How much should I bid for a hotel in NYC for 6/10. Hoping for min. 2.5 star - prefer 3 star. Midtown West or Central Park south areas. Have tried, and failed @ $166. Not sure if I should increase slightly or if I'm not in the ballpark and am wasting my time at this price level. HELP!

I have tried unsuccessfully to bid on a 2.5+ star hotel in Mid Town West. I have bid up to $166. I also expanded to include Central Park South. Am I underbidding? Also, am I more likely to be successful as far ahead as possible or at the last minute? I am looking for a room for June 10th.
