Second leg of my NYC visit, considered the 3* Crowne Plaza (Secaucus) @ $102, and 3* Sheraton at Newark Airport @ $72. Of course I cannot be sure those were the hotels and just guessing based on the hotel list. Settled for this lower star place because I was spooked by tripadvisor comments. The description/features for this hotel were bang-on again, thank you for your efforts.

Hello, Decided to plan a trip in the fall and a bit shocked by the high prices. It was mentioned in another post that it was a popular season for conventions so perhaps I am out of luck. Decided to split up the trip and spend oct 27-29 in Newark. There were not a lot of choices on hotwire, so it was easy to figure out it was this hotel. Reviews on tripadvisor seemed ok. The features on the hotel list were a perfect match, thank you for your efforts. (edit) A bit late now, but would I have had a better result if I waited closer to last minute for hotwire/priceline deals during this period?
