  1. I bid $45 for a 3.5 star in Forest Park/Clayton,and was rejected. I opened a new window, bid $43 for a four star in downtown and won the Hyatt at the Arch. The going rate on the priceline site was $99 per night. Thanks to all who posted here! Much better hotel, location and price than the wedding rate we were offered out in Brentwood! And we aren't with the family..............oops, did I just say that? :D
  2. We were looking for a room for Easter weekend in the Naperville/Lisle area. I tried $37 and $40 last week and I was denied. Today, I was lazy and started at $40 and won the Hyatt Lisle, which is always our win of choice! Ironically, last week the Hyatt posted the room rate at $87, today it is posted at $99. If anyone is bidding on this area for the coming weekend, gamble and shoot a bit below $40, as there are a bunch of free bids available. I was just wiped out and not in the mood to play the game, which of course now I regret! Good luck and Happy bidding!
  3. Thanks, B.Griffin and Aaron, I used your bid, added the $5 Bonus money that priceline is offering today. I booked this for $55 (+$5 Priceline Bonus) for January 25th-28th. Summary of Charges Room Cost (avg. per room, per night): $55.00 (USD) Apply for our new priceline rewards Visa card today. Get cash back. Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Guests Per Room:2 Number of Nights: 3 Room Subtotal: $165.00 (USD) Taxes and Fees: $37.86 (USD) Total Room Cost: $202.86 (USD) The going rate for B. Griffin was $139 a night, mine was $149, but the $60 bid worked for both of us! Thanks to everyone for sharing on here! Have a great weekend, B.Griffin!
  4. I won this hotel on my first bid, which always makes me wish I would have started lower! We are always happy to win this hotel, it is in a great location and the rooms fit our needs perfectly! For future reference, the going rates on the Hyatt website for this room were $84 for the internet special and $99 for the normal room rate. Thanks to everyone who shares on these boards! Your input has saved us so much money. :) :) AaronJB, you rock! Your knowledge of this area is so precise and you are always kind and patient and a true midwesterner at heart! Thank you!
  5. I followed the lead from this board and bid $40, got it on the first bid. For future reference, the Hyatt online rate was $92.50 and the priceline rate before bidding was $95. We are always thrilled to get this hotel! Thanks to everyone! Love this site! :) Bid through the PRICELINE link above!
  6. After getting lucky enough to land tickets to Eric Claptons Crossroads concert, I hoped we could get this hotel. It has been sitting on hotwire for about a month at $119, last night I saw it had finally dropped to $59. Went through SavingsBarn, and bid $42 on priceline for three rooms. My bid was accepted on the first try. I have been trying to get this hotel for years, and I can't wait to finally get to stay there. We have teenagers in tow, so they can shop, swim, and paddleboat while we soak up the sun and music. :) It's always nice to have a roadtrip in your radar! Thanks again to everyone here at BB! Congratulations, you got your price of $42 for a 3-star hotel room. Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $42.00 Subtotal: $252.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $40.71 Total Charges*: $292.71 .
  7. Hi Flip, Wow! You lucky dog, you won one of our favorite hotels in all of Chicago! On the day of your checkout the Chicago Blues Fest opens, it is across the street from your hotel at Grant Park, and best of all it is FREE! Be sure to check that out! You are also within walking distance to Buddy Guy's blues club, which is relocating very soon, but the last I checked was still at their original site. (Less than 6 blocks away, maybe 3? It's been a few months and I enjoy Chicago so much I never mind walking.) There is plenty of parking around this area and we have used many of the open lots without any problems. The hotel has a shuttle that will take you up to the Hancock Bldg and Navy Pier, over to State Street, etc. This is the hotel the Chicago Bears stay at the night before home games. Great food and drink at Kitty O'Shea's on the ground floor of the hotel. Be sure and check out the Grand Ballrooms at the hotel just for fun. What are the age ranges in this family outing? That may give us ideas of what/where to send you. Are the Cubs/Sox in town? Wicked? Enjoy! You will have a great time in Chi-town. Congrats on a great hotel! :)
