  1. Started with LAX $50 rejected (3.5+4*) +Inglewood $60 rejected +Westwood $70 rejected +Santa Monica $80 accepted (total $99.xx) Only to realize.. I could've booked on IHG F&F site for $85+tax = $100 = same total as Priceline And that Crowne Plaza charges $13/day for Wi-Fi and $15/day for self-parking Let's hope I benefited BB site anyway using PRICELINE link here I should've waited, ha ha..I'm getting newbie with PL bidding again with lack of recent stays
  2. I tried $80-$150 USD/night on Priceline for the whole week and just gave up and got Hotwire instead It's exactly what's described. It shows FREE parking, FREE internet <-- easy hint Singapore (Orchard) 4.5* Royal Plaza on Scotts Amenities: Restaurant, Pool, Fitness, Smoke Free, Hi-Speed Internet Rate per night: $132.00 Nights: 3 Rooms: 2 Tax recovery charges & fees: $186.78 Trip total: $978.79
  3. Was going to go for 4* Pittsburgh (Downtown) for < $100, but failed to do so for the last week My latest, lowest counteroff was $74 (should've taken that in retrospect), as prices increased over the weekend I think Anyway, realized there's Residence Inn in Pittsburgh now, only one in the zone, so kept trying from $60 and all the way up to $120 (over several days & re-bidding zones), finally won it at $130 a bit high (retail from Expedia is $187, Marriott website is $240) but having Kitchen would be useful, plus it's #1 hotel in Pittsburgh (TA reviews) Free breakfast is nice (for 3 adults, 2 days), since I can't get downtown for < $100 may as well get the hotel I want (RI is also friendlier travelling with a baby) Thanks, used the PRICELINE link here Mods/Admins, a quick correction possibly I think Cranberry has no more 3*, at least that's what it showed on my Priceline zone/map page, and I used that for re-bid zone Pittsburgh (Cranberry Township) 3* Four Points North (previously 2.5*) 3* Hyatt Place 2* Fairfield Inn
  4. Used the PRICELINE link here, thanks again BB Bid on 3.5* hotel in Buffalo area for Park-and-Fly, Marriott is currently the only 3.5* Bid $50, rejected Add new zone, $55, rejected Add new zone, $60, acceptted Final is $60 + etc.. = $77
  5. Thanks for this thread for me to use as baseline comparison I've started to look for 12/24 or 12/25 ~ 12/28 hotels and they are quite decent (e.g. < $100 on Hotwire, or even Travelzoo deals) Guess it really is an empty town then
  6. Someone got a nice 2.5* Hampton Inn for $140/night Dec 3~5 NYC Priceline Win So nothing wrong with going to 2.5* or 3* I'm in NYC for Dec 3~6 also, and got 2 nights via a "taiwanese rental" for $175/night for 3 persons at 14th and 6th Ave Not the best deal now I see the above Hampton Inn :) but at least I'll have Kitchen, wi-fi, and our own unit vs 1 room
  7. JUST trippled check in case It is the Hilton by the airport, thank god. I have a 7 am flight ex-EWR
  8. Used the PRICELINE link here, thanks 3.5* hotel only for EWR hotel 1st bid $51, rejected one day later 1st bid $55, reject 2nd bid $60 with Elizabeth free re-bid zone, reject 3rd bid $65 with West Orange, accepted Final total after tax & fees is $85 USD Thanks Looks good for an overnight stay for the Monday morning flight
  9. I got the Expedia deal also and in NYC for Dec 3~6 also... Looking around, hotel is NOT cheap... wow But heck, I wouldn't trust Craigslist. And honestly, you already saved $300.. you could spend a bit on hotel, EVEN in New Jersey
  10. Sorry, it should be $95 in the Thread title and not $90 Mods, please change for me. I tried in the "Full Edit" but don't see the option
  11. Monday 9/6 ~ Tuesday 9/7 Bid up to $85 for 4* and rejected. $85 for 3.5* - rejected $90 for 4* rejected. $95 acceptted Never been here before, looks like good location though, access to shopping mall and underground walk
  12. Tried $85 for 3.5*/4*, rejected. $90 accepted by Hilton Hotwire shows $135 for the 4* hotel, so I am happy Stayed here in 2009 September, and glad to be back again with its good location and modern rooms
