  1. Offer Price: avg. per room, per night $74.00 Rooms: 1 Nights: 6 Room Subtotal: $444.00 Taxes & Fees: $82.20 Total Charged to Card: $526.20 Very pleased with my deal. Bid history (bid only 4*): Zone 3 French Quarter $66 Added: Zone 1 Convention Center and Warehouse - Arts District $68 Zone 2 Downtown New Orleans $70 Zone 4 Garden District (no 4* properties) $72 Zone 6 Metairie - Harahan (no 4* properties) $74 -> accepted and won Marriott New Orleans
  2. Offer Price: avg. per room, per night $66.00 Room Subtotal: $132.00 Taxes & Fees: $26.90 Total Charged to Card: $158.90 I needed a room somewhere near Palo Alto or San Jose (flying in and out of SJC and visiting family in Palo Alto). I'm very happy with my deal since I tried the exact same search one week ago and up to $80 was rejected. Prices had obviously dropped since last week. Perhaps because we are now only 8 days from check-in. Priceline Express Deal 4* Santa Clara was now available @ $72 and Hotwire 4* @ $79 for my dates of travel. My Bidding strategy for a 4* hotel: Avoid Zone 7 San Jose (nice 4* properties but expensive parking) Avoid Zone 8 San Jose South (wrong direction of where I'm heading) Bid up to a maximum of $68 in $2 increments adding first 4* zones and later zones with no 4* properties. This left me with 4 zones containing 4* properties and 5 zones containing no 4* properties - a total of 9 possible bids. Hence starting bid: Zone 9 Santa Clara $52 Added: Zone 5 Palo Alto $54 Zone 1 Cupertino - Campbell $56 Zone 6 Redwood City - San Carlos $58 Zone 3 Mountain View $60 Zone 10 Sunnyvale $62 Zone 2 Milpitas $64 Zone 11 West San Jose $66 -> accepted and won Hilton Santa Clara Great I didn't need my last possible bid (adding Zone 4 Newark - Fremont $68) I think it was possible to add a 5% off coupon to the Priceline Express Deal of $72 getting it down to $68 so that was the reason for chosing $68 as my maximum bid. While I might not have saved heaps of money compared to my other booking options it sure was more fun bidding and winning a deal Please use the links on this site for your Priceline and Hotwire bidding. I'm afraid I forgot by accident this time (my apologies). It wont affect your bidding but it will keep this great site up and running due to a referral system they have in place if I understand it right.
  3. No it's fine but the 109 rate would qualify for welcome reward points (same value as a 10% discount) and actual cost would then be around $98. Difference 98-87 = approx $11 for breakfast (two adults and a child booked on Hotels.com) is also quite a good deal and perhaps better than the PRICELINE deal.
  4. 4 rooms - 3 nights - 5 star bidding only Bid history: Zone 2 City Hall / Marina : $75 - rejected Added Zone 5 Orchard : $78 - rejected Added Zone 1 Bugis: $81 - rejected Added extra non-5-star zone: $84 - rejected Added extra non-5-star zone: $87 - accepted Same dates at Conrad are on offer for 109 breakfast inclusive, so not a great deal, but still ok
  5. Emily Morgan Hotel 705 E Houston St San Antonio, TX 78205 Room Cost (avg. per room, per night): $70.00 (USD) Number of Rooms: 2 Number of Nights: 1 Room Subtotal: $140.00 (USD) Taxes and Fees: $32.10 (USD) Total Room Cost: $172.10 (USD) Searched only 4* hotels Started with zone 1 (downtown - max 4*) $50 rejected Added zone 7 (northwest - max 4*) $60 rejected Added zone 9 (west - max 3* + resorts) $60 rejected Added another zone (all other zones have only 3
  6. Sheraton Rio Hotel & Resort Avenida Niemeyer 121 Rio De Janeiro, 22450 55-2122741122 Room Cost (avg. per room, per night): $120.00 (USD) Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Room Subtotal: $120.00 (USD) Taxes and Fees: $29.96 (USD) Total Room Cost: $149.96 (USD) Tried over several days with 90, 100, 110, 115 and finally 120 List price on Sheraton.com was 235 (they did however have discounted rates fews days before at 175-180) Priceline quoted that usual average rate for 4* in Rio de Janerio was 235 (and up to 50% off with name your own price) Everything over 117.50 would probably have worked Used the PRICELINE link from betterbidding.com
  7. Used priceline.com.sg (they can accept a non-US visa card - which doestn't work on the US site) Tried Orchard Road 5* up to 145 SG$ but was denied Tried adding 4* and starting out with 90 SG$ +5 SG$ increase per offer. 115 SG$ was finally accepted. Check-in: 14 February 2006 Check-out: 18 February 2006 Your Offer Price: SG$115 Number of Rooms: 2 Number of Nights: 4 Subtotal: SG$920 Taxes: SG$152.24 Processing Fee: SG$16.50 (per offer) Total Lodging Charges: SG$1088.74
  8. First bid HKD 845 rejected (approx USD 109) Second bid HKD 905 accepted (approx USD 116) Booked on priceline.com.hk because priceline.com / priceline.co.uk won't accept creditcards from outside US/UK. Subtotal: HK$6335 (~ USD 816.32 ~ USD 116/night) Taxes: HK$723.45 (~ USD 93,22) Processing Fee: HK$75 (per offer) (~ USD 9.66) Total Lodging Charges: HK$7133.45 (~ USD 919.20) Looked up the reservation on marriott.com and enjoyed noticing that the room is a Deluxe Ocean View Room (USD 240 regular price) :o Originally I was trying to book the Waikoloa Marriott for 2 nights only 10/15 - 10/17 because everything else was sold out for Saturday and Sunday night. Could only get a USD 167 Partial Ocean View Room Saturday night and a USD 139 Garden View Room Sunday night with check-out from noon to 3pm sunday ( :) ). After Orbitz.com also messed up my reservation on Outrigger Keauhou 10/17-10/22 (neither do they accept non-US creditcards :) ) I decided to check out priceline.com.hk with a booking of the total stay (10/15-10/22). I am happy I did :) Aloha Hawaii
