regency at Gainey Ranch. Dates 9/26 - 9/27, 2 persons. $79 per night. Very pleased with this purchase! Thanks as always to the board for all your assistance, and I used your link to HOTWIRE before purchasing.
  4. There is also a 4* in the Scottsdale zone for $85 per night, with amenities: Fitness, pool, restaurant, internet, business, golf and tennis. Could this be a match for the Doubletree Resort? I'd be very happy with that hotel also. Thanks!
  5. The dates are Sept 25-27, 2 persons. There is a 5* coming up at $126 per night, with amenities: Resort, Fitness, Pool, Restaurant, Business, High Speed Internet, Golf Nearby, Tennis Nearby, Spa, Childrens' Activity Am I right in thinking this is the Intercontintal Montelucia? There is also a 4* at $79 per night, with amenities: Smoke Free Fitness Pool Restaurant Business High Speed Internet Golf nearby Tennis nearby. And also 4.5* at $81 per night, with amenities: Resort Fitness Pool Restaurant Business High Speed Internet Golf nearby Tennis nearby Spa Services Could this 4.5* be the JW Marriott Camelback Inn? It's showing up in VP as 4.5* and seems to meet the descriptions above. The price of $79 - 81 is more within my budget, but I'd love to have an idea of what the 4 and 4.5* properties might be before booking. Thanks in advance for your help!
  6. Thanks for all your help - I ended up booking a special on the Sheraton's own website.
  7. The dates are May 15 - 17, 2 people. The rate is $92 per night. Amenities are: Smoke free Restaurant Fitness Business High Speed Internet Would I be right in thinking that this is the Sheraton, because of the smoke-free icon (and no pool)? If so, I'd be very happy with that hotel, at these rates, for these dates. I need something walking distance to the Staples Center / LA live complex, and I doubt the new JW Marriott or Ritz Carlton will be appearing here anytime soon! Thank you very much in advance, Better Bidders. (sorry, I posted this in the listed hotels section by accident - couldn't find out how to move it.)
  8. VERY pleased to get the Omni, which is always my first choice for downtown LA. Started at $70 and bid upwards in $5 increments, adding Culver City, Lawndale and Redondo as re-bid zones and got accepted at $85 which would have been my fourth and final bid for the day. Thank you as always to the board, and I used your link to PRICELINE before bidding. Sorry I should have put $85 in the title but I can't see a way to add it in.
  9. Won a one-way rental from Hertz, picking up in San Diego and dropping off at LAX, for the AMAZING rate of $90. This was an amazing win since the lowest quotes I was finding were in the region of $380 because of the one-way drop off charges. I did have some difficulty finding the one-way option for Name Your Own Price. There's no option to specify a different drop-off location if you just click through from their front page. I had to price the rental normally and THEN the option to name my own price for a one-way would appear. Hope this helps someone looking for a one-way!
  10. Started the bidding very low at $55 with Downtown only, and bid upwards in $5 increments adding Culver City, Lawndale and Redondo until finally got accepted by the Westin at $70. Was hoping for the Omni as we all have our favourites within a zone but can't complain at these rates! Thank you Betterbidding, as always, for your stellar service and information! I clicked through to Priceline from your link.
  11. I ended up not having to go after all, but thank you for the help and tips. I'm planning a separate trip now and will post about that, hopefully in the correct forum this time!
  12. Hello Any ideas on what this hotel could be? I checked on your pinned list and there doesn't seem to be a match for a 3.5* with these amenities. Thu 8 Oct - Fri 9 Oct. 1 night, 2 adults. 3.5* $122 per night Amenities are: Boutique Fitness Pool Restaurant Business Center 3.5 out of 5 on Tripadvisor Thank you very much! ***** Sorry! I just realised I posted this in the Priceline forum and it should have been Hotwire. I don't see any way to remove it... Should I just repost in Hotwire?
  13. Sorry for the late update - I ended up finding a promo rate of $165 directly through the Chamberlain's website, so I booked that since I really wanted the Chamberlain and couldn't risk a gamble. Thanks again! :)
  14. Very pleased - just won the 4* Hyatt Regency for $69 - published rates are $189 - $199 per night! Date is 5/22/09 - 5/23/09. Bidding strategy: Started by checking the board for recent wins and using the link to PRICELINE. Selected downtown, bid $50, rejected. Added South Natomas zone, increased bid to $55, rejected. Added University zone, increased bid to $60, rejected. Added West Sacramento zone, increased bid to $69, accepted! I've been periodically trying for this stay for a couple of months, and kept getting rejected up to my ceiling of $75. Very pleased to have got in at the last minute for a tremendous price for a 4* in the Downtown area. :) :) :o Thanks to all on this site for a great service and tremendous info!
