  1. The amenities shown on Hotwire were: Fitness Center,Restaurant(s),Business Center,High-Speed Internet Access What was surprising was that the hotel actually has a number of other amenities, including a pool
  2. I tried on PRICELINE for a 4* hotel at $80- starting with Georgetown, and rebid at , 85, 90, 95 and 100 adding Dupont Cirlce, Convention Center, DC Northeast and Mt. Vernon and got nothing. I saw a 4* on HOTWIRE for $100 and thinking it was The Dupont Hotel decided I would try it. The actual Hotel was the Washington Hilton. Not sure if it is a 4* but it should be fine for the night and regular prices for this date appear to be extremely high.
  3. I may have created some confusion by using the wrong inititals UIC (which I now think stands for Univ of Illinois Chicago Circle) for the Univ of Chicago. We are visiting the University of Chicago. We are visiting Northwestern on 8/31 (staying in Skokie on 8/30). After visiting Northwestern we will be driving into Chicago to stay the night of 8/31 and visiting Univ of Chi on 9/1. Sounds like we should drive to Univ of Chi on the morning of 9/1. So I know what area(s) to bid on Princeline, does it matter which of the downtown areas we stay in for the commute to Univ of Chi in the morning? e.g North Michigan or Greater Chicago or the Loop? or will the drive take about the same amount of time from any of them. Thanks for the info on the garages. I realy apprecaite the help.
  4. I am also heading to Chicago for a look at UIC with my son. We will only be in Chicago proper for one night (8/31). There is a 9:30 am session that we need to get to in the morning. Also trying to figure out the best way to get to UIC from downtown. We will have a car for the drive in from Evanston and will be flying out that afternoon (9/1). It looks like public transportation to UIC takes about an hour so driving seems like it will take less time - but I am not sure about traffic or finding parking at UIC - do the garages fill up? Does it matter which of the downtown areas we stay in for the commute to UIC in the morning? e.g North Michigan, Greater Chicago, the Loop? Thanks in advance for any help and thoughts.
  5. I was looking for 2 rooms in either Quincy Market or Copley Square areas 3-1/2* or up for the night of 7/22. I bid Quincy Market & Copley Square - 3-1/2* for 105 and was offered a rebid if price was increased by $20. Declined the offer and made a free rebid (by adding No. Cambridge) at 110 was declined Made a free rebid (by adding Fenway) at 115 - which was accepted for the 4* Fairmount Copley Square
  6. On 6/22 I won the Sheraton Boston for $145/nt for 2 rooms from 6/24 - 6/27. I just checked price on Trvelocity and it was showing $262/nt. When I went to the Sheraton web site just now, it was showing No Availability. Do I need to be concerned that I will be rejected at the hotel? Late on 6/20 I bid for Copley Square, Faneuil Hall and Harbor Front-Aquarium at 3.5* & 4* with a number of free rebids up to $140 with no success. In early am on 6/21, I signed back in and bid the same areas in $5 increments from 145 up to $155 with no success. In early am on 6/22, I bid Copley Square, Faneuil Hall and Harbor Front-Aquarium at 3.5* & 4* and won with a first bid of $145. Now I am wondering if my rejections on 6/21 was because I had not waited 24 hours, or the prices the hotels were willing to accept on 6/22 had been reduced because it was closer to the date of arrival
  7. "The Woodcliff Lake Hilton is not shown because it has not yet been reported via Hotwire (only on Priceline)." I saw a review on TripAdvisor from someone that said they had gotten Woodcliff Lake over the summer at $55/night.
  8. Not really flexible on the pool as it is for the kids. Might be OK at the Sheraton Crossroads if they have some grounds to run around on The descriptiions of the properties are below - Does these mean that if I ask for 3.5 stars in Newark (North Bergen County - Rockland County) [is that the proper choice of area?] and it says High Speed internet and tennis (they showed as strikeouts) that it is highly probable that it is the Sheraton Crossroads and that if it is missing those items, it could be either of the hotels. Newark (North Bergen County - Rockland County) 3.5* Hilton Pearl River Amenities: Restaurant, Pool, Fitness, Business (same as Sheraton Crossroads) 3.5* Sheraton Crossroads Amenities: Restaurant, Pool, Fitness, High-speed Internet, Tennis, Business, Laundry **most recently seen with all amenities above (including the ones struck out)** (without the above amenties the same as Hilton Pearl River) The Woodcliff Lake Hilton doesn't seem to be listed. With respect to using your link - was that if I chose to just make a regular reservation? Thanks again.
  9. I have not used Hotwire or Priceline before. I was looking for 3 rooms for my family at a hotel in Northern New Jeresy over Thanksgiving - in Wednesday - out Friday. From looking at hotels in general, it seemed like the Pearl River Hilton or the Woodcliff Lake Hilton wouldf work well - as they both have indoor pools and grounds for the kidds to ruin around on. We live in NYC and have a car. Are these hotels available? how do I figure out which hotel in a blind listitng to bid for? Are there any special things I should know in how to bid. The hotels are showing on their web sites as available at 107 / 129 night. Thanks in advance.
