  1. Was a little disappointed in this win. I wasn’t aware that this was a potential 5* hotel in Times Square district. I relied on the list and hoped I was bidding on either The Knickerbocker or The Chatwal. My bid price was less than $20/night from published rates.
  2. Started my PRICELINE bidding at $160. Could have used the PRICELINE EXPRESS Deal to get this property for $190, but every dollar counts!
  3. I have had 2 NYOP experiences in London. 5* in Mayfair/Soho (got Intercontinental Park Lane) and 4* Notting Hill/Bayswater (K West Hotel and Spa). Both times I was completely satisfied with the room I was assigned, and in both cases I got great rates compared to published rates, both the hotels and online brokers. Of course I always link to PRICELINE from betterbidding. It's the only way!
  4. I've been trying daily for this weekend. Retail prices are extremely high all over town for most star ratings. Fortunately I had a reservation at this same property for a rate much better than the going rate the last couple of weeks. I was content to use the reservation, but got it today and saved close to $100 for the 2 nights. Hyatt website has shown no availability at this property for this weekend the last few days. Thanks again Priceline, and of course I used the betterbidding link to place my PRICELINE bids.
  5. Just got this property. Have been trying for 4/12-14, and decided to break into 2 stays in attempt to get better rate. I'm much happier with the Hyatt Embarcadero I got for 12th at $110. This Hilton is my least favorite 4* Embarcadero. Often Priceline customers are put in TINY rooms next to elevators that have only 1 double size bed are incredibly noisy (hence the earplugs provided in the rooms). They are sometimes nice about putting you in normal sized rooms, but not always. Regardless, I am happy for the rates I got for both nights, considering retail rates were $200 +/- for this weekend. By the way, as always I linked to PRICELINE through betterbidding!
  6. Forgot to mention I linked to Priceline from betterbidding.com. Also, I tried the extend stay option. I was offered the $110 rate, but was offered $167. I decided to take a chance by bidding throughout the week. Fingers crossed!
  7. I've been trying to get a good rate for 4/12-14, and rates have been pretty high. Decided to break it into 2 one night stays, and was delighted to get this rate for the Hyatt. Now I just need to get an equally good deal for Saturday. Retail rates for this weekend have all been well over $200/night.
  8. Linked to PRICELINE through betterbidding and just got this property. I haven't stayed here, so more may follow if I'm impressed or underwelmed. Happy with price as traditional reservations in the area were $90-$125 for similar properties.
  9. Follow up after our stay - We were assigned a room in the Landmark Building (all previous stays here were in Tower Building), and it was a disappointment. The room had a terrible musty odor. The bathroom was incredibly small, and the 'Heavenly Mattress' was much less then heavenly. This was my first stay at here using Priceline Name Your Own Price. Maybe my expectations shouldn't have been based on previous stays using conventional reservations through the hotel website.
  10. Just got this room, of course using the Betterbidding link to PRICELINE. I have been stressing about the room rates for these dates, and had reserved the Hilton, Financial District as a contingency. I am thrilled to get the Westin at this rate, this week. Looking forward to my quick, weekend trip.
  11. I am looking at same dates. If you've checked hotel websites, you'll see rates for those dates are $300+. I belive there is a big Deloitte convention in town through 10/12. That has a lot to do with it. I am considering breaking my requests into separate stays, 10/11, then another bid for remaining days. It might not be attractive to you because of being with your family and the good possibility you'll have to change hotels. I believe most convention people will check out 10/12, so rates will be better. The other option is to give it more time, hoping that hotels will come down on any rooms they're holding on to. Good luck. Don't forget to use the link from betterbidding when using PRICELINE!
  12. Used the betterbidding PRICELINE link to secure this property. I've never stayed here, but happy with the price, given the Olympics. The location is fine by me. Easy access to Shephard's Bush tube stop and Westfield Mall. Any feedback or suggestions about the property are appreciated.