  8. Sorry, This stay was for one night on 11/19/06. Thanks!
  9. I just read your review, and I guess I have never had the problems you have had because I don't use the pool, room service or have had to ask for anything extra from the staff. We usually arrive late, sleep and head back out. It's all good information to know, though. Years ago we would have used the pool, room service and the buffet! Daughter lives just down the road from this hotel so it is a perfect location and meets our needs so far. I will have to try out the Oakbrook Hyatt in the near future or if we plan on hanging out at the hotel for any amount of time. Thanks for the review and the recommendation of Oakbrook. It's always good to share our experiences. Good luck getting Oakbrook next time. I always want to win the McDonald Campus but haven't yet! Someday................. :)
  10. I bid on this hotel last Wednesday for $37 and was denied, added Oakbrook area and increased my bid to $40 and was denied. Tried again this morning and was denied at $37 added Oakbrook and increased to $40 again and was accepted. We love this hotel. Perfect location, great rooms, friendly staff. For what it is worth, both dates that I tried on this it was listed as $66 on hotwire.com. Thanks to everyone who shares on this board. I am so spoiled! This Thanksgiving I am thankful for betterbidding.com! :)
  11. I have been trying off and on for a few weeks. I was hoping to get the Hyatt Lisle because we have stayed there before and the hotel is great and location is perfect for us. I started at $36 and was offered a counter of $10, rejected and added Oak Brook at $37. Rejected again and went up to $39 and added Elmhurst, rejected again, added St. Charles for $40 please. BINGO! ( I love it when it takes a few seconds for the reply to come back from priceline, I always know I have finally scored something!) Your Offer Price: $40.00 Extend Your Stay Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $40.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $12.15 Total Charges: $52.15 Bid through Savings Barn. :)
  12. Your Price Has Been Accepted Congratulations, you got your price of $60 for a resort hotel room. Pointe Hilton Tapatio Cliffs Resort :) Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $60.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $14.98 Total Charges: $74.98 I thought this might be tough to get heading into Easter weekend, but it was accepted on the first try! We have stayed here before, I can't wait to get back!! Used SB link. Thanks Better Bidding!
  13. I just booked for a conference that I am attending this weekend. I saw it available through hotwire at $78, so I tried $70 through priceline and got it on the first bid. Of course now I am kicking myself for not trying lower first, but too many things to do tonight to play the game. :) Your Offer Price: $70.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $70.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $17.94 Total Charges: $87.94 My conference rate was $122 plus Chicago's 15.39 tax, so this was great! Went to the Hyatt site to cancel and was charged a cancellation fee. Called the hotel directly and spoke with Jeff, who agreed my confirmation said 72 hours prior to ARRIVAL and not check-in, so he gladly cancelled my reservation with no fee. (Whooo, that was a close one!!) Hyatt site has this for $179 for Friday night! Booked through SavingsBarn. Thanks again to all who post here! Great site, and I LOVE the maps!
  14. I have been trying for a 3* in Flagstaff for a while now. My bid was finally accepted yesterday, bidding the same way I had every 72 hours for the past two or three weeks! Started at $45- rejected. Added Sedona and bid $50-rejected. Added Belmont area and raised to $55 (which had been successful in an earlier post this past week.) Bingo. If at first you don't succeed try, try again. And again, and again and again. I was hoping for Embassy Suites with their made to order breakfast, but that hasn't shown up for awhile. I guess that "forces" me to Macy's in downtown Flagstaff! YUM!! (They roast their own coffee beans!) Thanks for all the posts on this board. It has saved me bundles of cash!!
  15. Thanks TDReid, I am so glad you had a great experience. I always feel the same aprehensions you mentioned, because you just never know what to expect from a priceline bid. I am very excited about staying here, since the past few reviews have been so favorable. Thanks for your time posting your review! I shall report back after Thanksgiving weekend! Good luck with future bids! :)
  16. TDReid, I echo your sentiments exactly. I had been bidding for the last three weeks in the Phoenix North area, for 11/23 thru 11/25. I kept getting rejected even though I STARTED at $60 and went up to $85 with free bids. Thanksgiving Day was in there and family blamed that for the reason. Hilton had a web only rate of $97 so I took that to mean they still had cheap rates available. I was also hoping for either of the other two resorts, and finally last week I got the Squaw Peaks Hilton for $60 on the first bid. (We were bidding for three rooms by the way.) My daughter stayed here two years ago, and they are SO excited we got this place. There is another review on the "other" crabby :) site that was just listed from their stay last week. Very favorable. I am thinking of requesting the north tower area near the pool with the swim up bar since our daughters and their friends are in their 20's and joining us. It seems those are newly renovated rooms and near a more "adult pool." I look forward to your review on this property. I am now trying to decide whether to risk a three star bid in Flagstaff or just book the Embassy Suites straight out. I think the four breakfasts (cooked to order!) and the happy hour may make up the priceline difference! Good luck on your stay. ENJOY!!
