  1. We bid on PRICELINE and got the Portola and Spa for $80 as listed in my new post.

Actually, studying the website more in depth, it seems they do have a summer special on that might interest some to book direct or through a link here in the support page. Two nights with breakfast everyday, plus a two day pass to aquarium or paddle boats, etc. Kids eat free. Not bad for $289. So take that into account. If traveling with kids especially it might be a good deal for you.

    Thanks for all the help.

  2. Bid 3* Carmel, hoping for Mission Inn.$65. Rejected

    Closed browser.

Bid 3.5* Monterey $70. received counteroffer of $15 more

    Closed browser.

Added free rebid zone to Monterey 3.5*, P. Grove and bid $75. Same counteroffer of $15 more.

closed browser and bid 3.5* $80 Monterey/free rebid zone Marina.

    Accepted.

Very happy. Cheapest rate with taxes on website was $440. We paid total $188.

I used your PRICELINE link here.

  3. My son just got back from the Priceline win here and said he would love tp go back to the same place. Great beds. Great transportation. The Orly bus at the door, as mentioned, and 5 minutes away the RER to CDG! Sounds like it is worth the little inconvenience. His other option was a 2* hotel near a friend's house for the same price.

  4. $115 Marriott Rive Gauche May 30, 31, 1st.

Bid $95 St. Germain. Counteroffer of $127

    closed browser.

    Bid $100 Champs E.. counteroffer $183

New bid $115 St. G/Champs E.. accepted. By the way, it took SO long to get this last answer I almost thought the computer/website was going loco...

Lowest price on Marriott website is 178E. We paid 309 E for the THREE nights. including tax. Not bad!

I jumped up to $115 because I decided not to add several of the other areas I had been adding up to now since I really preferred St. G or Ch. E for my son this trip. So this was my last chance almost.

Tonight was the last night trying for this before booking a nice little 2* for 103E near a friend's house.

    Looks great.

I used your PRICELINE link here, of course, and thank you again for this great site.

  5. I am bidding 4* and have done several combinations starting at $80, reaching $112. I have received counteroffers from the beginning for $127-$183, depending on the zone.

I think we are close to getting a hotel, but will opt for a direct booking at a 2 star if nothing is won at $120. I am bidding individually and combining bit by bit all zones except La Defense and Bastille. There are no free rebid zones at 4* but I have managed to do 24 bids today anyway.

I am TEMPTED to drop eventually to a 3* but am not too convinced of that option.

HOTWIRE has nothing interesting right now.

I see someone else has asked for assistance for these same dates. I may check out your response there, or here if you can think of anything else.

  6. To get even more than 6 bids each with USE and free bids.. close the browser after each rejection and do entirely new bid and all mathmatical combinations. If you would accept more than one zone this multiplies exponentially. Good luck.

    USE

then USE + free bid A

    close browser

    USE+ free bid B

    close browser

    Use + free bid C

    Close

    USE + D

    close

    USE + E

    close

    USE, A+B

    close

    USE+A+C

    close

    USE+A+D

    Close USE+A+E

and then closing browser each time

USE+B+C..etc. etc until you make all combos ending in USE+ABCDE as last possible bid if all have been rejected until 24 hrs pass.

  7. Just a suggestion. If you start bidding for a 5* and get up to say $140, when you decide to finally drop to 4* hotels, I find it best to close the browser, start all over again LOW, and work oneself up to the highest bid to avoid overbidding.

Also, keep a good record of the lowest bids in a certain area/zone, as by adding that zone when your bid is high could also cause an overbid. When you make a new bid you do NOT need to raise the $$ offered.. only add a new zone or different dates.

    Good luck, everyone.

  8. In case the moderators come on later.. I will just suggest you read all the information about this board on the home page.. "how does this board work"..etc. Most of your questions will be answered. You can also go to the PRICELINE /HOTWIRE pages through the links here to do a test run.. without buying anything. That way you become familiar with the websites.

You can also go to the Priceline and Hotwire Calendar of Wins to see what is happening in London around your dates.

The moderators will prepare a strategy for you if you give them your highest amount for a bid, the zone and dates.

You can almost decipher the HOTWIRE hotels with the hotwire hotel list, which may be more interesting for you than PRICELINE if you are looking for a certain amenity. Good luck.

  9. You cannot bid on any specific hotel. You will be awarded a hotel in the zone( look at the Priceline maps) and at the star level you choose . Study the FAQs here and various websites ( support links here) to find out the official hotel room prices for your specific dates.. Then study the wins on this board so you do not overbid. Room rates are date sensitive. Do not expect to get the same price in high season as low season.

Always begin your bids through the links here to help maintain the site.

Remember these purchases are non-refundable. Re-check the data on your bid before proceeding for any error in the date, zone, star level or price.

Good luck and post any questions. The moderators will give you a strategy if you need help.
