Forgot the tally.... $68 per night. (2 nights) Taxes and fees $28.08. Total for 2 nights = $164.08.
I started bidding 3 weeks ago with $46 on PRICELINE.
Checked HOTWIRE everyday, also. The
best hotels were never below $95 on HOTWIRE.
I had gotten the DoubleTree/Seatac for $62 on PL earlier
for June 29, 2011, so today I bid PL $63 for the Seatac
dates 7/17-7/19. Got a "raise your offer to $78.
I had a re-bid op, using the 2 1/2* Kirkland area.
So I clicked back for a re-bid. Bid $68.
Got the Red Lion. :)
No where near the quality of the DoubleTree, I read.
They list a retail price of $81 :)
So how did they get a 3* rating equal to the Hilton and
DoubleTree?
I'm glad to have a price of $68. And we will see what
we think of the Red Lion.
I have been bidding for this for 3 weeks.
Started as low as $81. Finally worked up
to $148 today.
:) I'm thinking we will be
really pleased, 9.3 approval rating, $228 retail.
Thanks for offering your help, Aaron and Thereuare. HW pulled the 4* again!
But I finally got a PL win for that night. Will post it in a new topic.
Thank You all for this board!
The property has popped back up now at $162 HW. Same date 7/8/11
Same amenities as above, 4*,
Can you ID it?
Oh no. It was there at 10:00 am this morning. I just checked it.
It is not there at all. The date is one night, Friday July 8.
I have been searching 1 room, and default 2 adults/0 children.
I actually am getting frustrated with the Seattle downtown bidding. I bid a 3 1/2 *
and got the Silver Cloud Broadway, for July 5, for $160 (an embarressing mistake on my part).
I said ... that is not going to happen again.
But I am getting no bites for 4* on PL for July 8. I have been as high as $135.
I honestly don't know how the PL bidder got a room in Pike Place for $129 fairly recently
for the same week (July 9, 10, 11) that I have been bidding.
I guess I am waiting some more. Do you have some suggestions? It is pretty important
to me to be right downtown, since we are only there for a very short time. But I don't
want to be given the Silver Cloud Broadway, just
By the way my PL wins of $155 for the Victoria Magnolia, BC, Canada (July 6 and 7) are erroneously listed
in the state of Washington calendar of wins.
July 8th Friday. thank you.
Please list the amenities that the Westin listed on the Hotwire posting.
I am looking at a 4* in Pike Place for 7/8. Would like to know if the
amenities match up with the Westin listing.
This hotel is listed as:
$159
Downtown - Pike Place area hotel (0.0 - 1.0 mi from city center)
Recommended in 90 % of Hotwire customer reviews
Amenities: Boutique Hotel. Smoke Free Rooms. Fitness Center. Restaurants(s). Business Center. High Speed Internet Access.
I don't know if they want us to start a new thread or not. I have been having trouble trying to get the next four days of our trip booked for decent prices. We are a bit early for sure. But inventory is probably sketchy. I am going to bid for 3 days and see if they let me extend. If I can't get anything can always pay the $157 on Hotwire. I don't have nerves of steel and with a family, I don't like waiting until late, because of the unknowing factor. But, prices tend to go down closer to your dates, justdon't know about consecutive days being all that available. It's all anybody's guess!
I've been trying 4* for weeks in both DT Seattle areas, Pikes and Space Needle.
I've worked up to $129 for 7/8. NOTHING biting.
Watch out for the 3 1/2* in Pike. It may mean the Silver Cloud Broadway.
OUCH. That is a walk.
Sheraton Vancouver Wall Centre
Amenities
Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s)
Business Center High-Speed Internet Access Spa Services
$123 + 24.99 = $147.99 per night
I started bidding PL on 4* in the Downtown Vancouver and got a counter offer, wanting $130.
But I had been watching a 4* on Hotwire oscillate from $125 up to $131.
Then the Hotwire 4* hotel dropped to $123. I took it, hoping for the Pan, but got
the Sheraton, but this one gets great reviews, particularly for location.
I'm pretty happy about this. Vancouver stays pricey in July, the boards say. :)
06/23/11 - 06/26/11 dates for our 3 day stay at Sheraton Centre Toronto
Hotwire amenities listed for this hotel were:
Smoke Free Rooms
Fitness Center
Pool(s)
Restaurant(s)
Business Center
High-Speed Internet Access
Sheraton Centre Toronto Hotel$107
booked for 3 nights
taxes: $58.26
total for 3 nights $379.26
I saw this " 4* best deal" at the top of the HOTWIRE list
at first for $88. I thought that was very, very cheap.
I thought I had better check the area and see if I
could ID the hotel by reading the notes in this forum.
I opened another browser/window, so I would not have to
back click on the page with the $88.
I quickly figured it was probably the Sheraton, but
when I returned to the page, it had expired.
The new price was $107. (Not a bad price either, for a nice 4*)
It felt like to me that Hotwire changed the price
the very moment I opened a different browser/window.
I guess you HAVE to JUMP quick using Hotwire??
Still new and learning the ropes!
Thank you for any feedback!

I am pleased about it. The published rates are about $100 more, and
we only had that window of time. I'll be testing out waiting closer to the
day on other bookings. Thanks so much for all your helpful suggestions
and postings! I am so glad to have this kind of assistance!
Question: Several times when I have had a bid(s) rejected, PL sends an
email saying "try again right now". If I use the link in their email, is that
NOT the same as going back into the www.betterbidding site to pick up the
link?
Thanks!
I worked on this bid for days. I started at $89 and worked my way up
through the $140s. I finally got a nibble
at $150. The reply window from PL popped up
saying, "If you will raise your bid $40 ..."
I clicked back on the link that said, "If you want
to change your selections..." I selected another
area (that only had 3* hotels), and I raised
my bid to $155. Bingo. They took it.
It is the Magnolia Hotel and Spa. I like it!
I'm new at this, but it seems the July 4th week is a
tough time to get a really low price.
Suggestions anyone?
I am wondering if 5 weeks or 6 weeks is too soon to
start bidding?
FYI I have been trying for the last week for 4* and 3 1/2* Downtown Pike and space needle for Sat 25th and Sun 26th of June and its more $. Started at $77 up to $99 and no luck. Will keep trying.
Thanks for the info. I will post what happens for me.
I won my first better bidding with $62 for a Doubletree/Setrac for June 29, 2011.
I noticed other people had made wins at the Doubletree/Seatrac with $50, but
in May. Did I bid too soon for the room? Or does June have a higher seasonal hotel
rate? I want to initiate bids for 2 nights in Victoria and one night in downtown/Pikes
Seattle. Just trying to gather the info before I jump in. Thank you.
:) My first try at this. I am thrilled at the result!
PRICELINE: Seattle/Tacoma Airport
June 29, 2011
First bid $47 refused. Rebid for $62 was offered.
I took it. It is the Doubletree. Total with PL taxes +fees = $78.63

So convenient and so oriented for the business traveler. Shuttles to the airport were on time and often. Breakfast, lunch and dinner very convenient and reasonably priced. The facility is a bit old, the bed was a bit soft, but all in all it was a good value at $68 + tax. Parking was $10 a day (the lowest hotel parking we paid on our trip). The elevators needed a current inspection as the certificate was expired.
