  1. Wow, it worked fantastically! Now that I know how easy it can be, I don't think I'll ever go back! First time bidding, and I think it went rather well. Snagged the Westin Galleria in Dallas for $52 for a stay on 7/27-7/29. Started bidding at $40 and went up in $2 increments adding in the free bid zones. Thanks to thereuare for helping me out on my first time!
  2. Ah, I see what you're getting at now. Taking a look at the PRICELINE maps, I am open to the following: Galleria Downtown Irving Market Center Hopefully this helps.
  3. It's definitely not the only one I'm willing to accept. My parents are in Carrolton, so we are trying to find a nice area that is near them. The only areas that I really know are the Grapevine, Galleria, and Downtown areas.
  4. I live in Houston, and there's quite a few places that are good on foot. Downtown is nice, but after 6PM, food gets kind of scarce. Our downtown seems to shut down after everyone leaves their office buildings. If you stay towards the east side of downtown, there is quite a few places within walking distance, and it's pretty safe as well. Sure, you'll run into your typical homeless person, but not anything in the way of being unsafe. Once you start moving out of downtown, things can get kind of sketchy. One the west side of town is Katy, which has a fairly big outlet mall for shopping, but food choices are more limited to mostly fast food. You can walk to the other side of I-10 and get to old Katy and find some nice hole-in-the-wall mom and pop places that are great, but that walk can be a bit long. Another area that you may want to look in is north of Houston in an area called The Woodlands. That area is very nice as well, and there is a ton to do up there. Let me know if you want some more suggestions.
  5. Well, my son will already be there as he's staying with my mother for a bit so he can take a vacation from his parents. The only other person with us will be my daughter, so I'm fine either way. Sure it'd be nice to get some sort of suite similar to the Residence Inn, but I don't think it really matters to us right now. I'm sure that both sites can offer some very good deals, so I'm curious to hear what you would recommend.
  6. Please bear with me, as I'm a first time bidder. I've always been a bit hesitant to use a bidding site without being able to look at the room ahead of time, but I have heard some very good things about using this method. With that being said, my family and I will be travelling to Dallas in a few weeks, and I'd like to take the plunge into bidding. Last time we were in Dallas, we stayed at the Omni in downtown, but this time we are looking to head a bit further North. I would like to snag the Westin at Galleria, but unsure how to go about doing this. We will be staying July 27-29, and since I'm used to paying $150+/night, anything less than that will be some huge savings. It'd be nice if I could score big like some other people who have gotten the Westin for around $50/night. I tried to follow how people have submitted multiple bids within the 24 hour period, but I'm still confused by the whole process. I know I can't pick the hotel I stay at, and I'm fine with that. I am going to try and snag a 4* or higher, and any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance! And of course, I'll use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to search and/or book. Thanks!