  15. Hi there I've been watching this area and dates for a couple of weeks and I've been seeing what I believe is Le Parc Suites. Today a hotel with these different icons have suddenly popped up, and I'm wondering if it could be the Chamberlain, even though it's not the 'usual' icons for the Chamberlain. The amenities are: Suite Fitness Pool Restaurant Laundry High-Speed Internet Kitchenette It also mentions 100+ Tripadvisor reviews with a rating of 4 out of 5, which could be both Chamberlain or Le Parc. What's confusing me is that during another search for a different hotel for the second part of our stay (Santa Monica 04/05/09 - 04/07/09) a 4* hotel in Beverly Hills - West Hollywood came up at $121 per night with Le Parc Suites' 'usual' amenities: Restaurant, Pool, Fitness, Laundry (although I know these icons can change at any time). Could Le Parc Suites be showing with an additional Suite and Kitchenette icon for one date, and without those icons for the following two nights? Could the Chamberlain be showing up with different icons from its usual Suite, Pool, Fitness, Hi-Speed Internet? I'd really prefer the Chamberlain if at all possible. I've stayed at Le Parc Suites and while it's fine, I fancy trying somewhere different in the same area. Thanks in advance for the advice. I love this board - the help and advice you give is invaluable!
  16. Amenities were: Suite Beachfront Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Thanks again to all on the board for your invaluable help!
  17. I took your advice and went with the 4.5*, which was indeed the Pueblo Bonita Sunset Beach. $122 per night plus charges, which comes out to $305 for two nights. Very pleased - thank you for all your assistance and I used the HOTWIRE link above to begin my purchase.
  18. Dates are 03-13-09 to 03-15-09 Price is $161 Amenities listed are Resort Beachfront Fitness Pool Restaurant Business Center Tennis Spa I searched the forum but couldn't find anything matching those amenities in downtown. There's a 4.5* listed for $122 which I'm certain is the Pueblo Bonita Sunset Beach, but this other one is stumping me! Thanks in advance.
  19. Accessed through Savingsbarn.... First tried $12, compact but was told it was too low. Then tried $15 but was rejected. Accepted at $16 for compact. Thanks again guys, for all your hints and tips.
  20. First bid of $17 for a mid-size which Priceline didn't even allow to go through. I changed it to compact but again, wasn't even allowed to bid at that level. Next I bid $20 for a midsize, which was rejected. I then tried $23 for a mid-size, rejected. Tried $23 again for a compact, which was accepted. I accessed Priceline through Savingsbarn - thanks for all the help and tips I've received on this forum!
  21. I agree that the Renaissance is not the fanciest of the fancy, but for that rate I certainly can't argue! Looking at the dates, we actually only have five days to spend somewhere before going to Maui, so that's probably just enough for one island. Nightlife isn't really a factor, because I'm taking my mother for her birthday, so dining and perhaps some shopping will be as fast-paced as our evenings get! :) Of the two choices (Big Island and Kauai) I'm really leaning towards Kauai but still have to narrow down the area and the accomodation. Any recommendations? Lonestar, you're quite the advocate for Kauai! Thanks again for all the support and advice - much appreciated!
  22. Sorry for the delay in replying - I had a busy few days in which my travel plans were sidelined. Well, I tried bidding this morning and won the Renaissance Wailea at $160 per night, for Oct 23-30. :) This seems like a great price because rates are being quoted at over $300 per night, on PL, the hotel's own website and Expedia etc. So I'm very pleased. :) I accessed PL through the Savingsbarn link, and followed the advice above. First bid of $140 was rejected. I added Kihei and bid $150, which was rejected. I closed browser, re-entered and added Kihului zone, and bid $160, which was accepted by the Renaissance. So the scheme worked brilliantly, and I thank you all very much. Now I just have to figure out whether to go to Kauai or the Big Island for the first week of our trip!
  23. Thanks for such a quick reply! Maximum bid is $180.
  24. Need help with bidding strategy please... I'm planning this trip for my mother's 60th birthday and I'd like to take her to as nice a place as possible, so I'm hoping for a resort. I've more or less ruled out the Kaanapali area because I'd prefer to avoid the Whaler. I've read that it doesn't usually come up as a name-your-own-price result, but I'm not willing to risk being the first to receive it! So that leads me to Wailea. I see that the Sheraton and Renaissance have come up at $175 for similar dates, but are being quoted in the mid 400's on regular sites, so what should my starting price be? Many thanks in advance - this site is the best.
