  1. $110/night at the Palazzo. Bid history: $100 1st bid. $110 2nd bid.
  2. So I've been bidding pretty consistently every couple of days up to $150 (using my free bids in increments of $3-$5 on the PRICELINE link above) for USW/USE/Emb (Financial District) and am getting a little discouraged to say the least haha. Cross checking other sites, it seems like 4*s for these areas are going for $290-320/night. I know I still have some time, but I cant help but wonder if $150 is too low. But then again, there's a Hotwire deal for what I'm assuming is the Omni albeit for $40 more at $193/night....should i hold off or should i just go w/ the Omni assuming I want to go w/ a 4*? Suggestions anyone? Please advise. Thanks again :)
  3. I booked on Aria's website for 119.20/night for insurance as you can cancel 48hrs before- they have a 20% off special + $75 dollar resort credit FYI. Still am hoping for a strip north 5*, but now I have a baseline to work off of. Will report any win using the PRICELINE link above of course.
  4. Yeah, that's what I'm struggling with right now. My concern is that if I continue to bid on Strip North, Strip South rates may increase. In my mind, it's not worth spending $150/night when I can get a 5* in Strip South for less than $100/night. At what point should I abort and focus my efforts on Strip South? Thanks for the continued support and assistance- it's much appreciated!
  5. Yeah, I've tried to bid up to $120 for 4* in USW in increments of $3 and $5, but had no luck. I was planning to continue to do so every couple of days, unless there was a better alternative? If that didn't work, I was going to include USE and Embarcadero/raise my bid ceiling.
  6. Thanks Colfax. For the time being, I'm targeting USW, but will probably end up extending my zones to USE and Embarcadero.
  7. I've been bidding (unsuccessfully) in increments of 2 from 95-115 for a 5* Strip North Hotel. My dates are from 10/23-10/26, which is Sunday-Wednesday. The biggest conference in town from what I could find that coincided with my dates was only 6000 strong, which i doubt would have much bearing on rates. With that said, is my ceiling too low? Any help or thoughts would be much appreciated. Thanks!
  8. Checked online and noticed hotel rates for 4* are $60 more in comparison to this priceline hotel win, who happens to be travelling two weeks prior. Anyone have an idea as to why? Should i wait a couple of weeks before trying again especially if I can win a bid around $110...
  9. Thanks for the info Gallus50 :) I will be sure sure to post my progress/bidding history.
  10. Thanks for the info! Could you please confirm (Zones that don't have 4* hotels): Civic Center South Fisherman's Wharf Japan Town Marina SFO North South SF
  11. Thanks Colfax :) My gf and I will be visiting for the first time so I'm just looking to maximize our weekend stay. A friend recommended the union square area- is there a consensus as far as which zone is preferred between USE & USW in terms of location/quality of hotels? With 6 rebid zones, it appears that I'll have plenty of bids haha. How low would you recommend starting? Do $3 increments sound reasonable? Many thanks for the help!
  12. Much like the previous thread, I can see myself in timmyx's predicament quite easily. I am traveling to sf late october (10/21-10/23) and am interested in the union square area with a limit of ~150/night. Any recommendations on a bidding strategy? Is a 4* within reach? Please advise. Thank you!
  13. Sorry to jump on this chain, but I can see myself in timmyx's predicament quite easily. I too am traveling to SF with the gf late october (10/21-10/23) and am interested in the union square area with a limit of ~150/night. Any recommendations on a bidding strategy? Is a 4* within reach? Please advise. Thank you!
  14. Literally stumbled across this site while looking for hotel deals on the strip...and let me tell you how happy I am to have found this forum haha. With that said, I had a couple of questions (within the context of 5* hotels): Do the hotels vary at the time of the bid or does the starting bid affect which hotels you get? or is it a combination of both? Could I wait another month to get a different hotel with a lower bid for a 5*? I ask because from the most recent posts, I've noticed a trend of successful bids at the Palazzo though there was one successful bid at the Wynn, but at a higher start bid/finishing price. From what I've gathered from the hotel list, the following 5* hotels in the North Strip are: Palazzo Venetian Wynn I know it's hard to be picky given the significant savings, but I was curious if anyone was aware of a way to manipulate bids so score a stay at the Wynn. Since my travel dates are a ways off, would it be advisable to wait? I have no finite budget set in mind, but was thinking around $100/night if that sounds reasonable enough. Please advise. Thanks in advance for your assistance!
