  1. Guest Score 8/10 or higher guest favorite Guaranteed amenities: - pets allowed - business center - restaurant - fitness center Based on the express deals hotel list, it appears the possibilities are: Ames Hilton Boston Downtown/Faneuil Millennium Bostonian Unfortunately I'm having trouble with the site (tried two devices) and the list is cut off just before Millennium and I can't see the full details of the amenities available at these hotels. Looking for some guidance on narrowing it down. Thanks!!
  2. I will be making this purchase. There was only one trip in which my friend took over booking because she was impatient. Not everyone is willing to take the time to hunt down deals like us here. Is there anything more you would like to know about the personal circumstances of my previous bookings? I want to ensure others find useful information for their bookings. As for whether all the 2*'s in the zones I am bidding, I am unclear on how I am to know this. My intent of posting is to be directed on how I go about this.I have reviewed the Priceline Hotel List topic and have only identified two hotels in the priceline zone names I listed (Upper West Side, Upper East Side, Morningside Heights): 2* Days Hotel Broadway 2* Hotel Marrakesh I note that there is no listing for Morningside Heights hotels I am asking these questions as I am no expert on the matter.
  3. Done. In none of the cases was the method I was inquiring about successful. My booking at Days Inn Bronx referred to above was via Expedia Total room cost: C$117.25 /night Taxes & fees: C$20.76 Lodging total: C$138.01 My Days Inn Broadway stay was years ago and I did not book it.
  4. I was not successful. My friend ended up getting the MGM Grand via a travel agent and is was at least $200 out of desparation
  5. I ended up booking via PRICELINE and won the Delta Chelsea for $76/night (4/19-4/21)
  6. Thanks but my friend ended up finding a booking for one night at the MGM. I'm not sure what the price was but she used a travel agent
  7. I couldn't find anything in my preferred price range and ended up booking via Expedia using some points as a discount
  8. Hi, I am looking to stay in Manhattan or the Bronx Check in May 17 Check out May 19 Price: under $140-$150 per night? (I paid about $120 for Days Inn Bronx a few months ago and am on a budget) I am ok with as low as a 2*. I stayed at the Days Inn Bronx and the Days Inn Broadway in the past and both were perfectly fine for me. I don't mind low space, I just have standards of cleanliness. I understand there are no re-bid zones in NYC but I am hoping for some direction on a strategy. In terms of location, I am pretty open with anywhere in Manhattan or the Bronx, preferring more north (UWS, UES, MH). I have a vehicle for my stay so my thought is that in these areas I might be more likely to have free parking or at least fairly inexpensive parking. Thank you!
  9. Listed amenities are: Free Breakfast, Boutique Hotel, Restaurant(s), High-Speed Internet Access I took a look at the hotel lists and none match up perfectly. I am guessing the Wellesley Manor Boutique Hotel?
  10. I am ready to have a revised strategy on deck. I secured a fully refundable (up to 10/24) reservation at the MGM via Expedia at a total cost of $199. Between now and the 24th, I would like to attempt twice more for a 5* in Strip Vicinity South and Strip North List View obtains 5*s for this date at: $203-$499 base rate Express details: $201 for South Vicinity & $453 for North Revised budget: bid up to $160 Can you please recommend a strategy?
  11. I would like to keep my max bid to $145 for now. In a few days, I may re-evaluate and increase to about $160. I would love to land the Venetian or somewhere else with a beach.
  12. Understood. I made a new list for a 4* series of bids which had 6 re-bid zones but I've since removed Summerlin :) I will try my 5* strategy again tomorrow starting at the same amount but higher increments. Does that seem reasonable? On the other hand, I just saw a post below with a $73 success for the Vdara! (last minute however)
  13. Amenities list: Resort Casino Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center High-Speed Internet Access Golf Nearby Tennis Nearby Spa Services Accessible for the dead Free Parking Free Internet Accessible path of travel Accessible bathroom Handicapped parking Roll-in shower Recommended in 75 % of Hotwire customer reviews Any thoughts on what this might be? Luxor, Monte Carlo or Tropicana maybe?
