  6. Why would you not prefer LIC? Is it the lack of manhattan feel? Thanks for the RateDrop link. I found a 2.5* LIC for $86. Would this be the best western plaza?
  7. No luck yet. I've tried including LIC as well. I'll keep trying the same strategy hoping I'll get something soon. Sounds good?
  8. I'd prefer the following areas in order: Times Square Midtown West Central Park South MSG Hell's Kitchen Midtown East Chelsea Empire State UES UWS Union Square Lower East Side SOHO DT QB If not successful in these areas in my initial bid, I'd try LIC, then Brooklyn Thanks
  9. Thanks for letting me know about the occupancy guarantee. Looking for just one room. I'm trying both Priceline and Hotwire. If I get the better deal on Priceline then I'll take that chance on the occupancy. If I get something on the island, that convenience outweighs the risk of sleeping on the floor! What should my strategy be?
  10. Hi Everyone, First post, great information I've read on the board so far. Family of 5 (young kids) looking to travel July 20-25 to explore NYC for the first time. Price and convenience are equally important. From my research I'm comfortable with $100 max. bid price for 2.5* and up anywhere from UWS and UES all the way south the DT, alternatively in LIC and Brooklyn. Close proximity to transit is important. Free parking/internet/breakfast is preferable. What should my strategy be? When should I bid - now or closer to travel date? What day of the week? Cheapest I've found so far is 2* LIC hotel for $104 on Priceline.Express and 2.5* LIC hotel for $89 on Hot.wire. Your help is appreciated!
