  1. I have a 3 night stay in Portland coming up 8/23-26 and was unable to get a 4 star hotel for $120 with 4 bidding attempts over the past week. I finally went with LMT and the Hilton which I believe is arguably as good as or better than some other Portland hotels which are rated 4 Stars. Portland tends to be slim pickings over the summer.
  2. You can walk from the U of O side of the river - its not too far and there are many hotels. The Valley River Inn has started to come up on PRICELINE...previously I always got the Hilton. Valley River Inn is very run down and does not deserve a 3 start rating or to be listed at all IMHO based on 1 recent stay there. I no longer use Priceline or Hotwire for the Eugene area because of this. Check Travelocity for a complete listing of area hotels.
  3. I "won" a one night stay at the River Valley Inn in Eugene for $60 via Priceline on July 14. Previously I have always gotten the Hilton. I am a regular user of Priceline especially in the Portland area and their star ratings have been accurate. Not the case with the River Valley Inn. The property is run down. The rooms and hallways smell heavily of mildew/mold. Carpets in the hallways and my room were noticeably stained and the bed old, sagging in the middle and uncomfortable. This hotel should not be listed at ANY star level. I will no longer use Priceline for 3 star hotels in the Eugene area as they declined to re-evaluate the River Valley Inn's star status. So be it, but they lose my business in that market.