  14. I got antsy I tried a $90 starting bid going up by increments of $5 for the 11 re-bid zones and was rejected at my final bid of $145 Any tips? Is my final price unreasonable for a 5* in this time frame? When it becomes closer to the date and I am still unsuccessful, I will become more flexible and would stay at any of the 4 or 4.5* from hotwire or Expedia
  15. Clever! My results: (highest star in bracket) Boulder Strip (3*) Fremont St. Vicinity (4*) Henderson (3*) Lake Las Vegas (4*) Las Vegas Airport (LAS) (4*) Las Vegas Convention Center (4*) Las Vegas Strip North (5*) Las Vegas Strip Vicinity North (5*) Las Vegas Strip Vicinity South (5*) Mount Charleston - Indian Springs (not able to select) NW Las Vegas (3.5*) Near Las Vegas Strip East (4*) Near Las Vegas Strip West (4*) Nellis - Las Vegas Speedway (3*) Summerlin (3.5*) Based on these findings, I will stick with 5* in order to ensure I secure only Las Vegas Strip Vicinity North or Las Vegas Strip Vicinity South and do re-bids in the following zones: Boulder Strip, Fremont St. Vicinity, Henderson, Lake Las Vegas, Las Vegas Airport (LAS), Las Vegas Convention Center, NW Las Vegas, Near Las Vegas Strip East, Near Las Vegas Strip West, Nellis - Las Vegas Speedway, Summerlin [11 re-bid zones] Based on these 11 re-bid zones, can you recommend a starting bid? CORRECTION: I am interested in Strip Vicinity South and Strip North (NOT Strip Vicinity North ie Trump)
  16. I am trying to book 10/26 to 10/27 at 4 or 5*. I would like to pay $140 or less before taxes/fees To take advantage of the re-bidding zones, it looked like sticking to 5* would give the most number of re-bid opportunities. I am having trouble, however, determining what the re-bid zones are. When I do a regular Priceline search to determine highest star rating in each zone, I am only provided with a list of 7. These are: Las Vegas Strip West of Strip East of Strip - McCarran Airport (LAS) Fremont St - Downtown Area North Las Vegas Henderson - Lake Las Vegas Boulder Highway Strip --I have determined than only the Las Vegas Strip zone has 5* When I go to name my own price, I am provided a longer list (14!), in which some options do not match up. These are: Boulder Strip Fremont St. Vicinity Henderson Lake Las Vegas Las Vegas Airport (LAS) Las Vegas Convention Center Las Vegas Strip North Las Vegas Strip Vicinity North Las Vegas Strip Vicinity South Mount Charleston - Indian Springs NW Las Vegas Near Las Vegas Strip East Near Las Vegas Strip West Nellis - Las Vegas Speedway Summerlin I'm really not sure what to make of this... I would greatly appreciate any guidance on the re-bidding process and perhaps a number to start at. Thanks!
  17. No luck again today. Is my price unrealistic or will I have a better chance in the coming weeks? I tried to judge by getting prices for weekends up to the end of August but I wonder if September is just a totally different game. Unsuccessful bid: 09/21/2012 to 09/23/2012 Midtown West, Upper West Side, Upper East Side, Midtown East, Central Park South, Queensborough Bridge, Madison Square Garden - Convention Area, Empire State Building Area, Chelsea Area, Hell's Kitchen, Times Square - Theatre District 2* $150
  18. It says my dates in the e-mail but this must not be accurate...
  19. PM sent. I tried again and still no luck Yesterday afternoon I received an email from PL with some recent rates people obtained for my same dates. There was one for MSG, 2.5* at $128 so I immediately went on the site to try that rate. No luck again! I even tried $138... and no luck I don't know what these e-mails are about but they certainly do not seem accurate.
  20. I have the oldest version of explorer at work :( no privileges to update
  21. I've decided to stay in the Bronx (Days Inn Yankees Stadium) for the Thursday as I will arrive in NYC just in time to check-in and go to the game. I can bring down my average cost and have re-budgeted the remaining days to up to $170 all-in price 2* is ok area is flexible - CP, MTW, MTE, TS are ideal / anywhere on Manhattan except FD, LES & Soho are ok. based on BiddingHelper.com: Hotwire: $187/night = $230.33/night with fees & taxes Priceline: doesn't populate by BiddingHelper.com but manually via ExpressDeals - $187/night UWS (2*) = $228.90/night with fees & taxes OR $229/night = $266.27/night with fees & taxes for the Belnord Hotel Hotels.com: doesn't populate either :( There are two 1*'s that have decent reviews: Harlem B&B (Harlem - Morningside) Hotel 309 (Chelsea) starting at $213 before taxes that I may have some luck bidding on This is certainly proving much more difficult than my past experiences with PL!
  22. I just tried for my dates (20-Sept to 23-Sept) and it appears to be the same one (CPW 2.5* with high speed as only amenity) and it's $175! ahhhhh! any tips?
  23. I am planning a baseball trip for my mother and I, starting Thursday September 20th. I rarely spend time in the hotel aside from sleeping and bathing, so amenities aren't a high priority. As we are two women travellers, safety is one concern. Lastly, since we are attending 3 baseball games in the Bronx, ease of access to subway (4 & D) is ideal. Aside from attending the baseball games (3-4 hrs per day), we would like to take in as much of Manhattan as possible and we'd like have our "base of operations" in Manhattan. I've attempted bids for: Midtown East, Midtown West, Upper West Side, Upper East Side, Central Park South, Morningside Heights - Harlem, Madison Square Garden - Convention Area, Empire State Building Area, Chelsea Area, Hell's Kitchen, Queensborough Bridge, Times Square - Theatre District 2* and up $130 bid and have not had any success - I'd like to stick to the more northern parts of Manhattan - Upper East/Upper West/Harlem or Central Park/Times Square - prefer more like a 2.5* or higher - hoping to stay under $150/night with fees (on average) I am debating a few different strategies... - booking the HJ Bronx for the first night @ 127/night to bring down the average cost and thus allow me to budget more for the Fri & Sat nights - waiting for a few more weeks to try re-bidding and having the HJ as a back-up - splitting up the night stays and switching hotels in between days - booking the Thursday alone and waiting for that e-mail that asks you if you'd like to take a second day at the same price (Priceline or Hotwire... can't remember which) - waiting until the very last minute for a PRICELINE EXPRESS deal Please give me any tips you have or correct any assumptions I may have made in my strategy thus far. Thanks!