  13. We were pre-assigned one of the 1 double bed rooms, and unfortunately I wasn't the most polite person at the front desk. I should have called prior to arriving. They did put us in a king room at no additional charge, and indicated that they typically will if someone requests and larger rooms are available. After staying at the Hyatt Embarcadero and the Omni, it is surprising that this Hilton is rated the same class. Local, San Francisco friends have told me that property has never had a great reputation. When a 4* hotel provides ear plugs on the nightstand for guests, it doesn't do a whole lot for your comfort expectations.
  14. It may be beneficial for other betterbidding travelers to note this is you win a bid for 4* hotel in Financial District-Embarcadero. The Hilton Financial District front desk person this weekend told me that the default room type for all Priceline customers is their 1 double bed room, which I stayed in during my last stay. These rooms are VERY uncomfortable. They are barely large enough for 1 full sized bed, and they are adjacent to the elevators. The noise was ridiculous. I highly encourage anyone staying at this property through a Priceline winning bid to call the hotel before your arrival and request a room other than the small, 1 double bed room that is typically assigned.
  15. Used the Betterbidding PRICELINE link and just got the Hilton. I'm not too excited. I got this property through Priceline my last trip to San Francisco, and it wasn't a great experience. Oh well.......
  16. Used BetterBidding link to PRICELINE to get this reservation. I was having a rough time for this one night stay. Apparently something going on in town. Lots of Hilton properties show no rooms available on their website. Crystal City was 1st option because I'm leaving out of DCA early the next morning. This Marriott should be fine. I can turn my rental car in the night before and hop on Metro to DCA the next morning. Another happy experience with BetterBidding and Priceline.
  17. I am recently back from my stay at the Intercontinental Park Lane. Here are my comments on the property. 1. Wonderful location. Adjacent to Hyde Park Corner tube stop and easy walking distance to Knightsbridge 2. Staff was very nice 3. Room as facing the courtyard, which I expected for the price paid, but very clean and nicely appointed 4. I would be delighted to have a future bid accepted by this property. Worth price paid and quite a bit more
  18. Used PRICELINE link from BetterBidding (as always). Have been trying for these dates for some time, but believe the Thursday prevented lower bids being accepted. Have not stayed at this property. I wish it was closer to BART. I've been very happy with stays at Hyatt Regency and Omni I secured through Priceline, via BetterBidding recently. Any suggestions about this property are greatly appreciated.
  19. My first bidding experience outside the US. It appears reviews are good for this property. 1st bid was $150, then re-bid in $15 increments. Got $180. Seems like good deal. Any suggestions about the property are appreciated.
  20. I have made several trips to San Francisco recently, and stayed in the Financial District/Embarcadero area each time. You should really enjoy any 4* hotel in this area, and the access to public transportation is excellent from this area. Walking distance to Union Square is another advantage. $100 for a 4* hotel in Embarcadero district is reasonable, however I have spent just over $100 ($105 and $110) and still felt I received a great deal for the money.
  21. Thanks for the tips. Just joined Select Guest program. Sounds like it includes comp wifi as well, which is sweet. I'll be taking BART in from SFO, so I'll walk from Montgomery. I'm in town often enough that I have a Clipper Card. I'll be sure and ask for room on high floor in back of building. Thanks again.
  22. siruud, I trust you like the property?? Any suggestions for me (ie. room floor or direction facing) to make stay nicer. Thanks!
  23. I just used the PRICELINE link and secured a room at the Omni. I am anxious to stay at this property based on the reviews. I've used Priceline bidding and stayed at the Hyatt Regency on several occasions, and love their convenient location to BART and MUNI. It will be nice to compare the properties. I started bidding at $90, and used re-zone bids in $5 increments.
  24. Just used the BETTERBIDDING link to PRICELINE and got 2 rooms at the Palomar. Started bidding at $99, and used re-zone to try $105 before having $110 accepted. Looking forward to my stay. Now on to getting something in San Francisco for later in February.
