Though I thought I responded to my last queries - they did not seem to be up and have updated.
Your advice would be appreciated.
I am concerned with timing of bidding (don't want to leave too last minute and some hotels are booking fast for Labour Day weekend).
Thoughts?
Thanks!
I ended up getting the Andaz for $150 (last year) on priceline. thank you.
For the other nights I had to use last minute travel to get a better rate in an area of preference.
I did not go at this time and now planning for end of August
Hi there,
I would like to bid on a hotel or hotels for the period of August 30th to September 3rd.
A few questions.
Should I wait till closer to the date? Am I ok to try on the weekend?
Will my only cheaper options be the financial district?
I am really hoping to not go over $150 - is this completely impossible?
Should I divide the dates to get better options/prices? What would be the best strategy?
I am open to different areas. Preferable 4* or 3.5*. I like the Soho district, Chelsea and will even try central park and midtown.
I'm not too keen on financial district - but have gotten a pretty good deal there before on priceline.
Any help is appreciated. A concrete strategy would be supported. I need review the re-bid zones.
Hi there,
I am trying to book for July 5th in NYC. I am not too picky, but need to get to Penn station very early the next day. There is a PRICELINE EXPRESS deal for $115 in the soho-tribeca area (9/10 ratings - no other info). Any ideas what hotel? Also a times square hotel for $118 (8/10 ratings - no other info).
Would it be better to just bid - or take one of the express deals? It's a last minute thing...
thanks!
Try 4* first upto $180 - please advise.
Try 3.5* upto $160 - please advise.
Thanks.
Yes for the same dates. Even got a priceline alert that people have gotten it as low as $135.
I have bidded up to $165 for a 4*
MTE, MTW, Central South, ESB, TS and added pretty much everything I could for re-bids.
If you could break down an appropriate strategy - that would be great - what increments etc. I've tried for several days. MTE and MTW appear to be getting reasonable bid successes for others. I do not want financial district. Open to any suggestions.
Again - Aug 26-28 for 2 people.
Thanks.
I'm willing to go to $200. Yes, I have been to NYC many times. My bids have been lower as PRICELINE has had $130-150 in MTE and MTW during the same times...so just getting a little frustrated. May just try priceline one more time and then try Expedia or Travelocity.
Just to confirm they are
Coney Island
Long Island
Madison Square Garden
Queensborough Bridge
Upper East Side
(all no 4*)
Thanks I figured it out. However, not getting anything.
If my max is 150-160 before tax. Preference MTE, MTW, Central South, TS(last option) starting with 4 * and then 3.5* (take out MTE to avoid being far from subway and taking out CS, to avoid Hudson). What is my best bidding strategy, knowing the re-bidding zones? Help please. Will try one more time.
I think they are Long Island and Queensborough - any others for 4*?
Thanks.
Thanks so much. I appreciate your advice. How about I start with 4* MTE, MTW, CS, TS first. cap $160. If nothing, I'll downgrade to 3.5* and take out MTE? Any advice on strategy. Tried again today - no luck! Thanks - your site is very helpful.
Also is Queensborough Bridge at 4* non-existent and therefore a freebie???
Can I ask how you got this bid - was it on the first try? (MTE at 4*?)
Sorry I understand what you are saying. Is there any way that a strategy can build being near a subway. i.e. certain start hotels in MTE are far away from the subway.?
Otherwise I can open up regions to get a better price. I saw someone got the W at $150 - is this far from the subway?
Thanks again.
No, I am willing to accept MTE, Central South and then add MTW? 150 cap. Thanks again.
Keep trying - are you willing to add other regions? I tried for MTE first and could not get it at that rate - but saw someone get the W Hotel this week at that rate.
No - super small rooms are not what we want. Being close to the subway would be great. MDG and TS can be super touristy. Trying to refrain from that - but price and location are top factors (not super south - isolated). MTW is fine. Please advise. Thanks.
Do not want the Hudson -
Want to be close to subway -
150 is our ceiling right now -
If some 3.5* MTE are far from subway - I want to avoid that
Regional preference is possible
Central South
MTE (not far from subway)
MTW
Will look into other regions if needed
Hi there,
I am looking for a bidding strategy:
3.5* and up
MTE, MTW, ESB, Central South
$150 max
MTW would be last option
August 26 - 28th - 2 nights
$150 max
I recently won a priceline bid in the financial district for the night before - nice hotel, wrong location (priceline groups soho and financial district togethor - it's annoying).
Please help!
Thanks.
Sure, I'll do a new thread. No, I do not want to be in the financial district. Thanks for your help.
I just got Andaz Wall Street for $155 (4*, 08/25-26). Didn't really want to be this south - but was having trouble bidding. It looks like a nice hotel? I also need something for the 26-28, 2 more nights. I would like 3.5* to 4* in MTE, Soho (but you can end up in the financial district which is annoying), Central South, Upper Manhatten, MTW (last option). What should be my bidding strategy. We really don't want to spend more than $150 if possible.
Thanks.
I'm trying for MTE or Soho/FD - I saw that some people got $150-160 this week. I need aug 25-26, 2011 (potentially the next two nights as well).
None of my bidding strategies are working. Have tried adding zones (with no hotels in 3.5 or 4).
What's my bidding strategy for a 3.5 or 4 in these areas. Can my ceiling be 160?
thanks do I have to wait 24 hrs? I tried 143 and then higher but it kept saying I need to at least put $26 higher ($166)
I just tried to bid $140, 4* on priceline, soho/FD or MTE.
I didn't get it, but said if I went to $166 I had a one time chance to get something - what hotel could it be?
