  1. LOL, blindman! Toronto, mate. Sort of a late honeymoon taking in a visit to Niagara Falls. Getting married in Prague in May. See you on MSE sometime, yeah? :)
  2. I've got THIS booked at $175 for those exact same dates if that is any use to you. The reservation is fully cancellable so a useful backup.
  3. Bid for a work colleague on the UK site so I've done an approximate conversion from
  4. Yeah, I'm in the same boat. At least we will have a roof over our heads!
  5. Hi there. I'm travelling to NYC on the exact same dates as you and I have a cancellable backup in place in case my Priceline efforts come to nothing. It is at the 3* Marriott Financial Center in the Downtown area and it is $175 per night. Go to THIS page and plug your dates in. The rate rules say 'Must be booked by Sep 1' and that is it a Marriott Rewards promo but you can still book the rate now and you are not required to enter a Marriott Rewards number (although you may as well join because membership is free). You can cancel the reservation up to 24 hours before without penalty. I stayed at the hotel in 2002 and it was really lovely so I have no qualms about staying there again. Hope this is of use to you.
  6. I've just noticed that the link in my post regarding the Marriott Financial Center doesn't work properly. To obtain the $175 rate you need to enter D59 into the 'Corporate/Promotional code' box. The rate rules say it is for Marriott Rewards members but you do not have to enter a Marriott Rewards number to book at that rate.
  7. I'm travelling to NYC from UK for 3 nights - Oct 27 to 30. I have made a cancellable reservation at the Marriott Financial Center in the Downtown area for $175 per night. This is my safety net in case I can't get anything via Priceline. This rate is available for the first 2 nights of your stay, just leaving you the third night. There is a pre-paid, non-refundable rate of $237 at the Courtyard Manhattan/Fifth Avenue for that night. If you're interested, click HERE for the Financial Center and HERE for the Courtyard. The rate at the Courtyard is available simply by searching from that particular hotel's page but the Financial Center rate only comes up when using the link above. The Financial Center hotel, although in the Downtown area, has a subway station very close by and you can be in Times Square in around 10 minutes. Hope I've been of assistance.
  8. Just returned from a 3 night stay at the Prague Marriott - our second visit to the hotel. We got it via PL for
  9. Just an update for anyone who's interested - I cancelled my reservation at the Marriott Financial Center and re-booked exactly the same type of room on the same dates for $175 per night via THIS SITE. This new booking is also cancellable up to the day before. The previous booking was $239 per night.
  10. I booked it at marriott.com - the rate I got is their weekend rate and is cancellable without penalty up to the day before.
  11. I booked into the Marriott Financial Center in the Downtown area. I stayed here when I went to New York back in 2002 (won via Priceline) so I know what it is like. The rates in Midtown were too high and the hotel has a subway station 1 block away so you can be in Midtown in about 10 mins anyway.
  12. Hi and thanks for the replies. The purpose of our trip is purely leisure. I have pretty much decided to sit tight until about 6 weeks before I go and then have another crack at Priceline. In the meantime, as I mentioned in my original post, I have my cancellable backup in place so if all else fails at least I have a roof over my head! Staying in Jersey is definitely something I've thought about. I've had a look at reviews of the Hyatt, Courtyard and Doubletree in Jersey City and they all would do if I can't get anything in NYC itself. Thanks again everyone. :)
  13. Any advice at all, anybody? Is the time I'm visiting (27 - 30 October) a particularly expensive time (hotel-wise) in NYC? Would waiting until around 4-6 weeks before help at all? Thanks again.
  14. Hello and good afternoon (as it is here in England) I have booked some mega-cheap flights to NYC for the dates mentioned and now obviously need a hotel. I've been to NYC once before and stayed at the Marriott Financial Center in early December 2002. I won it via Priceline with a bid of
  15. Thanks! I have yet to read a bad word about this hotel so I'm really looking forward to my trip.
  16. Hi all, my first post so I hope I've got it right! The weekend of my travel is a Bank Holiday in England so I thought I would do a cheap hop over to Germany for a couple of days. I bid