  13. Bid at $70, counter at $85 Re-bid using a free Ottawa (Hull) zone at $75, and accepted Guess I should bid at $72 to start with :) Arc hotel was showing $76 on Hotwire yesterday (not shown today so far), so not much of a bargain I guess
  14. So the stay was better than I thought for $45 usd .. I'll post review to TripAdvisor also +Room was decent size and clean (slightly outdated yes). 2 double beds. 27" CRT TV +Great Lake View on the 20th floor (room 2008) +Lobby was new and nice +Walkable to the lake side (Rock & Roll hall of fame, science center), downtown (Public square, Tower City, The Arcade) -Parking was in-and-out self-parking at $18/day (park till 5 pm of departure day)
  15. I'll be sure to report back next week and I did use the PRICELINE link here, still fingers crossed :) because most RECENT reviews were quite specific on the bad parts vs expectation
  16. I knew this could happen, bidding 3.5* and getting Crowne Plaza (should not be 3.5*) Internet and TA reviews aren't good I'll have my fingers crossed!! $45 + etc.. total cost $59 USD
  17. Tried to bid 5* for all zones, and no success for under $130, so gave up on that Probably because the Marathon on Apr 25 Bidded $90 and $100 today using the free re-bid zones Got countered $117 for Westminster, didn't accept it Tried it just now (weird, less than 24 hours), with just Westminster and $110, got accepted (should've bid $105 then :)) Used the PRICELINE link here, thanks TripAdvisor is a bit worrysome, but oh well http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g1...on_England.html Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: US$110.00 Subtotal: US$110.00 Taxes & Fees: US$27.51 Total Charges: US$137.51
  18. InterContinental Athenaeum Started with $60, rejected (countered with $77, ignored it) Next try at $70, accepted to my surprise I believe this is also available on Hotwire for $82 USD/night I am pretty happy for a 5* hotel TripAdvisor review http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g1...ens_Attica.html
  19. Probably, I think 4* is around $100 USD range Check HOTWIRE for a baseline reference for 4* hotel in the area you want
  20. forgot to add that, just checked Hotwire Amenities See description Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center High-speed Internet Access
  21. 280.60/247.13 = 1.1354347914053332254279124347509 Are they both in USD denominations? or $280 is in CAD Hotwire uses USD to keep in mind
  22. Tried to bid lower on PRICELINE but no success, so I just gave up and used HOTWIRE
  23. Got Marriott Chateau Champlain (3.5*) for $120 for Sep 5~6 saw this from priceline, not sure if it means Marriott is now 4*?
  24. Argh... I had this Priceline thread bookmarked and forgot about it, and ended up winning the exact same bid, but at $60 (I overpaid $6, oops) Now to call them and see what I can get as Marriot Gold member Marriott Pittsburgh City Center 112 Washington Place Pittsburgh, PA 15219 412-471-4000 Check-In: Sunday, May 17, 2009-03:00 PM Check-Out: Monday, May 18, 2009-12:00 PM Summary of Charges Room Cost (avg. per room, per night): $60.00 (USD) Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Room Subtotal: $60.00 (USD) Taxes and Fees: $16.10 (USD) Total Room Cost: $76.10 (USD)
  25. Thanks for the reply 1. From the look of it, cherry trees are primarily around the Tidal Basin lake area, and I won't be driving but taking METRO, so I thought that Capitol Hill's the best area to be Obviously if there's good deals not too far from it, and we can commute in/out, I'm open to that Maybe even around the DCA airport area? 2. Price is the key, and I'm hoping to find < $100 USD/night, 4* is great, but I'm open to 3* The cheaper the better :) But if it's a great 4* hotel, I am open to try it for one night
